Matthew 9
1 And having gone to the boat, he passed over, and came to his own city,
Et étant monté dans une barque, il passa sur l'autre rive, et il vint dans sa propre ville.
2 and lo, they were bringing to him a paralytic, laid upon a couch, and Jesus having seen their faith, said to the paralytic, 'Be of good courage, child, thy sins have been forgiven thee.'
Et voici, on lui amenait un paralytique couché sur un lit, et Jésus ayant vu leur foi dit au paralytique: « Courage! mon enfant, tes péchés sont pardonnes. »
3 And lo, certain of the scribes said within themselves, 'This one doth speak evil.'
Et voici, quelques-uns des scribes dirent en eux-mêmes: « Cet homme blasphème. »
4 And Jesus, having known their thoughts, said, 'Why think ye evil in your hearts?
Et Jésus connaissant leurs pensées dit: « Pourquoi avez-vous de mauvaises pensées dans vos cœurs?
5 for which is easier? to say, The sins have been forgiven to thee; or to say, Rise, and walk?
Car lequel est le plus facile, de dire: Tes péchés sont pardonnés; ou de dire: Lève-toi et marche?
6 'But, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon the earth to forgive sins — (then saith he to the paralytic) — having risen, take up thy couch, and go to thy house.'
Or, pour que vous sachiez que le fils de l'homme a sur la terre l'autorité de pardonner les péchés…. Lève-toi, » dit-il alors au paralytique, « prends ton lit et va-t-en dans ta maison. »
7 And he, having risen, went to his house,
Et s'étant levé, il s'en alla dans sa maison;
8 and the multitudes having seen, wondered, and glorified God, who did give such power to men.
ce que la foule ayant vu elle fut effrayée, et elle glorifia Dieu qui avait donné une telle autorité aux hommes.
9 And Jesus passing by thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, named Matthew, and saith to him, 'Be following me,' and he, having risen, did follow him.
Et s'éloignant de là Jésus vit un homme assis au bureau des péages, appelé Matthieu, et il lui dit: « Suis-moi! » Et s'étant levé il le suivit.
10 And it came to pass, he reclining (at meat) in the house, that lo, many tax-gatherers and sinners having come, were lying (at meat) with Jesus and his disciples,
Et il advint, comme il était à table dans la maison, que, voici, beaucoup de publicains et de pécheurs survinrent, qui s'attablaient avec Jésus et ses disciples;
11 and the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, 'Wherefore with the tax-gatherers and sinners doth your teacher eat?'
ce que les pharisiens ayant vu, ils disaient à ses disciples: « Pourquoi est-ce avec les publicains et les pécheurs, que mange votre maître? »
12 And Jesus having heard, said to them, 'They who are whole have no need of a physician, but they who are ill;
Ce que lui ayant ouï, il dit: « Ce ne sont pas les valides qui ont besoin du médecin, mais les mal portants.
13 but having gone, learn ye what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'
Mais allez apprendre ce que signifie: Je veux la miséricorde et non le sacrifice; car je ne suis pas venu appeler des justes, mais des pécheurs. »
14 Then come to him do the disciples of John, saying, 'Wherefore do we and the Pharisees fast much, and thy disciples fast not?'
Alors les disciples de Jean s'approchent de lui, en disant: « Pourquoi nous et les pharisiens jeûnons-nous, tandis que tes disciples ne jeûnent point? »
15 And Jesus said to them, 'Can the sons of the bride-chamber mourn, so long as the bridegroom is with them? but days shall come when the bridegroom may be taken from them, and then they shall fast.
Et Jésus leur dit: « Est-ce que les fils de la chambre nuptiale peuvent être dans le deuil tant que l'époux est avec eux? Mais des jours viendront où l'époux leur sera enlevé, et alors ils jeûneront.
16 'And no one doth put a patch of undressed cloth on an old garment, for its filling up doth take from the garment, and a worse rent is made.
Personne ne met une pièce d'étoffe écrue à un vieil habit, car ce rapiécetage enlève une partie de l'habit, et il en résulte une déchirure pire.
17 'Nor do they put new wine into old skins, and if not — the skins burst, and the wine doth run out, and the skins are destroyed, but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.'
On ne met pas non plus du vin nouveau dans des outres vieilles, autrement les outres se rompent, et le vin se répand, et les outres sont perdues; mais on met du vin nouveau dans des outres neuves, et ils se conservent réciproquement. »
18 While he is speaking these things to them, lo, a ruler having come, was bowing to him, saying that 'My daughter just now died, but, having come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.'
Pendant qu'il leur parlait ainsi, voici, un chef s'étant approché l'adorait, en disant: « Ma fille vient de trépasser, mais viens poser ta main sur elle, et elle vivra. »
19 And Jesus having risen, did follow him, also his disciples,
Et Jésus s'étant levé le suivit, ainsi que ses disciples.
20 and lo, a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, having come to him behind, did touch the fringe of his garments,
Et voici, une femme, atteinte d'une perte de sang depuis douze ans, s'étant approchée par derrière toucha la frange de son manteau,
21 for she said within herself, 'If only I may touch his garment, I shall be saved.'
car elle disait en elle-même: « Si seulement je touche son manteau, je serai guérie. »
22 And Jesus having turned about, and having seen her, said, 'Be of good courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee,' and the woman was saved from that hour.
Mais Jésus s'étant retourné et l'ayant vue, dit: « Courage! ma fille, ta foi t'a guérie. » Et dès ce moment-là cette femme fut guérie.
23 And Jesus having come to the house of the ruler, and having seen the minstrels and the multitude making tumult,
Et Jésus étant arrivé dans la maison du chef, et ayant vu les joueurs de flûte et la foule bruyante, disait:
24 he saith to them, 'Withdraw, for the damsel did not die, but doth sleep,' and they were deriding him;
« Retirez-vous, car la petite fille n'est pas morte, mais elle dort. » Et ils se moquaient de lui.
25 but, when the multitude was put forth, having gone in, he took hold of her hand, and the damsel arose,
Mais, lorsque la foule eut été chassée, il entra, prit sa main, et la petite fille se leva.
26 and the fame of this went forth to all the land.
Et cette nouvelle se répandit dans toute cette contrée-là.
27 And Jesus passing on thence, two blind men followed him, calling and saying, 'Deal kindly with us, Son of David.'
Et comme Jésus s'éloignait de là, deux aveugles le suivirent, qui s'écriaient: « Aie pitié de nous, fils de David! »
28 And he having come to the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus saith to them, 'Believe ye that I am able to do this?' They say to him, 'Yes, sir.'
Et lorsqu'il fut arrivé dans la maison, les aveugles s'approchèrent de lui, et Jésus leur dit: « Croyez-vous que je puisse faire cela? » Ils lui disent: « Oui, Seigneur! »
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, 'According to your faith let it be to you,'
Alors il toucha leurs yeux, en disant: « Qu'il vous soit fait selon votre foi. »
30 and their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, 'See, let no one know;'
Et leurs yeux furent ouverts, et Jésus les tança vertement en disant: « Prenez garde que personne ne le sache. »
31 but they, having gone forth, did spread his fame in all that land.
Mais, après qu'ils furent sortis, ils répandirent sa renommée dans toute cette contrée-là.
32 And as they are coming forth, lo, they brought to him a man dumb, a demoniac,
Or, comme ils sortaient, voici, on lui amena un démoniaque muet;
33 and the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake, and the multitude did wonder, saying that 'It was never so seen in Israel:'
et le démon ayant été chassé, le muet parla, et la foule étonnée disait: « Jamais chose semblable ne s'est vue en Israël. »
34 but the Pharisees said, 'By the ruler of the demons he doth cast out the demons.'
Mais les pharisiens disaient: « C'est par le chef des démons qu'il chasse les démons. »
35 And Jesus was going up and down all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the reign, and healing every sickness and every malady among the people.
Et Jésus parcourait toutes les villes et les villages, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, et prêchant l'évangile du royaume, et guérissant toute espèce de maladies et d'infirmités.
36 And having seen the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, that they were faint and cast aside, as sheep not having a shepherd,
Or, en voyant la foule, il fut ému de compassion envers elle, parce qu'elle était lasse et abattue, comme des brebis qui n'ont pas de berger.
37 then saith he to his disciples, 'The harvest indeed [is] abundant, but the workmen few;
Alors il dit à ses disciples: « La moisson est considérable, il est vrai, mais les ouvriers sont en petit nombre;
38 beseech ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he may put forth workmen to His harvest.'
priez donc le maître de la moisson, afin qu'il envoie des ouvriers dans Sa moisson. »
