< 1 Timothy 5 >

1 Patong te tluung boeh. Tedae pa pakhat bangla, tanoe thai manuca bangla hloephoelh lah.
You may not rebuke an elder, but exhort [him] as a father, younger persons as brothers,
2 Hamca te manu bangla, tanoe rhoek te ngannu rhoek bangla cilpoenah cungkuem neh hloep.
aged women as mothers, younger ones as sisters—in all purity;
3 Nuhmai rhoek khaw nuhmai taktak te tah hinyah lah.
honor widows who are really widows;
4 Tedae nuhmai khat khat loh a ca rhoek mai khaw a cadil rhoek mai khaw a khueh atah amah imkhui ah thothueng ham neh buhungnah te a manu napa taengah thuung ham lamhma la cang sak. He tah Pathen hmuhah mikcop la om.
and if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety to their own house, and to give back a repayment to the parents, for this is right and acceptable before God.
5 Tedae nuhmai taktak tih aka omdam loh Pathen soah lat a ngaiuep tih rhenbihnah neh thangthuinah dongah khoyin khothaih om.
And she who is really a widow and desolate, has hoped on God, and remains in the supplications and in the prayers night and day,
6 Tedae omthen aka bawn tah a hing pueng thuem ah duek coeng.
but she given to luxury [while] living has died;
7 Te rhoek khaw na uen daengah ni hmabuet la a om uh eh.
and charge these things, that they may be blameless;
8 Tedae khat khat loh amah huiko neh olpuei la imkhuikho te kho a khan pawt atah tangnah te a hno tih aka tangnahmueh lakah a thae la om.
and if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of the household, he has denied the faith, and he is worse than an unbeliever.
9 Nuhmai la hlum ham tah kum sawmrhuk hmuiah om mahpawh. Va pakhat bueng aka khueh huta,
A widow—do not let her be enrolled under sixty years of age, having been a wife of one husband,
10 Ca a khut atah, yinlai a sawtlet atah, hlangcim rhoek kah kho a silh atah, aka patang rhoek te a sawtlet atah, khoboe then cungkuem neh a rhoih atah khoboe then la phong pai saeh.
being testified to in good works: if she brought up children, if she entertained strangers, if she washed holy ones’ feet, if she relieved those in tribulation, if she followed after every good work;
11 Tedae a haw vaengah tah Khrih hmanah vasak a ngaih dongah nuhmai tanoe rhoek te rhoe dae.
and be refusing younger widows, for when they may revel against the Christ, they wish to marry,
12 Lamhma kah tangnah te a phae uh dongah laitloeknah a yook uh.
having judgment, because they cast away the first faith,
13 Te vaengah palyal khaw pahoi a cang uh, im te a hil uh. Te bueng pawt tih palyal neh hlangthet vueihnam, tomban rhuikha neh a kuek pawt te a thui uh.
and also at the same time, they learn [to be] idle, going around the houses; and not only idle, but also tattlers and busybodies, speaking things they should not;
14 Te dongah tanoe rhoek tah vasak sak ham, cacun sak ham, cangbam sak ka ngaih. Thuithetnah dongah thimkalh te rhoirhinah paek ham moenih.
I intend, therefore, younger ones to marry, to bear children, to be mistress of the house, to give no occasion to the opposer of reviling;
15 Hlangvang loh Satan hnukah oepsoeh la hoi uh.
for some already turned aside after Satan.
16 Uepom pakhat loh nuhmai rhoek a khueh atah amih te sawtlet saeh lamtah hlangboel te bakbahap boel saeh. Te daengah ni nuhmai tang rhoek te a sawtlet thai eh.
If any believing man or believing woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the assembly be burdened, that it may relieve those [who are] really widows.
17 A then la aka mawt patong neh olpuei la olka neh thuituennah dongah aka thakthae rhoek tah rhaepnit la hinyahnah ham tueng pai.
Let them, the well-leading elders, be counted worthy of double honor, especially those laboring in word and teaching,
18 Cacim loh a ti coeng ta. Cangtil vaito pin boeh, “Bibikung tah a thapang nen khaw tiing pai.”
for the Writing says, “You will not muzzle an ox treading out,” and, “Worthy [is] the workman of his reward.”
19 Laipai panit pathum pawt atah a ham kah lai te doe boeh.
Do not receive an accusation against an elder, except on two or three witnesses.
20 Aka tholh rhoek te hlang boeih hmaiah na toeltham daengah ni a tloe long khaw rhihnah a khueh eh.
Reprove those sinning before all, that the others may also have fear;
21 Pathen, Khrih Jesuh neh puencawn a coelh rhoek kah a hmaiah ka laipai. He rhoek he hlaangnah kolla tuem mai, maelhmai sawt nen khaw saii boeh.
I fully testify, before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the chosen messengers, that you may keep these things, without prejudging, doing nothing by partiality.
22 Kut he tokrhat la tloeng thil boeh. Hlanglang rhoek kah tholhnah te boek pah boeh. Namah te a cuem la tuem uh.
Be quickly laying hands on no one, nor be having fellowship with [the] sins of others; be keeping yourself pure;
23 Tui bueng te o boeh. Tedae na bung dongah puet na tloh te khaw misurtui bet saem pah.
no longer be drinking water, but be using a little wine, because of your stomach and of your frequent sicknesses;
24 Hlang a ngen kah tholhnah tah laitloeknah la a pha hlanah lohaa coeng. Tedae a ngen kah tah a hnong pah.
the sins of certain men are evident beforehand, leading before to judgment, but some also they follow after;
25 Khoboe then khaw lohaa van. Te dongah thuh hamla tloekloek aka om rhoek loh noeng uh pawh.
in like manner the right works are also evident beforehand, and those that are otherwise are not able to be hid.
