< Luka 23 >

1 Vat lipitin mine fita, ida nin Yesu nbun Bilatus.
AND the whole multitude of them rising up, led him to Pilate,
2 I tunna nvuruzughe nliru, I woro, “Ti se unit ulele adin nanzu nmyin bite, a wantina anit uni in Kaisar ku ugandu, a din belu ame litine Kristiari, Ugo.”
and began to accuse him, saying, We have found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay tribute to Caesar; pretending that he himself is the King Messiah.
3 Bilatus tiringhe, a woro, “Fere Ugo na Yahudawa?” Yesu kawa ghe a woro, “Fere nbelle nani.”
Then Pilate interrogated him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said to him, Thou sayest so.
4 Bilatus woro na didya na prieste nin lipitin nanit. “Na nse unit ulele nin taanu ba.”
Then said Pilate unto the chief priests and the multitudes, I find nothing culpable in this man.
5 Amma ileo ubun nin sho nati, i woro, “Adin rusuzu anit, adin dursuzu anit nan nyan Yahudiya vat, ucizunun Galili uda duru kikane.”
But they were urgent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching through all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place.
6 Na Bilatus nlanza nani, a tirino sa unite kunan Galiliari.
When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilean?
7 Na ayinno adi nmyin tigon Hirudus ari, a turung Yesu ku udu kitin Hirudus, ama litine wang wadin Urshalima nayiri ane.
And when he knew that he came out of Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was himself at Jerusalem in those days.
8 Na Hirudus in yene Yesu ku, ayi poo ghe, bara na dandauna nin su nworu a yeneghe. Ana lanza ubeleng me amini din piziru ayeneghe asu imon izikiki.
Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was vastly delighted: for he had been long desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some miracle wrought by him.
9 Hirudus tirino Yesu ku uliru gbardang, amma na Yesu nkawa ghe imon ba.
And he put a variety of questions to him; but he made him no reply.
10 Adidya na priest nin na nan ninyerte fita, nin tinana nayi nvuruzughe nliru.
And the chief priests and the scribes stood up vehemently accusing him.
11 Hirudus nin nasoja me zognzo ghe, I kuru isu ghe liyong, inin shonghe imon icine, inin kurtuno Yesu ku udu kitin Bilatus.
Then Herod with his guards treated him with contempt, and in derision clothed him in a splendid robe, and sent him back to Pilate.
12 Hirudus nin Bilatus waso adondon nati lilone (amma iwa tu iyita anan nivira nati).
And Pilate and Herod the same day became friends together: for they had previously been at enmity with each other.
13 Bilatus tunna ayicila udya na priest, nin nagoo a ligozi nanite kiti kirum,
Then Pilate, convoking the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 a woro nani, “Ida nayi unit ulele nafo unit ulenge na adin cinu nin nait nanzang, yeneng, meng, nbun minere ntiroghe uliru, na nse ghe nin kulapi kitene nile imon na idi uvuruzughe mun ba.
said unto them, Ye have brought this man to me, as one who perverteth the people: and lo! on examining him before you, I have found nothing culpable in this man, respecting the charges ye bring against him:
15 Baba, sa ame Hirudus wang, a kurtunghe udak kiti bite, yenen, na asu imong imon ilenge na iduru nworu aku ba.
nor Herod neither: for I referred you to him; and, lo, nothing is done to this man, as if he deserved death.
16 Bara nani mma tighe aneo, nsunghe.”
I will therefore, after scourging, discharge him.
17 Amma uwa so Bilatus ju gbas a nutun a Yahudawe ku kucin kurum kilari licin kubin idi.
(Now he held it necessary to release one to them at the feast.)
18 Vat mine jartiza kang, I woro, “Caan nin nit ulele, I nutun nari Barabas ku!”
Then the whole multitude set up a cry, saying, Away with this fellow, and release unto us Barabbas!
19 Barabas unitari wadi ulenge na iwa ceo ghe licin kitene kulapi nsali dortu nliru tigo kipine nin katwa likiri.
(who for a certain sedition raised in the city, and for murder, had been cast into prison.)
20 Bilatus kuru asu nani uliru tutung, nin su nworu a sun Yesu ku.
Again therefore Pilate called out to them, desirous to see Jesus at liberty.
21 Ijaritiza I woro, “Na ikotinghe kuca, na ikotinghe kuca.”
But they clamoured the more, saying, Crucify, crucify him.
22 A woro nani tutung untat, “Iyanghari, kuyapin kulapiari unit ulele nati? Na meng see ghe nin kulapi kongo na batin ushara nkul liti me ba. Bara nani, asa nkpizoghe mma sunghe.”
Then the third time he said to them, What evil hath this man done? I have found nothing deserving death in him: I will therefore, after scourging, discharge him.
23 Amma ileo ubun njartiza kang, npiru nworu ikotinghe kucha. Tiwui mine ta Bilatus yinna.
But they were instant with the most clamorous vociferations, soliciting that he might be crucified. And their clamours, and those of the chief priests, bore him down.
24 Bilatus yinna nani nin kuculu mine.
Then Pilate decreed that their petition should be granted.
25 A nutuno ulenge na inung tirino nworu inutun ule na ina ceo kilari licin kitene in fizu nay nanit a umolsu nanit. Amma ana nani Yesu ku nafo usu nibinai mine.
Then released he to them him who for sedition and murder had been cast into prison; but he gave up Jesus to their will.
26 Na inya ninghe, ikifo umong Simon unit Nkirawani, awa nuzun nan nya ntene, itina ghe kuca ndi kotunue, a dortu Yesu ku.
And as they led him out, laying hold on one Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, they laid on him the cross, to carry after Jesus.
27 Ligozi nanit gbardang, nin nawani ale na iwa di tiyomme wa din dortu ghe.
And a great multitude of the people and of women followed him, who also beat their breasts and lamented him bitterly.
28 A gbitirno kiti mine, Yesu woro, “Nishonon Urshalima, na iwa gilu meng ku ba, ama gilan atimine nin nono mine.
But Jesus turning to them, said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but for yourselves, and for your children.
29 Amma yenen, ayire din cinu na ima woru, 'Anan koliari awani are, nin naburi ale na ina maru ba, nin na yazin ale na amazina ba.'
For, behold, the days are coming, in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs which have not borne, and the breasts which never suckled.
30 Ima cizunu ubelu na kup, 'Dio nati bite,' a apara, 'Kiro nari.'
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us! and to the hills, Cover us!
31 Iwa su ile imone a kuce dutu kushiti, Iyaghari ma se ku wa malu kotu?”
For if they do all these things with the green wood, what will be done with the dry?
32 Iwa yiru among anit naba anan likara linanzang idi molu ligowe ninghe.
Now there were two other persons, malefactors, led out with him to be executed.
33 Na iwa dak kiti kanga na idin yicu akankan nati, kitenere iwa kotunghe kucaa ligowe nin nanan likara linanzang, unit urum ncara uline a unan be ncara ngule me.
And when they came to a place called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, the one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Yesu woro, “Ucif, wesse nani alapi mine, bara na iyiru imon ile na idin sue ba.” I tunna idinja timo, I koso imon me.
And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. Then dividing his garments, they cast the lot.
35 Anite yissina in yenju ghe a imung ago mina yita nsughe liyong, idin su, “Ana tucu among. Na atuca litine, andi amere Kristi Kutelle, unan feruwe.”
And the people stood looking on. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if this fellow is the Messiah, the elect of God.
36 Inung anan likum wang sughe liyong, ida kupo me, ina ghe nmyen migbalala,
And the soldiers also insulted him, coming and offering him vinegar,
37 idin belu, “Andi fere uga na Yahudawe, tucu litife.”
and saying, if thou art the King of the Jews, save thyself.
38 I wa su imong inyerte ibana kitene litine, “ULELERE UGO NA YAHUDAWA.”
And there was an inscription written over him in Greek, Roman, and Hebrew characters, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Unit urum nan nya na nan likara linanzanghe na iwa kotunghe kuce, belinghe lifai, a woro, “Na fere Kristeba? Tucu litife umunu arik ku.”
Then one of the suspended malefactors blasphemed him, saying, If thou art the Messiah, save thyself and us.
40 Ame unan be kawa, a kwada ghe a woro, “Na udin lanzu fiu Kutelle ba, bara na ushara fe di urume nin ghe?
But the other addressing him, rebuked him, saying, Hast thou no fear of God, when thou art under the same condemnation?
41 Kiti bite udi dert, arik din seru nduk katwa bitari. Na unit ulele na su imonmong inanzang ba.”
And we indeed justly, for we receive deserved punishment for the crimes we have committed: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 A kpinaku, a woro, “Yesu, lizino nin mi asa upira kipin tigo fe.”
And he said to Jesus, Remember me, Lord, when thou comest in thy kingdom.
43 Yesu woroghe, “Kidegenere nbelin fi, uma yitu nin mi kipin tigo nighe.”
And Jesus said to him. Verily I say unto thee, To-day thou shalt be with me in paradise.
44 Kube da susut nin nikoro kutocin, nsirti tursu kutyine vat uduru ikoro kutir
And it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
45 na nkanang nwii nmala. Kusakala kutyi nlira jarta kyitik kitene utolu kadas.
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 Yesu jarta nin liwui kang ayila, a woro “Ucif, nan nya nacara fere nnakpa ulai ning.” Na a belle nani, aku.
And Jesus crying with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit: and having said this, he expired.
47 Na udya na nan likum akalt likure in yene imon ile isu, azazina Kutelle, a woro, “Kidegenere, ulele unan katwa kacineari nadi.”
And the centurion observing what had come to pass, glorified God, saying, Verily this man was a righteous person.
48 Na vat ligozie na iwa dak ida ti iyizi nba nimon ile na isu yene imon ile na ise, ikpilla idin fo igiri.
And all the multitudes who had come together for this spectacle, when they saw the things which were done, beating their breasts, returned.
49 Vat na nan yiru me, nin na wani ale na ina dofin ghe unuzun Galili, yissina pit, idin yenju ni leli imone.
And all his acquaintance stood afar off, and the women which followed him from Galilee, beholding these things.
50 Umong unit wa diku unan lissan Yusufu, nan nya na nan kpiluzu, unit ugegeme nin katwa kacine
And lo! a man named Joseph, being a member of the council, a good man, and a just;

(who had not given his assent to their determination and deed; ) being of Arimathea, a city of the Jews: who himself also expected the coming of the kingdom of God.
52 Unit une do kitin Bilatus, tirino kidowon Yesu.
He went in to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 A toltuno kinin, a jinkpilo nin malti ulau, adi nonko nan nya kissek na ina sarsu nan nya kutala, kikanga na isa nonko umong ku ba.
And taking it down from the cross, he wrapped it in linen cloth, and laid it in a sepulchre hewn out of a rock, where none had ever yet lain.
54 Uwui nshiriari wadi, Assabath wa dak susut npiru.
And that was the preparation-day, and the sabbath’s twilight was approaching.
55 Awane na iwa dak nanghe unuzun Galili, dofino kidung, iyene kissekke iyene imusun nonkue kidowe non.
Then the women also, his attendants, who had followed him out of Galilee, observed the sepulchre, and how his corpse was laid out.
56 I kpilla, ida shirya nnuf kunya min tintu. Lirin Nasabbath ishino nafo ubellin duke.
And returning, they made preparation of aromatics and unguents; and they rested the sabbath-day, according to the commandment.
