2 ২ তখন রাজা যিহূদা ও যিরূশালেমের লোকদের, যাজকদের, ভাববাদীদের এবং ছোট ও মহান সমস্ত লোকদের তাঁর সঙ্গে নিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে গেলেন। তখন তিনি সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে ব্যবস্থার যে বইটি পাওয়া গিয়েছিল তার সমস্ত কথা তিনি তাদের শুনিয়ে পড়লেন।

3 ৩ রাজা মঞ্চের উপর দাঁড়িয়ে সদাপ্রভুর পথে চলবার জন্য এবং সমস্ত মন প্রাণ দিয়ে তাঁর সব আদেশ, নিয়ম ও নির্দেশ মেনে চলবার জন্য, অর্থাৎ এই বইয়ের মধ্যে লেখা ব্যবস্থার সমস্ত কথা পালন করবার জন্য সদাপ্রভুর সামনে প্রতিজ্ঞা করলেন এবং সমস্ত লোকেরাও রাজার সঙ্গে একই প্রতিজ্ঞায় সম্মতি দিল।
and to stand: stand [the] king upon [the] pillar and to cut: make(covenant) [obj] [the] covenant to/for face: before LORD to/for to go: walk after LORD and to/for to keep: obey commandment his and [obj] testimony his and [obj] statute his in/on/with all heart and in/on/with all soul to/for to arise: establish [obj] word [the] covenant [the] this [the] to write upon [the] scroll: book [the] this and to stand: stand all [the] people in/on/with covenant
4 ৪ রাজা তখন বাল দেবতা ও আশেরা এবং আকাশের সমস্ত তারাগুলোর পূজার জন্য তৈরী সব জিনিসপত্র সদাপ্রভুর ঘর থেকে বের করে ফেলবার জন্য মহাযাজক হিল্কিয়কে, দ্বিতীয় শ্রেণীর যাজককে এবং দারোয়ানদের আদেশ দিলেন। তিনি সেগুলো যিরূশালেমের বাইরে কিদ্রোণ উপত্যকার মাঠে পুড়িয়ে দিলেন এবং ছাইগুলো বৈথেলে নিয়ে গেলেন।
and to command [the] king [obj] Hilkiah [the] priest [the] great: large and [obj] priest [the] second and [obj] to keep: guard [the] threshold to/for to come out: send from temple LORD [obj] all [the] article/utensil [the] to make to/for Baal and to/for Asherah and to/for all army [the] heaven and to burn them from outside to/for Jerusalem in/on/with field Kidron and to lift: bear [obj] dust their Bethel Bethel
5 ৫ তিনি যিহূদার শহরগুলোর এবং যিরূশালেমের চারপাশের উঁচু স্থানগুলোতে ধূপ জ্বালাবার জন্য যিহূদার রাজারা যে সব প্রতিমাপূজাকারী যাজকদের নিযুক্ত করেছিলেন, অর্থাৎ যারা বাল দেবতা, চাঁদ, সূর্য্য, গ্রহদের এবং আকাশের সমস্ত বাহিনীদের উদ্দেশ্যে ধূপ জ্বালাত তাদের তিনি দূর করে দিলেন।
and to cease [obj] [the] pagan priest which to give: put king Judah and to offer: offer in/on/with high place in/on/with city Judah and surrounds Jerusalem and [obj] [the] to offer: burn to/for Baal to/for sun and to/for moon and to/for constellation and to/for all army [the] heaven
6 ৬ তিনি সদাপ্রভুর ঘর থেকে আশেরার মূর্তির খুঁটিটা বার করে নিয়ে এসে যিরূশালেমের বাইরে কিদ্রোণ উপত্যকাতে সেটা নিয়ে গিয়ে পুড়িয়ে দিলেন। তারপর সেটা গুঁড়া করলেন এবং তার ধূলো সাধারণ লোকদের কবরের উপরে ছড়িয়ে দিলেন।

7 ৭ পুরুষ বেশ্যাদের যে কামরাগুলো সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে ছিল যেখানে স্ত্রীলোকেরা আশেরার জন্য কাপড় বুনত তিনি সেগুলো ভেঙে পরিষ্কার করে দিলেন।
and to tear [obj] house: home [the] male cult prostitute which in/on/with house: temple LORD which [the] woman to weave there house: container to/for Asherah
8 ৮ যোশিয় যিহূদার শহর ও গ্রামগুলো থেকে সমস্ত যাজকদের বাইরে আনালেন এবং গেবা থেকে বের-শেবা পর্যন্ত যে সব পূজার উঁচু স্থানগুলোতে সেই যাজকেরা ধূপ জ্বালাত সেগুলো অশূচি করে দিলেন। তিনি শাসনকর্ত্তা যিহোশূয়ের ফটকে ঢোকার পথে যে সব পূজার উঁচু স্থান ছিল সেগুলো ভেঙে ফেললেন। এই ফটকদ্বার শহরের প্রধান ফটকে প্রবেশকারীর বাঁদিকে ছিল।

9 ৯ সেই উঁচুস্থানগুলোর যাজকদের যিরূশালেমে সদাপ্রভুর যজ্ঞবেদীতে বলিদান করতে অনুমতি ছিল না, কিন্তু তারা অন্যান্য যাজক ভাইদের সঙ্গে খামি ছাড়া রুটি খেতে পারত।

10 ১০ অন্য কেউ যাতে মোলক দেবতার উদ্দেশ্যে নিজের ছেলে বা মেয়েকে আগুনে পুড়িয়ে হোমবলি উৎসর্গ করতে না পারে সেইজন্য যোশিয় বেন্হিন্নোম উপত্যকার তোফৎ নামে জায়গাটা অশূচি করলেন।

11 ১১ যিহূদার রাজারা যে সব রথ ও ঘোড়াগুলো সূর্য্যের উদ্দেশ্যে দিয়েছিলেন যোশিয় সেই ঘোড়াগুলো দূর করে দিয়ে রথগুলো পুড়িয়ে দিলেন। সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে ঢোকবার পথের পাশে, উঠানের মধ্যে, নথন-মেলক নামে একজন রাজকর্মচারীর কামরার কাছে ঘোড়াগুলো রাখা হত।

12 ১২ রাজা আহসের উপরের কামরার ছাদের উপরে যিহূদার রাজারা যে সব যজ্ঞবেদী তৈরী করেছিলেন এবং সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের দুটি উঠানে মনঃশি যে সব যজ্ঞবেদী তৈরী করেছিলেন যোশিয় সেগুলো ভেঙে টুকরো টুকরো করে কিদ্রোণ উপত্যকায় ফেলে দিলেন।

13 ১৩ যিরূশালেমের পূর্ব দিকে ধ্বংসের পাহাড়ের দক্ষিণে যে সব উঁচু স্থান ছিল সেগুলো তিনি অশূচি করলেন। ইস্রায়েলের রাজা শলোমন সীদোনীয়দের জঘন্য দেবী অষ্টোরতের জন্য, মোয়াবের জঘন্য দেবতা কমোশের জন্য এবং অম্মোনের লোকদের জঘন্য দেবতা মিল্কমের জন্য এই সব উঁচু স্থান তৈরী করেছিলেন। সে সকলই তিনি অশূচি করলেন।

14 ১৪ যোশিয় রাজা পবিত্র পাথরগুলো ভেঙে ফেললেন এবং আশেরার মূর্তিগুলিও কেটে ফেললেন আর সেই জায়গাগুলো মানুষের হাড়ে পূরণ করে দিলেন।
and to break [obj] [the] pillar and to cut: cut [obj] [the] Asherah and to fill [obj] place their bone man
15 ১৫ নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়াম যিনি ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে পাপ করিয়েছিলেন তিনি বৈথেলে যে যজ্ঞবেদী ও উঁচু স্থান তৈরী করেছিলেন সেটি যোশিয় ভেঙে দিয়েছিলেন। যোশিয় সেই উঁচু স্থানটা আগুনে পুড়িয়ে দিলেন ও পিষে গুড়ো করলেন।

16 ১৬ তারপর তিনি চারপাশে তাকিয়ে দেখলেন এবং পাহাড়ের কাছে কিছু কবর দেখতে পেলেন। তিনি তাঁর লোক পাঠিয়ে সেই কবর থেকে হাড় আনিয়ে সেগুলো যজ্ঞবেদীর উপর পোড়ালেন এবং সেটি অশূচি করলেন। সদাপ্রভুর সেই কথা অনুযায়ী সবই হয়েছিল যা ঈশ্বরের লোক সব ঘটনার কথা আগে ঘোষণা করেছিলেন।

17 ১৭ তখন তিনি বললেন, “আমি ওটা কোন স্তম্ভ দেখতে পাচ্ছি?” শহরের লোকেরা তাঁকে বলল, “ঈশ্বরের যে লোক যিহূদা থেকে এসে বৈথেলের যজ্ঞবেদীর বিরুদ্ধে আপনার এই সমস্ত কাজের কথা প্রচার করেছিলেন, এটি তাঁরই কবর।”

18 ১৮ তখন যোশিয় বললেন, “ওটা থাকুক; কেউ যেন তাঁর হাড়গুলো না সরিয়ে দেয়।” সুতরাং লোকেরা তাঁর হাড়গোড় এবং যে ভাববাদী শমরিয়া থেকে এসেছিলেন তাঁর হাড়গোড় তেমনই থাকতে দিল।

19 ১৯ শমরিয়ার শহর ইস্রায়েলের রাজারা উঁচু স্থানে যে সব মন্দির তৈরী করে সদাপ্রভুকে অসন্তুষ্ট করেছিলেন, যোশিয় সেগুলো দূর করে দিলেন এবং সেগুলির অবস্থা বৈথেলে যেমন করেছিলেন ঠিক সেই রকম করলেন।

20 ২০ তিনি সেই সব যজ্ঞবেদীর উপরে সেখানকার যাজকদের বলিদান করলেন এবং সেগুলির উপর মানুষের হাড় পোড়ালেন। তারপরে তিনি যিরূশালেমে ফিরে গেলেন।
and to sacrifice [obj] all priest [the] high place which there upon [the] altar and to burn [obj] bone man upon them and to return: return Jerusalem
21 ২১ তখন রাজা সব লোকদের আদেশ দিয়ে বললেন, “ব্যবস্থার বইয়ে যেমন লেখা আছে তেমনি করে আপনাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে নিস্তারপর্ব্ব পালন করুন।”

22 ২২ ইস্রায়েলীয়দের শাসনকালে বিচারকদের আমলে কিম্বা ইস্রায়েল ও যিহূদার রাজাদের আমলে এই ধরনের নিস্তারপর্ব্ব কখনো পালন করা হয়নি।

23 ২৩ যদিও যোশিয় রাজার রাজত্বকালে আঠারো বছরের দিনের যিরূশালেমে সদাপ্রভুর জন্য এই নিস্তারপর্ব্ব পালন করা হয়েছিল।

24 ২৪ এছাড়া যারা মৃতদের সঙ্গে এবং যারা মন্দ আত্মার সঙ্গে কথা বলতেন যোশিয় তাদের তাড়িয়ে দিলেন। তিনি পারিবারিক দেবতার মূর্ত্তি, প্রতিমা এবং যিহূদা ও যিরূশালেমে যে সব ঘৃণার জিনিসপত্র দেখতে পেলেন সেগুলোও সব দূর করে দিলেন। হিল্কিয় যাজক সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে যে ব্যবস্থার কথা লেখা বই খুঁজে পেয়েছিলেন তার সব বাক্য যেন সঠিকভাবে মান্য করা হয় সেইজন্য যোশিয় এই সব কাজ করেছিলেন।

25 ২৫ যোশিয় রাজার আগে আর কোনো রাজাই তাঁর মত ছিলেন না যিনি তাঁর মত সমস্ত মন, প্রাণ ও শক্তি দিয়ে মোশির সমস্ত ব্যবস্থা অনুযায়ী সদাপ্রভুর পথে চলতেন। না কোনো রাজা যোশিয় রাজার মত পরে উঠেছিলেন।

26 ২৬ তবুও, যিহূদার বিরুদ্ধে যে ভয়ঙ্কর ক্রোধে সদাপ্রভু প্রজ্বলিতি হয়ে উঠেছিলেন তা থেকে তিনি ফিরলেন না, যেমন মনঃশির অসন্তোষ জনক কাজের ফলে সদাপ্রভু অসন্তুষ্ট হয়েছিলেন।
surely not to return: return LORD from burning anger face: anger his [the] great: large which to be incensed face: anger his in/on/with Judah upon all [the] vexation which to provoke him Manasseh
27 ২৭ সেইজন্য সদাপ্রভু বললেন, “আমি আমার চোখের সামনে থেকে যেমন করে আমি ইস্রায়েলকে দূর করেছি তেমনি করে যিহূদাকেও দূর করব, আর যে শহরকে আমি বেছে নিয়েছিলাম সেই যিরূশালেমকে এবং যার সম্বন্ধে আমি বলেছিলাম, ‘আমার নাম সেখানে থাকবে’ সেই ঘরকেও আমি অগ্রাহ্য করব।”
and to say LORD also [obj] Judah to turn aside: remove from upon face my like/as as which to turn aside: remove [obj] Israel and to reject [obj] [the] city [the] this which to choose [obj] Jerusalem and [obj] [the] house: home which to say to be name my there
28 ২৮ যোশিয়ের অন্যান্য সমস্ত অবশিষ্ট কাজের কথা যা কিছু তিনি করেছিলেন যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?

29 ২৯ তাঁর রাজত্বের দিনের মিশরের রাজা ফরৌণ নখো অশূর রাজার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর দিকে গেলেন। তখন যোশিয় রাজা নখোর সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করবার জন্য বের হলেন এবং ফরৌণ নখো যুদ্ধ করে তাঁকে মগিদ্দোতে মেরে ফেললেন।

30 ৩০ যোশিয়ের দাসেরা তাঁর মৃত দেহ রথে করে মগিদ্দো থেকে যিরূশালেমে নিয়ে আসলো এবং তাঁর নিজের কবরে তাঁকে কবর দিল। পরে দেশের লোকেরা যোশিয়ের ছেলে যিহোয়াহসকে অভিষেক করে তাঁর বাবার জায়গায় তাঁকে রাজা করল।
and to ride him servant/slave his to die from Megiddo and to come (in): bring him Jerusalem and to bury him in/on/with tomb his and to take: take people [the] land: country/planet [obj] Jehoahaz son: child Josiah and to anoint [obj] him and to reign [obj] him underneath: instead father his
31 ৩১ যিহোয়াহস তেইশ বছর বয়সে ছিলেন যখন তিনি রাজত্ব শুরু করেছিলেন এবং তিনি তিন মাস যিরূশালেমে রাজত্ব করেছিলেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম ছিল হমূটল; তিনি লিব্নার বাসিন্দা যিরমিয়ের মেয়ে ছিলেন।

33 ৩৩ ফরৌণ নখো তাঁকে হমাৎ দেশের রিব্লাতে আটক করে রাখলেন যেন তিনি যিরূশালেমে রাজত্ব করতে না পারেন। তখন নখো একশো তালন্ত রূপো (প্রায় চার টন রূপো) ও এক তালন্ত সোনা (ঊনচল্লিশ কেজি সোনা) যিহূদা দেশের উপর জরিমানা করলেন।

34 ৩৪ পরে ফরৌণ নখো যোশিয়ের অন্য ছেলে ইলীয়াকীমকে তাঁর বাবা যোশিয়ের জায়গায় রাজা করলেন এবং ইলীয়াকীমের নাম বদল করে যিহোয়াকীম রাখলেন। কিন্তু ফরৌণ নখো যিহোয়াহসকে মিশরে নিয়ে গেলেন এবং সেখানে যিহোয়াহস মারা গেলেন।

35 ৩৫ যিহোয়াকীম ফরৌণকে সেই সোনা ও রূপা দিলেন। ফরৌণের আদেশ অনুসারে তা দেওয়ার জন্য তিনি দেশের লোকদের উপর কর চাপালেন। দেশের প্রত্যেকে মানুষের উপর কর ধার্য্য করে সেই সোনা ও রূপা তিনি ফরৌণ নখোকে দেবার জন্য দেশের লোকদের কাছ থেকে আদায় করলেন।

36 ৩৬ যিহোয়াকীমের বয়স পঁচিশ বছর ছিল যখন তিনি রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করলেন। তিনি এগারো বছর যিরূশালেমে রাজত্ব করেছিলেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম ছিল সবীদা; তিনি ছিলেন রূমায় বাসিন্দা পদায়ের মেয়ে।
