Exodus 32
1 Forsothe the puple siy, that Moises made tariyng to come doun fro the hil, and it was gaderid ayens Aaron, and seide, Rise thou, and make goddis to vs, that schulen go bifore vs, for we witen not what bifelde to this Moises, that ladde vs out of the lond of Egipt.
Då folket såg at Moses drygde med å koma ned av fjellet, so flokka dei seg um Aron, og sagde med han: «Kom, gjer oss ein gud som kann ganga framfyre oss! For me veit ikkje kvar det hev vorte av denne Moses, som fylgde oss ut or Egyptarland.»
2 And Aaron seide to hem, Take ye the goldun eere ryngis fro the eeris of youre wyues, and of sones and douytris, and brynge ye to me.
Då sagde Aron til deim: «Tak gullringarne som konorne og sønerne og døtterne dykkar hev i øyro, og kom til meg med deim!»
3 The puple dide tho thingis, that he comaundide, and brouyte eere ryngis to Aaron;
Då reiv alt folket gullringarne or øyro sine, og kom til Aron med deim.
4 and whanne he hadde take tho, he formede bi `werk of yetyng, and made of tho a yotun calf. And thei seiden, Israel, these ben thi goddis, that ladde thee out of the lond of Egipt.
Og Aron tok imot gullet, og støypte det um, og laga det med beitelen, so det vart som ein kalv. Då ropa dei: «Dette er guden din, Israel, han som fylgde deg ut or Egyptarland!»
5 And whanne Aaron had seyn this thing, he bildide an auter bifore hym, and he criede bi the vois of a criere, and seide, To morewe is the solempnete of the Lord.
Då Aron såg det, bygde han eit altar for honom, og ropa ut: «I morgon er det høgtid for Herren!»
6 And thei rysen eerli, and offeriden brent sacrifyces, and pesible sacrifices; and the puple sat to ete and drynke, and thei risen to pley.
Dagen etter reis folket upp i otta, og ofra brennoffer, og bar fram takkoffer; sidan sette dei seg til å eta og drikka, og stod so upp att og gav seg til å leika.
7 Forsothe the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, Go thou, go doun, thi puple hath synned, `whom thou leddist out of the lond of Egipt.
Då sagde Herren til Moses: «Skunda deg og gakk ned att! Folket ditt, som du fylgde ut or Egyptarland, hev fare stygt åt.
8 Thei yeden awei soone fro the weie which thou schewidst to hem, and thei maden to hem a yotun calf, and worschipyden it, and thei offeriden sacrifices to it, and seiden, Israel, these ben thi goddis, that ledden thee out of the lond of Egipt.
Dei var snøgge til å taka utav den vegen eg sagde dei skulde fylgja. No hev dei støypt seg ein gullkalv; den legg dei seg på kne for og ofrar til honom og ropar: «Dette er guden din, Israel, han som førde deg ut or Egyptarland!»
9 And eft the Lord seide to Moises, Y se, that this puple is of hard nol;
«Eg hev havt auga med dette folket, » sagde Herren til Moses, «og set at det er eit hardkyndt folk.
10 suffre thou me, that my woodnesse be wrooth ayens hem, and that Y do awey hem; and Y schal make thee in to a greet folk.
Lat meg no få råda, so vil eg sleppa harmen min laus, og gjera ende på deim, og sidan vil eg gjera deg til eit stort folk.»
11 Forsothe Moises preiede `his Lord God, and seide, Lord, whi is thi veniaunce wrooth ayens thi puple, whom thou leddist out of the lond of Egipt in greet strengthe and in stronge hond?
Men Moses freista å blidka Herren sin Gud og sagde: «Herre, kvi vil du sleppa harmen din laus imot folket ditt, som du hev henta ut or Egyptarlandet med di store magt og di sterke hand?»
12 Y biseche, that Egipcians seie not, he ledde hem out felli, `that he schulde sle in the hillis, and to do awei fro erthe, thin ire ceesse, and be thou quemeful on the wickidnesse of thi puple.
Skal då egyptarane få det å segja: «Det var ikkje for det gode han fylgde deim ut or landet; han vilde drepa deim i fjelli og rydja deim or verdi»? Døyv harmen som brenn i deg, og legg ned hemntankarne mot folket ditt.
13 Haue thou mynde of Abraham, of Ysaac, and of Israel, thi seruauntis, to whiche thou hast swore bi thi silf, and seidist, Y schal multiplie youre seed as the sterris of heuene, and Y schal yyue to youre seed al this lond of which Y spak, and ye schulen welde it euere.
Kom i hug det du lova Abraham og Isak og Israel, tenarane dine, då du svor ved deg sjølv: «Eg vil auka ætti dykkar, so ho vert som stjernorne på himmelen, og heile dette landet som eg hev tala um, det vil eg gjeva etterkomarane dykkar; og dei skal eiga det i all æva.»»
14 And the Lord was plesid, that he dide not the yuel which he spak ayens his puple.
Då angra Herren at han hadde lova folket sitt vondt.
15 And Moises turnede ayen fro the hil, and bar in his hond twei tablis of witnessyng, writun in euer either side,
So gjekk Moses ned att av fjellet, og i handi hadde han dei tvo lovtavlorne, tavlor som var fullskrivne på båe sidor; alle stader var det skrive på deim.
16 and maad bi the werk of God; and the writyng of God was grauun in tablis.
Og tavlorne dei var Guds eige arbeid, og skrifti ho var Guds eigi skrift, som var inngravi på tavlorne.
17 Forsothe Josue herde the noise of the puple criynge, and seide to Moyses, Yellyng of fiytyng is herd in the castels.
Då Josva høyrde omen av folket som stima og ståka, so sagde han med Moses: «Eg høyrer stridsljod i lægret.»
18 To whom Moises answeride, It is not cry of men exitynge to batel, nether the cry of men compellynge to fleyng, but Y here the vois of syngeris.
«Dette er ikkje fagnadrop frå folk som vinn, og ikkje vådeskrik frå folk som fell; for meg lydest det som mangrøysta song, » svara Moses.
19 And whanne he hadde neiyid to the castels, he siy the calf, and dauncis; and he was wrooth greetli, and `castide forth the tablis fro the hond, and brak tho at the rootis of the hil.
Då dei kom næmare innåt lægret og fekk sjå gullkalven og dansarflokkarne, då vart Moses so harm, at han kasta tavlorne frå seg nedunder fjellet og slo deim sund.
20 And he took the calf, which thei hadden maad, and brente, and brak `til to poudur, which he spreynte in to watir, and yaf therof drynke to the sones of Israel.
Og han tok kalven som dei hadde gjort, og kasta honom på elden og mulde honom i smått, og strådde dusti på vatnet, og det let han Israels-folket drikka av.
21 And Moises seide to Aaron, What dide this puple to thee, that thou brouytist in on hym the gretteste synne?
So sagde han med Aron: «Kva vondt hev dette folket gjort deg, sidan du laut føra deim upp i so stor ei synd?»
22 To whom he answeride, My lord, be not wrooth, for thou knowist this puple, that it is enclynaunt to yuel;
«Ver ikkje vreid på meg, herre bror!» svara Aron. «Du veit kor gjenomvondt det er, dette folket.
23 thei seiden to me, Make thou goddis to vs, that schulen go bifore vs, for we witen not, what bifelde to this Moises, that ladde vs out of the lond of Egipt.
Dei sagde med meg: «Gjer oss ein gud som kann ganga framfyre oss! For me veit ikkje kvar det hev vorte av denne Moses, han som fylgde oss ut or Egyptarland.»
24 To whiche Y seide, Who of you hath gold? Thei token, and yauen to me, and Y castide it forth in to the fier, and this calf yede out.
Då sagde eg til deim: «Den som hev noko gull på seg, lyt taka det av seg!» So gav dei meg gullet, og eg kasta det i elden; då kom denne kalven fram.»
25 Therfor Moyses siy the puple, that it was maad bare; for Aaron hadde spuylid it for the schenschip of filthe, and hadde maad the puple nakid among enemyes.
Då Moses såg at folket var agelaust - for Aron hadde mist agen yver deim, til spott for fiendarne -
26 And Moises stood in the yate of the castels, and seide, If ony man is of the Lord, be he ioyned to me; and alle the sones of Leuy weren gaderid to hym.
so gjekk han fram i lægerporten, og ropa: «Hit til meg alle Herrens menner!» Då flokka heile Levi-ætti seg um honom,
27 To whiche he seide, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, A man putte swerd on his hipe, go ye, and `go ye ayen fro yate `til to yate bi the myddil of the castels, and ech man sle his brother, freend, and neiybore.
og han sagde til deim: «So segjer Herren, Israels Gud: «Spenn sverdet på dykk, alle mann! Gakk att og fram i lægret, frå port til port, og hogg ned for fote, både brør og vener og frendar!»»
28 The sones of Leuy diden bi the word of Moises, and as thre and twenti thousynd of men felden doun in that day.
Levi-sønerne gjorde som Moses sagde, og den dagen fall det av folket ikring tri tusund mann.
29 And Moises seide, Ye han halewid youre hondis to dai to the Lord, ech man in his sone, and brother, that blessyng be youun to you.
For Moses sagde: «I dag lyt de vigja dykk åt Herren, um det so er med blodet av sønerne og brørne dykkar; so skal han i dag gjeva dykk si velsigning!»
30 Sotheli whanne `the tother day was maad, Moises spak to the puple, Ye han synned the moost synne; Y schal stie to the Lord, if in ony maner Y schal mowe biseche hym for youre felony.
Dagen etter sagde Moses med folket: «De hev gjort ei stor synd. No vil eg stiga upp til Herren og beda um nåde for dykk.»
31 And he turnede ayen to the Lord, and seide, Lord, Y biseche, this puple hath synned a greet synne, and thei han maad goldun goddis to hem; ethir foryyue thou this gilt to hem,
So gjekk Moses attende til Herren og sagde: «Ai ei, dette folket hev gjort ei stor synd: dei hev laga seg ein gud av gull.
32 ether if thou doist not, do awey me fro thi book, which thou hast write.
Å gjev du kunde gløyma syndi deira! Kann du ikkje, so strjuk meg ut or boki di som du skriv i!»
33 To whom the Lord answeride, Y schal do awey fro my book hym that synneth ayens me;
Då sagde Herren til Moses: «Den som syndar mot meg, honom stryk eg ut or boki mi.
34 forsothe go thou, and lede this puple, whydur Y spak to thee; myn aungel schal go bifore thee; forsothe in the day of veniaunce Y schal visite also this synne of hem.
Gakk no du, og fylg folket dit som eg hev sagt deg! Sjå, engelen min skal ganga framfyre deg. Men når min time kjem, vil eg heimsøkja deim for syndi deira.»
35 Therfor the Lord smoot the puple for the gilt of the calf, which calf Aaron made.
Og Herren førde ulukka yver folket for di dei hadde gjort kalven, den som Aron laga åt deim.
