یوحنا 4

۱ 1 و چون خداوند دانست که فریسیان مطلع شده‌اند که عیسی بیشتر از یحیی شاگردپیدا کرده، تعمید می‌دهد،

Now, when the Master heard that the Pharisees had been told that he was making and baptizing more disciples than John

۲ 2 با اینکه خود عیسی تعمید نمی داد بلکه شاگردانش،

(Though it was not Jesus himself, but his disciples, who baptized),

۳ 3 یهودیه راگذارده، باز به‌جانب جلیل رفت.

he left Judea, and set out again for Galilee.

۴ 4 و لازم بود که از سامره عبور کند

He had to pass through Samaria,

۵ 5 پس به شهری از سامره که سوخار نام داشت، نزدیک به آن موضعی که یعقوب به پسر خود یوسف داده بود رسید.

and, on his way, he came to a Samaritan town called Shechem, near the plot of land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

۶ 6 و در آنجا چاه یعقوب بود. پس عیسی از سفر خسته شده، همچنین بر سر چاه نشسته بود و قریب به ساعت ششم بود.

Jacob’s Spring was there, and Jesus, being tired after his journey, sat down beside the spring, just as he was. It was then about midday.

۷ 7 که زنی سامری بجهت آب کشیدن آمد. عیسی بدو گفت: «جرعه‌ای آب به من بنوشان.»

A woman of Samaria came to draw water; and Jesus said to her – ‘Give me some to drink,’

۸ 8 زیرا شاگردانش بجهت خریدن خوراک به شهر رفته بودند.

For his disciples had gone into the town to buy food.

۹ 9 زن سامری بدو گفت: «چگونه تو که یهود هستی ازمن آب می‌خواهی و حال آنکه زن سامری می‌باشم؟» زیرا که یهود با سامریان معاشرت ندارند.

‘How is it,’ replied the Samaritan woman, ‘that you who are a Jew ask for water from a Samaritan woman like me?’ (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans).

۱۰ 10 عیسی در جواب او گفت: «اگر بخشش خدا را می‌دانستی و کیست که به تو می‌گوید آب به من بده، هرآینه تو از او خواهش می‌کردی و به تو آب زنده عطا می‌کرد.

‘If you knew of the gift of God,’ replied Jesus, ‘and who it is that is saying to you “Give me some water,” you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.’

۱۱ 11 زن بدو گفت: «ای آقادلو نداری و چاه عمیق است. پس از کجا آب زنده داری؟

‘You have no bucket, Sir, and the well is deep,’ she said. ‘Where did you get that “living water?”

۱۲ 12 آیا تو از پدر ما یعقوب بزرگترهستی که چاه را به ما داد و خود و پسران و مواشی او از آن می‌آشامیدند؟»

Surely you are not greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us the well, and used to drink from it himself, and his sons, and his cattle!’

۱۳ 13 عیسی در جواب اوگفت: «هر‌که از این آب بنوشد باز تشنه گردد،

‘All who drink of this water,’ replied Jesus, ‘will be thirsty again;

۱۴ 14 لیکن کسی‌که از آبی که من به او می‌دهم بنوشد، ابد تشنه نخواهد شد، بلکه آن آبی که به او می‌دهم در او چشمه آبی گردد که تا حیات جاودانی می‌جوشد.» (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)

but whoever once drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst any more; but the water that I will give him will become a spring welling up within him – a source of eternal life.’ (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)

۱۵ 15 زن بدو گفت: «ای آقا آن آب را به من بده تا دیگر تشنه نگردم و به اینجابجهت آب کشیدن نیایم.»

‘Give me this water, Sir,’ said the woman, ‘so that I may not be thirsty, nor have to come all the way here to draw water.’

۱۶ 16 عیسی به او گفت: «برو و شوهر خود رابخوان و در اینجا بیا.»

‘Go and call your husband,’ said Jesus, ‘and then come back.’

۱۷ 17 زن در جواب گفت: «شوهر ندارم.» عیسی بدو گفت: «نیکو گفتی که شوهر نداری!

‘I have no husband,’ answered the woman. ‘You are right in saying “I have no husband,”’ replied Jesus,

۱۸ 18 زیرا که پنج شوهر داشتی وآنکه الان داری شوهر تو نیست! این سخن راراست گفتی!»

‘For you have had five husbands, and the man with whom you are now living is not your husband; in saying that, you have spoken the truth.’

۱۹ 19 زن بدو گفت: «ای آقا می‌بینم که تو نبی هستی!

‘I see, Sir, that you are a prophet!’ exclaimed the woman.

۲۰ 20 پدران ما در این کوه پرستش می‌کردند و شما می‌گویید که در اورشلیم جایی است که در آن عبادت باید نمود.»

‘It was on this mountain that our ancestors worshiped; and yet you Jews say that the proper place for worship is in Jerusalem.’

۲۱ 21 عیسی بدوگفت: «ای زن مرا تصدیق کن که ساعتی می‌آید که نه در این کوه و نه در اورشلیم پدر را پرستش خواهید کرد.

‘Believe me,’ replied Jesus, ‘a time is coming when it will be neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem that you will worship the Father.

۲۲ 22 شما آنچه را که نمی دانیدمی پرستید اما ما آنچه را که می‌دانیم عبادت می‌کنیم زیرا نجات از یهود است.

You Samaritans do not know what you worship; we know what we worship, for salvation comes from the Jews.

۲۳ 23 لیکن ساعتی می‌آید بلکه الان است که در آن پرستندگان حقیقی پدر را به روح و راستی پرستش خواهندکرد زیرا که پدر مثل این پرستندگان خود را طالب است.

But a time is coming, indeed it is already here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father spiritually and truly; for such are the worshipers that the Father desires.

۲۴ 24 خدا روح است و هر‌که او را پرستش کند می‌باید به روح و راستی بپرستد.»

God is Spirit; and those who worship him must worship spiritually and truly.’

۲۵ 25 زن بدو گفت: «می‌دانم که مسیح یعنی کرستس می‌آید. پس هنگامی که او آید از هر چیزبه ما خبر‌خواهد داد.»

‘I know,’ answered the woman, ‘that the Messiah, who is called the Christ, is coming; when once he has come, he will tell us everything.’

۲۶ 26 عیسی بدو گفت: «من که با تو سخن می‌گویم همانم.»

‘I am he,’ Jesus said to her, ‘I who am speaking to you.’

۲۷ 27 و در همان وقت شاگردانش آمده، تعجب کردند که با زنی سخن می‌گوید و لکن هیچ‌کس نگفت که چه می‌طلبی یا برای چه با او حرف می‌زنی.

At this moment his disciples came up, and were surprised to find him talking with a woman; but none of them asked “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

۲۸ 28 آنگاه زن سبوی خود را گذارده، به شهر رفت و مردم را گفت:

So the woman, leaving her pitcher, went back to the town, and said to the people,

۲۹ 29 «بیایید و کسی راببینید که هرآنچه کرده بودم به من گفت. آیا این مسیح نیست؟»

‘Come and see someone who has told me everything that I have done. Can he be the Christ?’

۳۰ 30 پس از شهر بیرون شده، نزد اومی آمدند.

And the people left the town and went to see Jesus.

۳۱ 31 و در اثنا آن شاگردان او خواهش نموده، گفتند: «ای استاد بخور.»

Meanwhile the disciples kept saying to him, ‘Take something to eat, Rabbi.’

۳۲ 32 بدیشان گفت: «من غذایی دارم که بخورم و شما آن را نمی دانید.»

‘I have food to eat,’ he answered, ‘of which you know nothing.’

۳۳ 33 شاگردان به یکدیگر گفتند: «مگر کسی برای اوخوراکی آورده باشد!»

‘Can anyone have brought him anything to eat?’ the disciples said to one another.

۳۴ 34 عیسی بدیشان گفت: «خوراک من آن است که خواهش فرستنده خودرا به عمل آورم و کار او را به انجام رسانم.

‘My food,’ replied Jesus, ‘is to do the will of him who sent me, and to complete his work.

۳۵ 35 آیاشما نمی گویید که چهار ماه دیگر موسم درواست؟ اینک به شما می‌گویم چشمان خود را بالاافکنید و مزرعه‌ها را ببینید زیرا که الان بجهت درو سفید شده است.

Don’t you say that it still wants four months to harvest? Why, look up, and see how white the fields are for harvest!

۳۶ 36 و دروگر اجرت می‌گیردو ثمری بجهت حیات جاودانی جمع می‌کند تاکارنده و درو‌کننده هر دو با هم خشنود گردند. (aiōnios g166)

Already the reaper is receiving wages and gathering in sheaves for eternal life, so that sower and reaper rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)

۳۷ 37 زیرا این کلام در اینجا راست است که یکی می‌کارد و دیگری درو می‌کند.

For here the proverb holds good – “One sows, another reaps.”

۳۸ 38 من شما رافرستادم تا چیزی را که در آن رنج نبرده‌اید دروکنید. دیگران محنت کشیدند و شما در محنت ایشان داخل شده‌اید.»

I have sent you to reap that on which you have spent no labour; others have laboured, and you have reaped the results of their labour.’

۳۹ 39 پس در آن شهر بسیاری از سامریان بواسطه سخن آن زن که شهادت داد که هر‌آنچه کرده بودم به من باز‌گفت بدو ایمان آوردند.

Many from that town came to believe in Jesus – Samaritans though they were – because the woman had said, “He has told me everything that I have done.”

۴۰ 40 و چون سامریان نزد او آمدند، از او خواهش کردند که نزدایشان بماند و دو روز در آنجا بماند.

And, when these Samaritans had come to Jesus, they begged him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.

۴۱ 41 و بسیاری دیگر بواسطه کلام او ایمان آوردند.

But far more came to believe in him because of what he said himself,

۴۲ 42 و به زن گفتند که «بعد از این بواسطه سخن تو ایمان نمی آوریم زیرا خود شنیده و دانسته‌ایم که او درحقیقت مسیح و نجات‌دهنده عالم است.»

and they said to the woman, ‘It is no longer because of what you say that we believe in him, for we have heard him ourselves and know that he really is the Saviour of the world.’

۴۳ 43 اما بعد از دو روز از آنجا بیرون آمده، به سوی جلیل روانه شد.

After these two days Jesus went on to Galilee;

۴۴ 44 زیرا خود عیسی شهادت داد که هیچ نبی را در وطن خود حرمت نیست.

for he himself declared that “a prophet is not honoured in his own country.”

۴۵ 45 پس چون به جلیل آمد، جلیلیان او راپذیرفتند زیرا هر‌چه در اورشلیم در عید کرده بود، دیدند، چونکه ایشان نیز در عید رفته بودند.

When he entered Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, for they had seen all that he did at Jerusalem during the Festival, at which they also had been present.

۴۶ 46 پس عیسی به قانای جلیل آنجایی که آب را شراب ساخته بود، بازآمد. و یکی از سرهنگان ملک بود که پسر او در کفرناحوم مریض بود.

So Jesus came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. Now there was one of the king’s officers whose son was lying ill at Capernaum.

۴۷ 47 وچون شنید که عیسی از یهودیه به جلیل آمده است، نزد او آمده، خواهش کرد که فرود بیاید وپسر او را شفا دهد، زیرا که مشرف به موت بود.

When this man heard that Jesus had returned from Judea to Galilee, he went to him, and begged him to come down and cure his son; for he was at the point of death.

۴۸ 48 عیسی بدو گفت: «اگر آیات و معجزات نبینید، همانا ایمان نیاورید.»

Jesus answered, ‘Unless you all see signs and wonders, you will not believe.’

۴۹ 49 سرهنگ بدو گفت: «ای آقا قبل از آنکه پسرم بمیرد فرود بیا.»

‘Sir,’ said the officer, ‘come down before my child dies.’ And Jesus answered, ‘Go, your son is living.’

۵۰ 50 عیسی بدو گفت: «برو که پسرت زنده است.» آن شخص به سخنی که عیسی بدو گفت، ایمان آورده، روانه شد.

The man believed what Jesus said to him, and went;

۵۱ 51 و در وقتی که او می‌رفت، غلامانش او راستقبال نموده، مژده دادند و گفتند که پسر توزنده است.

and, while he was on his way down, his servants met him, and told him that his child was living.

۵۲ 52 پس از ایشان پرسید که در چه ساعت عافیت یافت. گفتند: «دیروز، در ساعت هفتم تب از او زایل گشت.»

So he asked them at what time the boy began to get better. ‘It was yesterday, about one o’clock,’ they said, ‘that the fever left him.’

۵۳ 53 آنگاه پدر فهمیدکه در همان ساعت عیسی گفته بود: «پسر تو زنده است.» پس او و تمام اهل خانه او ایمان آوردند.

By this the father knew that it was at the very time when Jesus had said to him “Your son is living”; and he himself, with all his household, believed in Jesus.

۵۴ 54 و این نیز معجزه دوم بود که از عیسی در وقتی که از یهودیه به جلیل آمد، به ظهور رسید.

This was the second occasion on which Jesus gave a sign of his mission on coming from Judea to Galilee.
