Salmi 76

1 Per il Capo de’ Musici. Per strumenti a corda. Salmo di Asaf. Canto. Iddio è conosciuto in Giuda; il suo nome è grande in Israele.

[For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm by Asaph. A song.] In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel.

2 Il suo tabernacolo e in Salem, e la sua dimora in Sion.

And his abode is in Salem, and his lair in Zion.

3 Quivi ha spezzato le saette dell’arco, lo scudo, la spada e gli arnesi di guerra. (Sela)

There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. (Selah)

4 Tremendo sei tu, o Potente, quando ritorni dalle montagne di preda.

Glorious are you, and excellent, more than mountains of game.

5 Gli animosi sono stati spogliati, han dormito il loro ultimo sonno, e tutti gli uomini prodi sono stati ridotti all’impotenza.

Valiant men lie plundered, they have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.

6 Alla tua minaccia, o Dio di Giacobbe, carri e cavalli sono stati presi da torpore.

At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.

7 Tu, tu sei tremendo; e chi può reggere davanti a te quando t’adiri?

You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?

8 Dal cielo facesti udir la tua sentenza; la terra temette e tacque,

You pronounced judgment from heaven. The earth feared, and was silent,

9 quando Iddio si levò per far giudicio, per salvare tutti gl’infelici della terra. (Sela)

when God arose to judgment, to save all the afflicted ones of the earth. (Selah)

10 Certo, il furore degli uomini ridonderà alla tua lode; ti cingerai degli ultimi avanzi dei loro furori.

Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.

11 Fate voti all’Eterno, all’Iddio vostro, e adempiteli; tutti quelli che gli stanno attorno portin doni al Tremendo.

Make vows to Jehovah your God, and fulfill them. Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.

12 Egli recide lo spirito dei principi, egli è tremendo ai re della terra.

He humbles the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth.
