Esdras 3
1 Chegando pois o sétimo mes, e estando os filhos de Israel já nas cidades, se ajuntou o povo, como um só homem, em Jerusalém.
And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.
2 E levantou-se Josué, filho de Josadak, e seus irmãos, os sacerdotes, e Zorobabel, filho de Sealthiel, e seus irmãos, e edificaram o altar do Deus de Israel, para offerecerem sobre ele holocausto, como está escrito na lei de Moisés, o homem de Deus
Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
3 E firmaram o altar sobre as suas bases, porque o terror estava sobre eles, por causa dos povos das terras: e ofereceram sobre ele holocaustos ao Senhor, holocaustos de manhã e de tarde.
And they set the altar on his bases; for fear was on them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon to the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.
4 E celebraram a festa dos tabernáculos, como está escrito: ofereceram holocaustos de dia em dia por ordem, conforme ao rito, cada coisa no seu dia.
They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;
5 E depois disto o holocausto contínuo, e os das luas novas e de todas as solenidades santificadas do Senhor; como também de qualquer que oferecia oferta voluntária ao Senhor:
And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering to the LORD.
6 Desde o primeiro dia do sétimo mês começaram a oferecer holocaustos ao Senhor: porém ainda não estavam postos os fundamentos do templo do Senhor.
From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings to the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.
7 Deram pois o dinheiro aos cortadores e artífices, como também comida e bebida, e azeite aos sidônios, e aos tyrios, para trazerem do líbano madeira de cedro ao mar de Joppe, segundo a concessão que lhes tinha feito Cyro, rei da Pérsia.
They gave money also to the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, to them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
8 E no segundo ano da sua vinda à casa de Deus em Jerusalém, no segundo mes, começaram Zorobabel, filho de Sealthiel, e Josué, filho de Josadak, e os outros seus irmãos, os sacerdotes e os levitas, e todos os que vieram do cativeiro a Jerusalém; e constituiram os levitas da idade de vinte anos e daí para cima, para que aviassem a obra da casa do Senhor.
Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
9 Então se levantou Josué, seus filhos, e seus irmãos, Kadmiel e seus filhos, os filhos de Judá, como um só homem, para aviarem os que faziam a obra na casa de Deus, com os filhos de Henadad, seus filhos e seus irmãos, os levitas.
Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brothers the Levites.
10 Quando pois os edificadores lançaram os alicerces do templo do Senhor, então apresentaram-se os sacerdotes, já vestidos e com trombetas, e os levitas, filhos d'Asaph, com saltérios, para louvarem ao Senhor, conforme à instituição de David, rei de Israel.
And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
11 E cantavam a revezes, louvando e celebrando ao Senhor; porque é bom; porque a sua benignidade dura para sempre sobre Israel. E todo o povo jubilou com grande júbilo, quando louvaram ao Senhor, pela fundação da casa do Senhor.
And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks to the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endures for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.
12 Porém muitos dos sacerdotes, e levitas e chefes dos pais, já velhos, que viram a primeira casa, sobre o seu fundamento, vendo perante os seus olhos esta casa, choraram em altas vozes; mas muitos levantaram as vozes com júbilo e com alegria.
But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
13 De maneira que não discernia o povo as vozes do júbilo de alegria, das vozes do choro do povo; porque o povo jubilava com tão grande júbilo, que as vozes se ouviam de mui longe.
So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.
