Psaumes 22

1 Au maître chantre. Sur « Biche de l'aurore ». Cantique de David. Mon Dieu! mon Dieu! pourquoi m'as-tu abandonné, te tenant à l'écart pour ne point m'être en aide, et ne point ouïr quand je crie à rugir?

To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [why art thou so] far from helping me, [and from] the words of my roaring?

2 Mon Dieu! le jour, j'appelle, et tu ne réponds pas; et la nuit, et je n'obtiens pas de repos.

O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

3 Cependant, tu es le Saint, les louanges d'Israël environnent ton trône,

But thou [art] holy, [O thou] that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

4 En toi nos pères mirent leur confiance, mirent leur confiance, et tu les délivras;

Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

5 ils élevèrent leurs cris vers toi, et ils échappèrent; ils se confièrent en toi, et ne furent point confondus.

They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

6 Mais moi, je suis un ver, et non plus un homme, l'opprobre des hommes, et le rebut du peuple.

But I [am] a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

7 Je suis la dérision de tous ceux qui me voient; ils grimacent de leurs lèvres, et hochent la tête, [disant: ]

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, [saying],

8 « Il s'en remet à l'Éternel; qu'il le sauve! qu'il le délivre, puisqu'il lui est propice! »

He trusted on the LORD [that] he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

9 Oui, tu m'as tiré du sein de ma mère, tu me donnais la sécurité auprès de sa mamelle;

But thou [art] he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope [when I was] upon my mother’s breasts.

10 je me reposai sur toi dès ma naissance, et dès le sein de ma mère tu as été mon Dieu.

I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou [art] my God from my mother’s belly.

11 Ne sois pas loin de moi! car l'angoisse est proche, car je suis sans secours.

Be not far from me; for trouble [is] near; for [there is] none to help.

12 Des taureaux puissants m'environnent, les farouches troupeaux de Basan me cernent,

Many bulls have compassed me: strong [bulls] of Bashan have beset me round.

13 ils ouvrent leurs gueules contre moi, ainsi que des lions dévorants, rugissants.

They gaped upon me [with] their mouths, [as] a ravening and a roaring lion.

14 Comme les eaux je m'écoule, et tous mes os se séparent; mon cœur, comme de la cire, fond dans ma poitrine;

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

15 ma vigueur, comme un têt, s'est séchée, et ma langue s'attache à mon palais, et tu me couches dans la poussière de la mort.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

16 Car des chiens m'environnent, la bande des méchants m'enveloppe, [s'acharne] comme le lion, à mes mains et à mes pieds.

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

17 Je compterais tous mes os; et eux, ils regardent et repaissent leurs yeux.

I may tell all my bones: they look [and] stare upon me.

18 Ils se partagent mes vêtements, et ils tirent au sort mon manteau.

They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

19 Mais, toi, Éternel, ne t'éloigne pas! toi, qui es ma force, accours à mon aide!

But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

20 Arrache à l'épée mon âme, et aux chiens l'unique bien qui me reste!

Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

21 Tire-moi de la gueule du lion, et contre les cornes des buffles garantis-moi.

Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

22 Alors je redirai ton nom à mes frères, et je te louerai au sein de l'assemblée.

I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

23 Vous qui craignez l'Éternel, louez-le! Vous tous, race de Jacob, glorifiez-le, et tremblez devant lui, vous tous, race d'Israël!

Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

24 Car Il ne rebuta point, ne dédaigna point la misère du misérable, et Il ne lui cacha point sa face, et Il écouta les cris qu'il élevait vers Lui.

For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

25 Tu seras chanté par moi dans la grande assemblée; j'accomplirai mes vœux devant ceux qui te craignent.

My praise [shall be] of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

26 Les affligés prendront part au festin, et seront rassasiés, et ceux qui cherchent l'Éternel, chanteront ses louanges; votre cœur vivra éternellement.

The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

27 Se rappelant ta mémoire, toutes les extrémités de la terre reviendront à toi, et toutes les tribus des peuples te rendront leur hommage;

All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

28 car à l'Éternel est l'empire, et Il est le souverain des nations.

For the kingdom [is] the LORD’s: and he [is] the governor among the nations.

29 Tous les riches de la terre prendront part au festin, et adoreront, et l'on verra s'agenouiller tous ceux qui sont sur la pente du tombeau, et ceux qui ne peuvent soutenir leur vie.

All [they that be] fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

30 La race future Le servira, et l'on parlera du Seigneur d'âge en âge;

A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

31 il en viendra qui publieront sa justice, et raconteront à la race naissante qu'il fut agissant.

They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done [this].
