Salmos 51

1 Tem misericórdia de mim, ó Deus, segundo a tua benignidade; apaga as minhas transgressões, segundo a multidão das tuas misericórdias.

For the leader. A psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet come to him after he had been with Bathsheba. In your kindness, O God, be gracious to me, in your own great pity blot out my transgressions.

2 Lava-me completamente da minha iniquidade, e purifica-me do meu pecado.

Wash me clean of my guilt, make me pure of my sin.

3 Porque eu conheço as minhas transgressões, e o meu pecado está sempre diante de mim.

For well I know my transgressions, my sin is ever before me.

4 Contra ti, contra ti somente pequei, e fiz o que é mau à tua vista, para que sejas justificado quando falares, e puro quando julgares.

Against you, only you, have I sinned, and done that which is wrong in your sight: you therefore are just when you speak, and clear when you utter judgment.

5 Eis que em iniquidade fui formado, e em pecado me concebeu minha mãe.

See! In guilt was I brought to the birth, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Eis que amas a verdade no intimo, e no oculto me fazes conhecer a sabedoria.

It’s the innermost truth you desire, give me therefore true wisdom of heart.

7 Purifica-me com hissope, e ficarei puro: lava-me, e ficarei mais branco do que a neve.

Purge me clean with hyssop, wash me whiter than snow.

8 Faze-me ouvir júbilo e alegria, para que gozem os ossos que tu quebraste.

Fill me with joy and gladness, let the bones you have broken rejoice.

9 Esconde a tua face dos meus pecados, e apaga todas as minhas iniquidades.

Hide your face from my sins, and blot out my guilt altogether.

10 Cria em mim, ó Deus, um coração puro, e renova em mim um espírito reto.

Create me a clean heart, O God, put a new steadfast spirit within me.

11 Não me lances fora da tua presença, e não retires de mim o teu Espírito Santo.

Cast me not forth from your presence, withdraw not your holy spirit.

12 Torna a dar-me a alegria da tua salvação, e sustem-me com o teu espírito voluntário.

Give me back the joy of your help, with a willing spirit sustain me.

13 Então ensinarei aos transgressores os teus caminhos, e os pecadores a ti se converterão.

I will teach your ways to transgressors, and sinners shall turn to you.

14 Livra-me dos crimes de sangue, ó Deus, Deus da minha salvação, e a minha língua louvará altamente a tua justiça.

Save me from blood, O God, and my tongue shall ring out your faithfulness.

15 Abre, Senhor, os meus lábios, e a minha boca entoará o teu louvor.

Open my lips, O Lord, and my mouth shall declare your praise.

16 Pois não queres os sacrifícios que eu daria; tu não te deleitas em holocaustos.

For in sacrifice you have no pleasure, in gifts of burnt-offering no delight.

17 Os sacrifícios para Deus são o espírito quebrantado; a um coração quebrantado e contrito não desprezarás, ó Deus.

The sacrifice pleasing to God is a spirit that is broken; a heart that is crushed, O God, you will not despise.

18 Faze o bem a Sião, segundo a tua boa vontade; edifica os muros de Jerusalém.

Do good in your pleasure to Zion, build the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Então te agradarás dos sacrifícios da justiça, dos holocaustos e das ofertas queimadas; então se oferecerão novilhos sobre o teu altar.

Then will you welcome the due forms of sacrifice, then on your altars shall bullocks be offered.
