Genèse 6

1 Et il arriva, quand les hommes commencèrent à se multiplier sur la face de la terre et que des filles leur furent nées,

And Noe was five hundred years old, and he begot three sons, Sem, Cham, and Japheth. And it came to pass when men began to be numerous upon the earth, and daughters were born to them,

2 que les fils de Dieu virent les filles des hommes, qu’elles étaient belles, et ils se prirent des femmes d’entre toutes celles qu’ils choisirent.

that the sons of God having seen the daughters of men that they were beautiful, took to themselves wives of all whom they chose.

3 Et l’Éternel dit: Mon Esprit ne contestera pas à toujours avec l’homme, puisque lui n’est que chair; mais ses jours seront 120 ans.

And the Lord God said, My Spirit shall certainly not remain among these men for ever, because they are flesh, but their days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 Les géants étaient sur la terre en ces jours-là, et aussi après que les fils de Dieu furent venus vers les filles des hommes et qu’elles leur eurent donné des enfants: ceux-ci furent les vaillants hommes de jadis, des hommes de renom.

Now the giants were upon the earth in those days; and after that when the sons of God were wont to go in to the daughters of men, they bore [children] to them, those were the giants of old, the men of renown.

5 Et l’Éternel vit que la méchanceté de l’homme était grande sur la terre, et que toute l’imagination des pensées de son cœur n’était que méchanceté en tout temps.

And the Lord God, having seen that the wicked actions of men were multiplied upon the earth, and that every one in his heart was intently brooding over evil continually,

6 Et l’Éternel se repentit d’avoir fait l’homme sur la terre, et il s’en affligea dans son cœur.

then God laid it to heart that he had made man upon the earth, and he pondered [it] deeply.

7 Et l’Éternel dit: J’exterminerai de dessus la face de la terre l’homme que j’ai créé, depuis l’homme jusqu’au bétail, jusqu’aux reptiles, et jusqu’aux oiseaux des cieux, car je me repens de les avoir faits.

And God said, I will blot out man whom I have made from the face of the earth, even man with cattle, and reptiles with flying creatures of the sky, for I am grieved that I have made them.

8 Mais Noé trouva grâce aux yeux de l’Éternel.

But Noe found grace before the Lord God.

9 Ce sont ici les générations de Noé: Noé était un homme juste; il était parfait parmi ceux de son temps; Noé marchait avec Dieu.

And these [are] the generations of Noe. Noe was a just man; being perfect in his generation, Noe was well-pleasing to God.

10 Et Noé engendra trois fils: Sem, Cham, et Japheth.

And Noe begot three sons, Sem, Cham, Japheth.

11 Et la terre était corrompue devant Dieu, et la terre était pleine de violence.

But the earth was corrupted before God, and the earth was filled with iniquity.

12 Et Dieu regarda la terre, et voici, elle était corrompue, car toute chair avait corrompu sa voie sur la terre.

And the Lord God saw the earth, and it was corrupted; because all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth.

13 Et Dieu dit à Noé: La fin de toute chair est venue devant moi, car la terre est pleine de violence à cause d’eux; et voici, je vais les détruire avec la terre.

And the Lord God said to Noe, A period of all men is come before me; because the earth has been filled with iniquity by them, and, behold, I destroy them and the earth.

14 Fais-toi une arche de bois de gopher. Tu feras l’arche avec des loges, et tu l’enduiras de poix en dedans et en dehors.

Make therefore for thyself an ark of square timber; thou shalt make the ark in compartments, and thou shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15 Et c’est ainsi que tu la feras: la longueur de l’arche sera de 300 coudées, sa largeur de 50 coudées, et sa hauteur de 30 coudées.

And thus shalt thou make the ark; three hundred cubits the length of the ark, and fifty cubits the breadth, and thirty cubits the height of it.

16 Tu feras un jour à l’arche, et tu l’achèveras en [lui donnant] une coudée d’en haut; et tu placeras la porte de l’arche sur son côté; tu y feras un étage inférieur, un second, et un troisième.

Thou shalt narrow the ark in making it, and in a cubit above thou shalt finish it, and the door of the ark thou shalt make on the side; with lower, second, and third stories thou shalt make it.

17 Et moi, voici, je fais venir le déluge d’eaux sur la terre, pour détruire de dessous les cieux toute chair en laquelle il y a esprit de vie; tout ce qui est sur la terre expirera.

And behold I bring a flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven, and whatsoever things are upon the earth shall die.

18 Et j’établis mon alliance avec toi, et tu entreras dans l’arche, toi, et tes fils et ta femme et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.

And I will establish my covenant with thee, and thou shalt enter into the ark, and thy sons and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

19 Et de tout ce qui vit, de toute chair, tu feras entrer dans l’arche deux de chaque [espèce], pour les conserver en vie avec toi; ce seront le mâle et la femelle.

And of all cattle and of all reptiles and of all wild beasts, even of all flesh, thou shalt bring by pairs of all, into the ark, that thou mayest feed them with thyself: male and female they shall be.

20 Des oiseaux selon leur espèce, et du bétail selon son espèce, de tout reptile du sol selon son espèce, deux de chaque [espèce] entreront vers toi, pour [les] conserver en vie.

Of all winged birds after their kind, and of all cattle after their kind, and of all reptiles creeping upon the earth after their kind, pairs of all shall come in to thee, male and female to be fed with thee.

21 Et toi, prends de tout aliment qui se mange, et tu en feras provision près de toi; et cela vous sera pour nourriture, à toi et à eux.

And thou shalt take to thyself of all kinds of food which ye eat, and thou shalt gather them to thyself, and it shall be for thee and them to eat.

22 – Et Noé le fit; selon tout ce que Dieu lui avait commandé, ainsi il fit.

And Noe did all things whatever the Lord God commanded him, so did he.
