Psalms 78
1 The lernyng of Asaph. Mi puple, perseyue ye my lawe; bowe youre eere in to the wordis of my mouth.
Ein song til lærdom av Asaf. Lyd, mitt folk, på læra mi, legg øyra til det munnen min talar!
2 I schal opene my mouth in parablis; Y schal speke perfite resouns fro the bigynnyng.
Eg vil opna min munn med fyndord, eg vil lata gåtor frå gamall tid strøyma ut.
3 Hou grete thingis han we herd, aud we han knowe tho; and oure fadris. telden to vs.
Det me hev høyrt og veit, og det våre feder hev fortalt oss,
4 Tho ben not hid fro the sones of hem; in anothir generacioun. And thei telden the heriyngis of the Lord, and the vertues of hym; and hise merueilis, whyche he dide.
det vil me ikkje dylja for deira born, men fortelja Herrens pris for den komande ætti, og hans styrke og hans under, som han hev gjort.
5 And he reiside witnessyng in Jacob; and he settide lawe in Israel. Hou grete thingis comaundide he to oure fadris, to make tho knowun to her sones;
Han hev sett upp eit vitnemål i Jakob, og ei lov hev han lagt i Israel, som han baud våre feder, til å kunngjera deim for borni,
6 that another generacioun knowe. Sones, that schulen be born, and schulen rise vp; schulen telle out to her sones.
so den komande ætti, dei born som skulde verta fødde, kunde kjenna deim, at dei kunde koma fram og fortelja um deim til sine born,
7 That thei sette her hope in God, and foryete not the werkis of God; and that thei seke hise comaundementis.
og setja si von til Gud, og ikkje gløyma Guds verk, men taka vare på hans bodord,
8 Lest thei be maad a schrewid generacioun; and terrynge to wraththe, as the fadris of hem. A generacioun that dresside not his herte; and his spirit was not bileued with God.
og ikkje vera som deira feder, ei tver og tråssug ætt, ei ætt som ikkje gjorde sitt hjarta fast, og som i si ånd ikkje var trufast mot Gud.
9 The sones of Effraym, bendinge a bouwe and sendynge arowis; weren turned in the dai of batel.
Efraims born, dei væpna bogeskyttarar, dei snudde på stridsdagen.
10 Thei kepten not the testament of God; and thei nolden go in his lawe.
Dei heldt ikkje Guds pakt og vilde ikkje ferdast i hans lov.
11 And thei foryaten hise benefices; and hise merueils, whiche he schewide to hem.
Og dei gløymde hans storverk og hans under som han hadde synt deim.
12 He dide merueils bifore the fadris of hem in the loond of Egipt; in the feeld of Taphneos.
For deira feder hadde han gjort under i Egyptarlandet på Soans mark.
13 He brak the see, and ledde hem thorou; and he ordeynede the watris as in a bouge.
Han kløyvde havet og let deim ganga igjenom, og let vatnet standa som ein haug.
14 And he ledde hem forth in a cloude of the dai; and al niyt in the liytnyng of fier.
Og han leidde deim med skyi um dagen, og heile natti ved elds ljos.
15 He brak a stoon in deseert; and he yaf watir to hem as in a myche depthe.
Han kløyvde berg i øydemarki og let deim drikka som av store vatsdjup.
16 And he ledde watir out of the stoon; and he ledde forth watris as floodis.
Og han let bekkjer koma or fjellet og fekk vatn til å renna ned som elvar.
17 And thei `leiden to yit to do synne ayens hym; thei excitiden hiye God in to ire, in a place with out water.
Men dei heldt endå på og synda imot honom, og var tråssuge mot den Høgste i øydemarki.
18 And thei temptiden God in her hertis; that thei axiden meetis to her lyues.
Og dei freista Gud i sitt hjarta, so dei kravde mat for si lyst.
19 And thei spaken yuel of God; thei seiden, Whether God may make redi a bord in desert?
Og dei tala imot Gud, dei sagde: «Kann vel Gud duka bord i øydemarki?
20 For he smoot a stoon, and watris flowiden; and streemys yeden out in aboundaunce. Whether also he may yyue breed; ether make redi a bord to his puple?
Sjå, han slo i berg, so vatn rann ut, og bekkjer fløymde. Tru han og kann gjeva brød, eller koma med kjøt til sitt folk?»
21 Therfor the Lord herde, and delaiede; and fier was kindelid in Jacob, and the ire of God stiede on Israel.
Difor, då Herren høyrde det, vart han harm, og eld loga upp mot Jakob, og vreide reiste seg mot Israel;
22 For thei bileueden not in God; nether hopiden in his heelthe.
for dei trudde ikkje på Gud og leit ikkje på hans frelsa.
23 And he comaundide to the cloudis aboue; and he openyde the yatis of heuene.
Og han gav skyerne ovantil, og himmelportarne let han upp.
24 And he reynede to hem manna for to eete; and he yaf to hem breed of heuene.
Og han let manna regna yver deim til føda, og himmelkorn gav han deim.
25 Man eet the breed of aungels; he sent to hem meetis in aboundance.
Englebrød fekk menneskje eta, nista sende han deim til mette.
26 He turnede ouere the south wynde fro heuene; and he brouyte in bi his vertu the weste wynde.
Han let austanvinden fara ut i himmelen, og han førde sunnanvinden fram ved si magt.
27 And he reynede fleischis as dust on hem; and `he reinede volatils fethered, as the grauel of the see.
Og han let kjøt regna yver deim som dust, og fljugande fuglar som havsens sand,
28 And tho felden doun in the myddis of her castels; aboute the tabernaclis of hem.
og han let deim falla ned midt i deira læger, kringum deira bustader.
29 And thei eeten, and weren fillid greetli, and he brouyte her desire to hem;
Og dei åt og vart ovleg mette, og det dei hadde hug på, let han deim få.
30 thei weren not defraudid of her desier. Yit her metis weren in her mouth;
Dei var ikkje komne burt frå si lyst, endå hadde dei maten i munnen,
31 and the ire of God stiede on hem. And he killide the fatte men of hem; and he lettide the chosene men of Israel.
då steig Guds vreide upp imot deim, og han drap deira sterke menner hjå deim, og Israels ungdomar slo han ned.
32 In alle these thingis thei synneden yit; and bileuede not in the merueils of God.
Med alt dette synda dei endå, og dei trudde ikkje på hans under.
33 And the daies of hem failiden in vanytee; and the yeeris of hem faileden with haste.
Og han let deira dagar kverva i fåfengd, og deira år i rædsla.
34 Whanne he killide hem, thei souyten hym; and turneden ayen, and eerli thei camen to hym.
Når han slo deim ned, då spurde dei etter honom, og vende um og søkte Gud,
35 And thei bithouyten, that God is the helper of hem; and `the hiy God is the ayenbier of hem.
og kom i hug at Gud var deira berg og den høgste Gud var deira atterløysar.
36 And thei loueden hym in her mouth; and with her tunge thei lieden to hym.
Men dei gjølte for honom med sin munn, og laug for honom med si tunga.
37 Forsothe the herte of hem was not riytful with hym; nethir thei weren had feithful in his testament.
Og deira hjarta hekk ikkje fast ved honom, og dei var ikkje true mot hans pakt.
38 But he is merciful, and he schal be maad merciful to the synnes of hem; and he schal not destrie hem. And he dide greetli, to turne awei his yre; and he kyndelide not al his ire.
Men han er miskunnsam, han forlet skuld og tyner ikkje, og mange gonger let han sin vreide venda um, og han vakte ikkje heile sin harm.
39 And he bithouyte, that thei ben fleische; a spirit goynge, and not turnynge ayen.
Og han kom i hug at dei var kjøt, ein andepust som kverv og ikkje kjem att.
40 Hou oft maden thei hym wrooth in desert; thei stireden hym in to ire in a place with out watir.
Kor ofte dei tråssa honom i øydemarki og gjorde honom sorg i audni!
41 And thei weren turned, and temptiden God; and thei wraththiden the hooli of Israel.
Og dei freista atter Gud og krenkte Israels Heilage.
42 Thei bithouyten not on his hond; in the dai in the which he ayen bouyte hem fro the hond of the trobler.
Dei kom ikkje handi hans i hug, eller den dagen då han fria deim frå fienden,
43 As he settide hise signes in Egipt; and hise grete wondris in the feeld of Taphneos.
då han gjorde sine teikn i Egyptarland, og sine undergjerningar på Soans mark.
44 And he turnede the flodis of hem and the reynes of hem in to blood; that thei schulden not drynke.
Og han gjorde deira elvar til blod, og sine rennande vatn kunde dei ikkje drikka.
45 He sente a fleisch flie in to hem, and it eet hem; and he sente a paddok, and it loste hem.
Han sende imot deim flugesvermar som åt deim upp, og froskar som tynte deim.
46 And he yaf the fruytis of hem to rust; and he yaf the trauels of hem to locustis.
Og han gav deira grøda til gnagaren og deira arbeid til grashoppen.
47 And he killide the vynes of hem bi hail; and the moore trees of hem bi a frost.
Han slo deira vintre ned med hagl og deira morbærtre med haglsteinar.
48 And he bitook the beestis of hem to hail; and the possessioun of hem to fier.
Og han gav deira fe til haglet og deira hjorder til eldingarne.
49 He sente in to hem the ire of his indignacioun; indignacioun, and ire, and tribulacioun, sendingis in bi iuel aungels.
Han sende på deim sin brennande vreide, sinne og harm og trengsla, ei sending av uferds-englar.
50 He made weie to the path of his ire, and he sparide not fro the deth of her lyues; and he closide togidere in deth the beestis of hem.
Han braut veg for sin vreide, han sparde ikkje deira sjæl for dauden, og deira liv gav han til sotti.
51 And he smoot al the first gendrid thing in the lond of Egipt; the first fruytis of alle the trauel of hem in the tabernaclis of Cham.
Og han slo alle fyrstefødde i Egyptarland, fyrstegrøda av dei sterke i Khams tjeld.
52 And he took awei his puple as scheep; and he ledde hem forth as a flok in desert.
Og han let sitt folk fara av stad som sauer, og førde deim som ei hjord i øydemarki.
53 And he ledde hem forth in hope, and thei dredden not; and the see hilide the enemyes of hem.
Og han leidde deim trygt, og dei ræddast ikkje, men havet løynde deira fiendar.
54 And he brouyte hem in to the hil of his halewyng; in to the hil which his riythond gat. And he castide out hethene men fro the face of hem; and bi lot he departide to hem the lond in a cord of delyng.
Og han førde deim til sitt heilage landmerke, det fjell som hans høgre hand hadde vunne.
55 And he made the lynagis of Israel to dwelle in the tabernaclis of hem.
Og han dreiv ut heidningar for deim, og let deira land falla til deim som arv, og let Israels ætter bu i deira tjeld.
56 And thei temptiden, and wraththiden heiy God; and thei kepten not hise witnessyngis.
Men dei freista Gud, den Høgste, og tråssa honom, og hans vitnemål agta dei ikkje på.
57 And thei turneden awei hem silf, and thei kepten not couenaunt; as her fadris weren turned in to a schrewid bouwe.
Og dei veik av og var utrugne som deira feder, dei vende um som ein veik boge.
58 Thei stiriden him in to ire in her litle hillis; and thei terriden hym to indignacioun of her grauen ymagis.
Dei harma honom med sine haugar og eggja honom med sine avgudar.
59 God herde, and forsook; and brouyte to nouyt Israel greetli.
Gud høyrde det og vart vreid, og han vart svært leid av Israel.
60 And he puttide awei the tabernacle of Sylo; his tabernacle where he dwellide among men.
Og han gjekk burt frå sin bustad i Silo, det tjeld han hadde slege upp millom menneskje.
61 And he bitook the vertu of hem in to caitiftee; and the fairnesse of hem in to the hondis of the enemye.
Og han let sin styrke verta førd burt som fange, og gav si æra i fiendehand.
62 And he closide togidere his puple in swerd; and he dispiside his erytage.
Og han gav sitt folk til sverdet, og på sin arv harmast han.
63 Fier eet the yonge men of hem; and the virgyns of hem weren not biweilid.
Eld åt deira unge menner, og deira møyar fekk ingen bruresong.
64 The prestis of hem fellen doun bi swerd; and the widewis of hem weren not biwept.
Deira prestar fall for sverdet, og deira enkjor fekk ikkje syrgja
65 And the Lord was reisid, as slepynge; as miyti greetli fillid of wiyn.
Då vakna Herren som ein sovande, som ei kjempa frå rus av vin.
66 And he smoot hise enemyes on the hynderere partis; he yaf to hem euerlastyng schenschipe.
Og han slo sine fiendar attende, og han førde yver deim æveleg skam.
67 And he puttide awei the tabernacle of Joseph; and he chees not the lynage of Effraym.
Og han støytte burt Josefs tjeld, og Efraims ætt valde han ikkje ut.
68 But he chees the lynage of Juda; he chees the hil of Syon, which he louede.
Men han valde Judas ætt, Sions fjell som han elska.
69 And he as an vnicorn bildide his hooli place; in the lond, which he foundide in to worldis.
Og han bygde sin heilagdom som høge fjell, liksom jordi som han hev grunnfest til æveleg tid.
70 And he chees Dauid his seruaunt, and took hym vp fro the flockis of scheep; he took hym fro bihynde scheep with lambren.
Og han valde ut David, sin tenar, og tok honom frå sauegrindarne.
71 To feed Jacob his seruaunt; and Israel his eritage.
Han førde honom frå lambsauerne som han fylgde, til å gjæta Jakob, sitt folk, og Israel, sin arv.
72 And he fedde hem in the innocens of his herte; and he ledde hem forth in the vndurstondyngis of his hondis.
Og han gjætte deim etter sitt ærlege hjarta, og med si kloke hand leidde han deim.
