1 Şərab insanları ələ salar, Kefləndirici içki onları dalaşdırar, Sərxoş olan müdrik olmaz.
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
2 Padşahın vahiməsi aslan nərəsinə bənzər, Onu əsəbləşdirən canını itirər.
The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provokes him to anger sins against his own soul.
3 Münaqişədən çəkinmək insana şərəf gətirər, Hər səfeh davaya girişər.
It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
4 Mövsümündə kotan sürməyən tənbəl əkinçi Biçin vaxtı heç nə tapmaz.
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Ürəyin düşüncələri dərin sulara oxşar, Dərrakəli adam onu çəkib çıxarar.
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 İnsanların çoxu sədaqətindən dəm vurar. Amma sadiq adamı haradan tapmaq olar?
Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
7 Saleh kamalı ilə yaşar, Özündən sonra gələn nəsli bəxtiyar olar.
The just man walks in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
8 Nə zaman ki padşah hökm üçün taxta çıxar, Gözləri ilə bütün pisliyi sovurar.
A king that sits in the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Kim deyər ki, qəlbimi təmizləmişəm, Günahımı silmişəm?
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
10 Aldadıcı ölçü, aldadıcı çəki – Hər ikisi Rəbdə ikrah yaradar.
Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
11 Hətta uşaq da əməlləri ilə, İşlərinin saf, doğru, yoxsa əksinə olması ilə tanınar.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
12 Eşidən qulaq, görən gözlər – Bunların hər ikisini yaradan Rəbdir.
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD has made even both of them.
13 Sevmə yatmağı, yoxsullaşarsan, Ayıq ol, onda bol çörəyə çatarsan.
Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 Müştəri deyər: «Pisdir, pis maldır», Amma alıb gedəndə özünü öyər.
It is nil, it is nil, says the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 Qızıl və çox yaqut var, Amma ağıllı söz danışan dil qiymətli cəvahirdir.
There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
16 Özgəyə zamin duranın libasını al, Onu qəriblər üçün girov saxla.
Take his garment that is guarantor for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
17 Kələklə əldə edilən çörək əvvəlcə şirin olar, Axırda ağzı çınqılla doldurar.
Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18 Nəsihət alaraq möhkəm qərar çıxar, Müharibəni sağlam məsləhətlə apar.
Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19 Sözgəzdirən sirləri açıb yayar, Gərək boşboğaza qoşulmayasan.
He that goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flatters with his lips.
20 Kim ki atasına, anasına qarğış edər, Zülmətə düşərkən çırağı sönər.
Whoso curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
21 Tələsik alınan mülk Axırda xeyir gətirməz.
An inheritance may be got hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
22 Demə «bu pisliyin əvəzini çıxacağam» Rəbbi gözlə, qoy O səni xilas etsin.
Say not you, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save you.
23 Fərqli çəki daşları Rəbdə ikrah yaradar, O, aldadıcı tərəzidən xoşlanmaz.
Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
24 Kişiyə addım atdıran Rəbdir. Bəs tutduğu yolu insan necə anlasın?
Man's activities are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25 Düşünmədən nəzir edən özünü tələyə salar, Sonra öz əhdi barədə çox fikirləşməli olar.
It is a snare to the man who devours that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.
26 Hikmətli padşah pisləri sovurar, Onlar dəyirman daşında üyüdülər.
A wise king scatters the wicked, and brings the wheel over them.
27 İnsanın ruhu Rəbbin çırağıdır, Daxilinin dərin yerlərini araşdırar.
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
28 Padşahı məhəbbət və sədaqət qoruyar, Taxtını xeyirxahlıq möhkəm saxlar.
Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne supported by mercy.
29 Gəncləri qüvvəti şərəfləndirər, Ağ saçlar qocalara zinət verər.
The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.
30 Yaralayıcı zərbələr pis insanı düzəldə bilər, Kötəkləmək daxilin dərin yerlərinə təsir edə bilər.
The blueness of a wound cleanses away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
