Hebraeer 3
1 Nun denn, heilige Brüder, Gefährten himmlischer Berufung, betrachtet unverwandt den Gesandten und Hohenpriester Jesus, zu dem wir uns bekennen,
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly vocation, consider the apostle and high priest of our confession, Jesus:
2 der dem treu war, der ihn bestellte, ähnlich, wie in seinem ganzen Hause Moses.
Who is faithful to him that made him, as was also Moses in all his house.
3 Ist er doch größerer Herrlichkeit gewürdigt worden als Moses, wie der Baumeister größeren Ruhm hat als das Haus.
For this man was counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by so much as he that hath built the house, hath greater honour than the house.
4 Jedes Haus hat seinen Baumeister; der Weltenbaumeister jedoch ist Gott.
For every house is built by some man: but he that created all things, is God.
5 Auch Moses, der in seinem ganzen Leben treu gedient hat, tat dies als Diener, zum Zeugnis für die Offenbarung, die erst noch kommen sollte.
And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be said:
6 Doch Christus steht als Sohn über seinem Hause. Dieses Haus sind wir, wenn wir die gläubige Zuversicht und das ruhmvolle Hoffen bis ans Ende treu bewahren.
But Christ as the Son in his own house: which house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and glory of hope unto the end.
7 Darum gilt, was der Heilige Geist gesprochen hat: "Heute, wenn ihr seine Stimme höret,
Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost saith: Today if you shall hear his voice,
8 verhärtet eure Herzen nicht wie bei der Erbitterung am Tage der Versuchung in der Wüste,
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation; in the day of temptation in the desert,
9 wo eure Väter mich mit Zweifel auf die Probe stellten, obwohl sie meine Taten vierzig Jahre lang sahen.
Where your fathers tempted me, proved and saw my works,
10 So überkam mich ein heiliger Zorn über dieses Geschlecht; ich sprach: 'Beständig mögen sie in ihrem Herzen irren.' Doch sie verstanden meine Wege nicht.
Forty years: for which cause I was offended with this generation, and I said: They always err in heart. And they have not known my ways,
11 So schwur ich denn in meinem Zorne: 'Sie sollen nicht in meine Ruhe eingehen.'"
As I have sworn in my wrath: If they shall enter into my rest.
12 Seht zu, o meine Brüder, daß nicht in irgendeinem unter euch ein böses und ungläubiges Herz sich finde, daß es zum Abfall käme vom lebendigen Gott.
Take heed, brethren, lest perhaps there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, to depart from the living God.
13 Sprecht vielmehr Tag für Tag einander zu, solange das "Heute" noch gilt, daß keiner unter euch verhärtet werde durch den Trug der Sünde.
But exhort one another every day, whilst it is called today, that none of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 Wir sind Gefährten Christi, wenn wir nur den ersten Glauben bis zum Ende treu bewahren.
For we are made partakers of Christ: yet so, if we hold the beginning of his substance firm unto the end.
15 Wenn es heißt: "Heute, wenn ihr seine Stimme höret, verhärtet eure Herzen nicht wie bei der Erbitterung",
While it is said, Today if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in that provocation.
16 wer waren denn die Hörer, die so erbittert waren?
For some who heard did provoke: but not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 Wem zürnte er denn vierzig Jahre lang? Waren es nicht jene, die gesündigt hatten und deren Leichen in der Wüste liegen blieben?
And with whom was he offended forty years? Was it not with them that sinned, whose carcasses were overthrown in the desert?
18 Wem hat er denn geschworen, daß sie nicht in seine Ruhe eingehen sollten? Wenn nicht denen, die ungehorsam waren?
And to whom did he swear, that they should not enter into his rest: but to them that were incredulous?
19 Und in der Tat, wir sehen, daß sie wegen dieses Unglaubens nicht eingehen konnten.
And we see that they could not enter in, because of unbelief.
