لوقا 2

۱ 1 و در آن ایام حکمی از اوغسطس قیصرصادر گشت که تمام ربع مسکون را اسم نویسی کنند.

About that time an edict was issued by the Emperor Augustus that a census should be taken of the whole Empire.

۲ 2 و این اسم نویسی اول شد، هنگامی که کیرینیوس والی سوریه بود.

(This was the first census taken while Quirinius was Governor of Syria).

۳ 3 پس همه مردم هر یک به شهر خود برای اسم نویسی می‌رفتند.

And everyone went to his own town to be registered.

۴ 4 و یوسف نیز از جلیل از بلده ناصره به یهودیه به شهر داود که بیت لحم نام داشت، رفت. زیرا که او از خاندان و آل داود بود.

Among others Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem, the town of David, in Judea – because he belonged to the family and house of David –

۵ 5 تا نام او بامریم که نامزد او بود و نزدیک به زاییدن بود، ثبت گردد.

to be registered with Mary, his engaged wife, who was about to become a mother.

۶ 6 و وقتی که ایشان در آنجا بودند، هنگام وضع حمل او رسیده،

While they were there her time came,

۷ 7 پسر نخستین خود رازایید. و او را در قنداقه پیچیده، در آخورخوابانید. زیرا که برای ایشان در منزل جای نبود.

and she gave birth to her first child, a son. And because there was no room for them in the inn, she swathed him round and laid him in a manger.

۸ 8 و در آن نواحی، شبانان در صحرا بسرمی بردند و در شب پاسبانی گله های خویش می‌کردند.

In that same countryside were shepherds out in the open fields, watching their flocks that night,

۹ 9 ناگاه فرشته خداوند بر ایشان ظاهرشد و کبریایی خداوند بر گرد ایشان تابید و بغایت ترسان گشتند.

when an angel of the Lord suddenly stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were seized with fear.

۱۰ 10 فرشته ایشان را گفت: «مترسید، زیرا اینک بشارت خوشی عظیم به شما می‌دهم که برای جمیع قوم خواهد بود.

‘Have no fear,’ the angel said. ‘For I bring you good news of a great joy in store for all the nation.

۱۱ 11 که امروز برای شما در شهر داود، نجات‌دهنده‌ای که مسیح خداوند باشد متولد شد.

This day there has been born to you, in the town of David, a Saviour, who is Christ and Lord.

۱۲ 12 و علامت برای شمااین است که طفلی در قنداقه پیچیده و در آخورخوابیده خواهید یافت.»

And this will be the sign for you. You will find the infant swathed, and lying in a manger.’

۱۳ 13 در همان حال فوجی از لشکر آسمانی با فرشته حاضر شده، خدا راتسبیح‌کنان می‌گفتند:

Then suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly Host, praising God, and singing –

۱۴ 14 «خدا را در اعلی علیین جلال و بر زمین سلامتی و در میان مردم رضامندی باد.»

‘glory to God on high, and on earth peace among those in whom he finds pleasure.’

۱۵ 15 و چون فرشتگان از نزد ایشان به آسمان رفتند، شبانان با یکدیگر گفتند: «الان به بیت لحم برویم و این چیزی را که واقع شده و خداوند آن را به ما اعلام نموده است ببینیم.»

Now, when the angels had left them and gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go at once to Bethlehem, and see this thing that has happened, of which the Lord has told us.’

۱۶ 16 پس به شتاب رفته، مریم و یوسف و آن طفل رادر آخور خوابیده یافتند.

So they went quickly, and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in a manger;

۱۷ 17 چون این را دیدند، آن سخنی را که درباره طفل بدیشان گفته شده بود، شهرت دادند.

and, when they saw it, they told of all that had been said to them about this child.

۱۸ 18 و هر‌که می‌شنید از آنچه شبانان بدیشان گفتند، تعجب می‌نمود.

All who heard the shepherds were astonished at their story,

۱۹ 19 امامریم در دل خود متفکر شده، این همه سخنان رانگاه می‌داشت.

while Mary treasured in her heart all that they said, and thought about it often.

۲۰ 20 و شبانان خدا را تمجید وحمدکنان برگشتند، به‌سبب همه آن اموری که دیده و شنیده بودند چنانکه به ایشان گفته شده بود.

And the shepherds went back, giving glory and praise to God for all that they had heard and seen. It had all happened as they had been told.

۲۱ 21 و چون روز هشتم، وقت ختنه طفل رسید، او را عیسی نام نهادند، چنانکه فرشته قبل از قرارگرفتن او در رحم، او را نامیده بود.

Eight days after the birth of the child, when it was time to circumcise him, he received the name Jesus – the name given him by the angel before his conception.

۲۲ 22 و چون ایام تطهیر ایشان برحسب شریعت موسی رسید، او رابه اورشلیم بردند تا به خداوند بگذرانند.

When the period of purification of mother and child, required by the Law of Moses, came to an end, his parents took the child up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,

۲۳ 23 چنانکه در شریعت خداوند مکتوب است که هر ذکوری که رحم را گشاید، مقدس خداوندخوانده شود.

in compliance with the Law of the Lord that every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord,

۲۴ 24 و تا قربانی گذرانند، چنانکه درشریعت خداوند مقرر است، یعنی جفت فاخته‌ای یا دو جوجه کبوتر.

and also to offer the sacrifice required by the Law of the Lord – a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.

۲۵ 25 و اینک شخصی شمعون نام در اورشلیم بود که مرد صالح و متقی و منتظر تسلی اسرائیل بود و روح‌القدس بر وی بود.

There was at that time in Jerusalem a man named Simeon, a righteous and devout man, who lived in constant expectation of Israel’s consulation, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

۲۶ 26 و از روح‌القدس بدو وحی رسیده بود که، تا مسیح خداوند را نبینی موت را نخواهی دید.

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not die until he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

۲۷ 27 پس به راهنمایی روح، به هیکل درآمد وچون والدینش آن طفل یعنی عیسی را آوردند تا رسوم شریعت را بجهت او بعمل آورند،

Moved by the Spirit, Simeon came into the Temple Courts, and, when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the Law,

۲۸ 28 او رادر آغوش خود کشیده و خدا را متبارک خوانده، گفت:

Simeon himself took the child in his arms, and blessed God, and said:

۲۹ 29 «الحال‌ای خداوند بنده خود را رخصت می‌دهی، به سلامتی برحسب کلام خود.

‘Now, Lord, you will let your servant go, according to your word, in peace,

۳۰ 30 زیراکه چشمان من نجات تو را دیده است،

for my eyes have seen the salvation

۳۱ 31 که آن راپیش روی جمیع امت‌ها مهیا ساختی.

which you have prepared in the sight of all nations –

۳۲ 32 نوری که کشف حجاب برای امت‌ها کند و قوم تواسرائیل را جلال بود.»

a light to bring light to the Gentiles, and to be the glory of your people Israel.’

۳۳ 33 و یوسف و مادرش ازآنچه درباره او گفته شد، تعجب نمودند.

While the child’s father and mother were wondering at what was said about him,

۳۴ 34 پس شمعون ایشان را برکت داده، به مادرش مریم گفت: «اینک این طفل قرار داده شد، برای افتادن وبرخاستن بسیاری از آل اسرائیل و برای آیتی که به خلاف آن خواهند گفت.

Simeon gave them his blessing, and said to Mary, the child’s mother, ‘This child is appointed to be the cause of the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign much spoken against –

۳۵ 35 و در قلب تو نیزشمشیری فرو خواهد رفت، تا افکار قلوب بسیاری مکشوف شود.»

Yes, the sword will pierce your own heart – and so the thoughts in many minds will be disclosed.’

۳۶ 36 و زنی نبیه بود، حنا نام، دختر فنوئیل ازسبط اشیر بسیار سالخورده، که از زمان بکارت هفت سال با شوهر بسر برده بود.

There was also a prophet named Hannah, a daughter of Phanuel and of the tribe of Asher. She was far advanced in years, having lived with her husband for seven years after marriage,

۳۷ 37 و قریب به هشتاد و چهار سال بود که او بیوه گشته ازهیکل جدا نمی شد، بلکه شبانه‌روز به روزه ومناجات در عبادت مشغول می‌بود.

and then a widow, until she had reached the age of eighty-four. She never left the Temple Courts, but, fasting and praying, worshiped God night and day.

۳۸ 38 او درهمان ساعت در‌آمده، خدا را شکر نمود ودرباره او به همه منتظرین نجات در اورشلیم، تکلم نمود.

At that moment she came up, and began publicly to thank God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the deliverance of Jerusalem.

۳۹ 39 و چون تمامی رسوم شریعت خداوند را به پایان برده بودند، به شهر خود ناصره جلیل مراجعت کردند.

When the child’s parents had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.

۴۰ 40 و طفل نمو کرده، به روح قوی می‌گشت و از حکمت پر شده، فیض خدا بروی می‌بود.

The child grew and became strong and wise, and the blessing of God was on him.

۴۱ 41 و والدین او هر ساله بجهت عید فصح، به اورشلیم می‌رفتند.

Every year the child’s parents used to go to Jerusalem at the Passover Festival.

۴۲ 42 و چون دوازده ساله شد، موافق رسم عید، به اورشلیم آمدند.

When Jesus was twelve years old, they went according to custom to Jerusalem,

۴۳ 43 وچون روزها را تمام کرده مراجعت می‌نمودند، آن طفل یعنی عیسی، در اورشلیم توقف نمودو یوسف و مادرش نمی دانستند.

and had finished their visit; but, when they started to return, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, without their knowing it.

۴۴ 44 بلکه چون گمان می‌بردند که او در قافله است، سفریکروزه کردند و او را در میان خویشان وآشنایان خود می‌جستند.

Thinking that he was with their fellow travellers, they went one day’s journey before searching for him among their relatives and acquaintances;

۴۵ 45 و چون او را نیافتند، در طلب او به اورشلیم برگشتند.

and then, as they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching everywhere for him.

۴۶ 46 و بعد ازسه روز، او را در هیکل یافتند که در میان معلمان نشسته، سخنان ایشان را می‌شنود و ازایشان سوال همی کرد.

It was not until the third day that they found him in the Temple Courts, sitting among the teachers, now listening to them, now asking them questions.

۴۷ 47 و هر‌که سخن او رامی شنید، از فهم و جوابهای او متحیرمی گشت.

All who listened to him marvelled at his intelligence and his answers.

۴۸ 48 چون ایشان او را دیدند، مضطرب شدند. پس مادرش به وی گفت: «ای فرزند چرا با ماچنین کردی؟ اینک پدرت و من غمناک گشته تو را جستجو می‌کردیم.»

His parents were amazed when they saw him, and his mother said to him, ‘My child, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.’

۴۹ 49 او به ایشان گفت: «از بهر‌چه مرا طلب می‌کردید، مگرندانسته‌اید که باید من در امور پدر خود باشم؟»

‘What made you search for me?’ he answered. ‘Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?’

۵۰ 50 ولی آن سخنی را که بدیشان گفت، نفهمیدند.

His parents did not understand what he meant.

۵۱ 51 پس با ایشان روانه شده، به ناصره آمد و مطیع ایشان می‌بود و مادر او تمامی این امور را درخاطر خود نگاه می‌داشت.

However he went down with them to Nazareth, and submitted himself to their control; and his mother treasured all that was said in her heart.

۵۲ 52 و عیسی درحکمت و قامت و رضامندی نزد خدا و مردم ترقی می‌کرد.

And Jesus grew in wisdom as he grew in years, and gained the blessing of God and people.
