Psalm 77

1 Dem Musikmeister, nach Jeduthun. Von Asaph. Ein Psalm. Meine Stimme erhebe sich zu Gott, und ich will schreien, meine Stimme erhebe sich zu Gott, daß er auf mich höre.

For the Leader; for Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I will lift up my voice unto God, and cry; I will lift up my voice unto God, that He may give ear unto me.

2 In der Zeit meiner Not suche ich den Herrn: meine Hand ist des nachts ausgestreckt und ermattet nicht; meine Seele will sich nicht trösten lassen.

In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; with my hand uplifted, mine eye streameth in the night without ceasing; my soul refuseth to be comforted.

3 Ich gedenke an Gott und seufze; ich sinne nach, und es verzagt mein Geist. (Sela)

When I think thereon, O God, I must moan; when I muse thereon, my spirit fainteth. (Selah)

4 Du hältst meine Augenlider wach; ich bin voller Unruhe und kann nicht reden.

Thou holdest fast the lids of mine eyes; I am troubled, and cannot speak.

5 Ich überdenke die Tage der Vorzeit, die längst entschwundenen Jahre.

I have pondered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

6 Ich gedenke in der Nacht meines Saitenspiels, sinne in meinem Herzen, und es forscht mein Geist:

In the night I will call to remembrance my song; I will commune with mine own heart; and my spirit maketh diligent search:

7 Will denn der Herr auf ewig verstoßen und keine Gnade mehr erzeigen?

'Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will He be favourable no more?

8 Ist's denn für immer mit seiner Gnade zu Ende, gar aus mit seiner Treue auf alle Geschlechter?

Is His mercy clean gone for ever? Is His promise come to an end for evermore?

9 Hat denn Gott vergessen, gnädig zu sein, oder im Zorn sein Erbarmen verschlossen? (Sela)

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Hath He in anger shut up his compassions?' (Selah)

10 Und ich sprach: Das ist mein Leiden, daß die Rechte des Höchsten sich geändert hat.

And I say: 'This is my weakness, that the right hand of the Most High could change.

11 Ich gedenke der Thaten Jah's; ja, ich gedenke deines wunderbaren Thuns in der Vorzeit.

I will make mention of the deeds of the LORD; yea, I will remember Thy wonders of old.

12 Ich will nachdenken über all' dein Thun und über deine großen Thaten sinnen.

I will meditate also upon all Thy work, and muse on Thy doings.'

13 Gott, erhaben ist dein Weg! Wer ist ein großer Gott wie Gott?

O God, Thy way is in holiness; who is a great god like unto God?

14 Du bist der rechte Gott, thust Wunder; du hast unter den Völkern deine Macht kund werden lassen.

Thou art the God that doest wonders; Thou hast made known Thy strength among the peoples.

15 Mit mächtigem Arm hast du dein Volk erlöst, die Söhne Jakobs und Josephs. (Sela)

Thou hast with Thine arm redeemed Thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. (Selah)

16 Da dich die Wasser sahen, Gott, da dich die Wasser sahen, bebten sie, und es zitterten die Fluten.

The waters saw Thee, O God; the waters saw Thee, they were in pain; the depths also trembled.

17 In den Strömen ergoß sich das dichte Gewölk; die Wolken donnerten, und es fuhren einher deine Pfeile.

The clouds flooded forth waters; the skies sent out a sound; Thine arrows also went abroad.

18 Dein Donner erschallte im Wirbelwind; Blitze erleuchteten den Erdkreis, es zitterte und erbebte die Erde.

The voice of Thy thunder was in the whirlwind; the lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.

19 Durchs Meer ging dein Weg, und dein Pfad durch große Wasser, und deine Spuren waren nicht zu erkennen.

Thy way was in the sea, and Thy path in the great waters, and Thy footsteps were not known.

20 Du führtest dein Volk wie Schafe durch Mose und Aaron.

Thou didst lead Thy people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
