Deuteronomy 25
1 If cause is bitwixe ony men, and thei axen iugis, thei schulen yyue the victorie of riytfulnesse to him, whom thei perseyuen to be iust, thei schulen condempne hym of wickidnesse, whom thei perseyuen to be wickid.
Når folk som ligg i trætta med kvarandre, møter fram for retten, og fær dom i saki, og domen lyder so, at den eine hev rett og den andre hev urett,
2 Sotheli if thei seen hym that synnede, worthi of betyngis, thei schulen caste him doun, and make to be betun bifor hem; also the maner of betyngis schal be for the mesure of synne,
og at den som hev urett, skal hava hogg, so skal dei leggja honom ned, og domaren skal sjå på at dei gjev honom so mange slag som svarar til brotet han hev gjort.
3 so oneli that tho passe not the noumbre of fourti, lest thi brother be to-rent viliche bifore thin iyen, and go awei.
Fyrti slag kann dei slå honom, ikkje fleire; for gjev dei honom mange fleire slag, vert han ærelaus for dykk.
4 Thou schalt not bynde the `mouth of the oxe tredynge thi fruytis in the corn floor.
Du skal ikkje setja muleband på ein ukse som du treskjer med.
5 Whanne britheren dwellen to gidere, and oon of hem is deed with out fre children, the wijf of the deed brother schal not be weddid to anothir man, but his brothir schal take hir, and schal reise seed of his brother.
Når brør bur i hop, og ein av deim døyr sonlaus, då må ikkje enkja etter den avlidne gifta seg ut or ætti og taka ein framand til mann; men verbror hennar skal festa henne, og taka henne til kona, og bu i hop med henne i staden for bror sin.
6 And he schal clepe the firste gendrid sone `of hir bi the name `of hym, `that is, of the deed brothir, that his name be not don awei fro Israel.
Og den fyrste sonen ho fær, skal kallast for son åt den avlidne broren, so ikkje namnet hans skal døy ut i Israel.
7 Forsothe if he nyle take the wijf of his brother, which is due to hym bi lawe, the womman schal go to the yate of the citee; and sche schal axe the grettere men in birthe, and sche schal seie, `The brother of myn hosebonde nyle reise seed of his brother in Israel, nethir wole take me in to mariage.
Men hev ikkje verbroren hug til å gifta seg med enkja, so skal ho ganga fram på tinget for styresmennerne og segja: «Verbror min neittar å reisa upp att namnet åt bror sin i Israel; han vil ikkje gifta seg med meg.»
8 And anoon thei schulen make hym to be clepid, and thei schulen axe. If he answerith, Y nyle take hir to wijf;
Då skal styresmennerne i heimbygdi hans kalla honom fyre seg, og telja for honom; og stend han endå på det at han ikkje vil hava brorkona si,
9 the womman schal go to hym bifor the eldre men of Israel, and sche schal take awei the schoo, and sche schal spete in to his face, and schal seie, So it schal be doon to the man, that bildith not `the hows of his brother;
so skal ho ganga burt til honom so styresmennerne ser på det, og draga skoen av foten hans, og sputta honom i andlitet og segja desse ordi: «So skal ein fara åt med den som ikkje vil byggja upp att huset åt bror sin.»
10 and `the name of hym schal be clepid in Israel, The hows of the man vnschood.
Og sidan skal dei i Israel kalla ætti hans «Skolausarne».
11 If twei men han strijf bitwixe hem silf, and oon bigynneth to stryue ayens another, and the wijf of `the tother man wole delyuere hir hosebonde fro the hond of the strongere man, and puttith hond, and `takith the schamefast membris `of hym,
Når menner ryk i hop og slæst, og kona åt ein av dei spring burtåt og vil hjelpa mannen sin, og so grip den som slær honom, i blygsli,
12 thou schalt kitte awei `the hond of hir, nether thou schalt be bowid on hir bi ony mercy.
då skal du hogga av henne handi, og ikkje tykkja synd i henne.
13 Thou schalt not haue in the bagge dyuerse weiytis,
Du skal ikkje hava tvo slag vegtlodd i taska di, sume større og sume mindre.
14 a grettere and a lesse, nether a buyschel more and lesse schal be in thin hows.
Du skal ikkje hava tvo slag skjeppemål i huset ditt, eit større og eit mindre.
15 Thou schalt haue a iust weiyte and trewe, and an euene buyschel `and trewe schal be to thee, that thou lyue in myche tyme on the lond which thi Lord God schal yyue to thee.
Rett og gild vegt og rett og gildt mål skal du hava. Då skal du få liva lenge i det landet som Herren, din Gud, gjev deg.
16 For the Lord schal haue hym abhomynable that doith these thingis, and he wlatith, `ethir cursith, al vnriytfulnesse.
For Herren, din Gud hev stygg til alle som gjer sovore, alle som gjer urett.
17 Haue thou mynde what thingis Amalech dide to thee in the weie, whanne thou yedist out of Egipt;
Kom i hug korleis amalekitarne for åt med dykk då de var på ferdi frå Egyptarland,
18 hou he cam to thee, and killide the laste men of thin oost, that saten wery, whanne thou were disesid with hungur and trauel, and he dredde not God.
korleis dei kom yver dykk på vegen, medan de var trøytte og mode, og hogg ned deim som for attarst i heren dykkar, alle deim som var veike og hadde gjeve seg etter; so lite ottast dei Gud!
19 Therfor whanne thi Lord God hath youe reste to thee, and hath maad suget alle naciouns `bi cumpas, in the lond which he bihiyte to thee, thou schalt do awei `the name of hym vndur heuene; be thou war lest thou foryete.
Og når du er komen til det landet som Herren, din Gud, gjev deg til odel og eiga, og han hev gjeve deg fred for alle fiendar dine rundt ikring, då skal du rydja ut or verdi alt som Amalek heitar; gløym ikkje det!
