می باشد، و به هر حکمت صحیح مجادله میکند. | ۱ 1 |
He that separateth himself seeketh [his own] desire, and rageth against all sound wisdom.
احمق از فطانت مسرور نمی شود، مگر تاآنکه عقل خود را ظاهر سازد. | ۲ 2 |
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may reveal itself.
هنگامی که شریر میآید، حقارت هم میآید، و با اهانت، خجالت میرسد. | ۳ 3 |
When the wicked cometh, there cometh also contempt, and with ignominy cometh reproach.
سخنان دهان انسان آب عمیق است، وچشمه حکمت، نهر جاری است. | ۴ 4 |
The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters; the wellspring of wisdom is as a flowing brook.
طرفداری شریران برای منحرف ساختن داوری عادلان نیکو نیست. | ۵ 5 |
To accept the person of the wicked is not good, [nor] to turn aside the righteous in judgment.
لبهای احمق به منازعه داخل میشود، ودهانش برای ضربها صدا میزند. | ۶ 6 |
A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for stripes.
دهان احمق هلاکت وی است، و لبهایش برای جان خودش دام است. | ۷ 7 |
A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
سخنان نمام مثل لقمه های شیرین است، و به عمق شکم فرو میرود. | ۸ 8 |
The words of a whisperer are as dainty, morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
او نیز که در کار خود اهمال میکند برادرهلاک کننده است. | ۹ 9 |
He also that is slack in his work is brother to him that is a destroyer.
اسم خداوند برج حصین است که مرد عادل در آن میدود و ایمن میباشد. | ۱۰ 10 |
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
توانگری شخص دولتمند شهر محکم اواست، و در تصور وی مثل حصار بلند است. | ۱۱ 11 |
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own imagination.
پیش از شکستگی، دل انسان متکبرمی گردد، و تواضع مقدمه عزت است. | ۱۲ 12 |
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour [goeth] humility.
هرکه سخنی را قبل از شنیدنش جواب دهد برای وی حماقت و عار میباشد. | ۱۳ 13 |
He that giveth answer before he heareth, it is folly and shame unto him.
روح انسان بیماری او را متحمل میشود، اما روح شکسته را کیست که متحمل آن بشود. | ۱۴ 14 |
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a broken spirit who can bear?
دل مرد فهیم معرفت را تحصیل میکند، وگوش حکیمان معرفت را میطلبد. | ۱۵ 15 |
The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
هدیه شخص، از برایش وسعت پیدامی کند و او را به حضور بزرگان میرساند. | ۱۶ 16 |
A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
هرکه در دعوی خود اول آید صادق مینماید، اما حریفش میآید و او را میآزماید. | ۱۷ 17 |
He that pleadeth his cause first [seemeth] just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him out.
قرعه نزاعها را ساکت مینماید و زورآوران را از هم جدا میکند. | ۱۸ 18 |
The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
برادر رنجیده از شهر قوی سختتر است، ومنازعت با او مثل پشت بندهای قصر است. | ۱۹ 19 |
A brother offended [is harder to be won] than a strong city: and [such] contentions are like the bars of a castle.
دل آدمی از میوه دهانش پر میشود و ازمحصول لبهایش، سیر میگردد. | ۲۰ 20 |
A man’s belly shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; with the increase of his lips shall he be satisfied.
موت و حیات در قدرت زبان است، و آنانی که آن را دوست میدارند میوهاش را خواهندخورد. | ۲۱ 21 |
Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
هرکه زوجهای یابد چیز نیکو یافته است، ورضامندی خداوند را تحصیل کرده است. | ۲۲ 22 |
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
مرد فقیر به تضرع تکلم میکند، اما شخص دولتمند به سختی جواب میدهد. | ۲۳ 23 |
The poor useth entreaties: but the rich answereth roughly.
کسیکه دوستان بسیار دارد خویشتن راهلاک میکند، اما دوستی هست که از برادرچسبنده تر میباشد. | ۲۴ 24 |
He that maketh many friends [doeth it] to his own destruction: but there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
