1 Kings 13
1 And lo! a man of God cam fro Juda, bi the word of the Lord, in to Bethel, while Jeroboam stood on the auter, `and castide encence.
Men nettupp då Jerobeam stod ved altaret og vilde kveikja offereld, kom det på Herrens bod ein gudsmann frå Juda til Betel.
2 And `the man of God criede ayens the auter, bi the word of the Lord, and seide, Auter! auter! the Lord seith these thingis, Lo! a sone, Josias by name, shal be borun to the hows of Dauid; and he schal offre on thee the preestis of hiye thingis, that brennen now encensis yn thee, and he schal brenne the bonys of men on thee.
Og etter Herrens fyresegn ropa han imot altaret og sagde: «Altar, altar! So segjer Herren: «Ein son skal verta fødd åt Davids hus; Josia skal han heita, på deg skal han ofra offerhaug-prestarne som kveikjer offereld på deg; mannebein skal dei då brenna på deg.»»
3 And he yaf a signe in that dai, `and seide, This schal be `the signe that the Lord spak, Lo! the auter schal be kit, and the aische which is `there ynne, schal be sched out.
Same gongen nemnde han eit teikn og sagde: «Dette er teiknet på at Herren hev tala: Sjå, altaret skal rivna, og oska som er på det, skal renna utyver.»
4 And whanne the kyng hadde herd the word of the man of God, which word he hadde cried ayens the auter in Bethel, the kyng helde forth his hond fro the auter, and seide, Take ye hym. And his hond driede, which he hadde holde forth, and he myyte not drawe it ayen to hym silf.
Då kong Jerobeam høyrde det som gudsmannen ropa imot altaret i Betel, rette han ut handi frå altaret og sagde: «Tak honom!» Men handi som han hadde rett ut imot honom visna, og han kunde ikkje taka henne til seg att.
5 Also the auter was kit, and the aische was sched out of the auter, bi the signe which the man of God bifor seide, in the word of the Lord.
Og altaret rivna, og oska rann ut frå altaret; det var teiknet som gudsmannen hadde nemnt, etter Herrens bod.
6 And the kyng seide to the man of God, Biseche thou the face of thi Lord God, and preie thou for me, that myn hond be restorid to me. And the man of God preiede the face of God; and the hond of the king turnede ayen to hym, and it was maad as it was bifore.
Då svara kongen og sagde til gudsmannen: «Vil du naudbeda Herren, din Gud, at eg må kunna taka handi til meg att?» Og gudsmannen naudbad Herren, og kongen kunde då taka handi til seg att, og ho vart som ho hadde vore fyrr.
7 Sotheli the kyng spak to the man of God, Come thou hoom with me, that thou ete, and Y schal yyue yiftis to thee.
Då sagde kongen til gudsmannen: «Kom heim med meg og styrk deg, og lat meg få gjeva deg ei gåva!»
8 And the man of God seide to the kyng, Thouy thou schalt yyue to me the half part of thin hows, Y schal not come with thee, nether Y schal ete breed, nether Y schal drynke watir in this place;
Men gudsmannen sagde til kongen: «Um du gav meg helti av huset ditt, vilde eg ikkje ganga inn med deg like vel; her vil eg korkje eta eller drikka.
9 `for so it is comaundid to me bi the word of the Lord, comaundinge, Thou schalt not ete breed, nether thou schalt drynke water, nether thou schalt turne ayen bi the weie bi which thou camest.
For det bodet eg fekk av Herren: «Du skal ikkje eta brød og ikkje drikka vatn, og ikkje skal du fara den same vegen attende som du gjekk av stad.»»
10 Therfor he yede bi another weie, and turnede not ayen bi the weie, bi which he cam in to Bethel.
Og so for han av ei annan veg og vende ikkje heim att den vegen han var komen.
11 Forsothe sum elde profete dwellide in Bethel, to whom hise sones camen, and telden to hym alle the werkis whiche the man of God hadde do in that dai in Bethel; and thei telden to her fader the wordis whiche he spak to the kyng.
Men i Betel budde ein gamall profet, og son hans kom og fortalde honom alt det gudsmannen hadde gjort i Betel den dagen, og kva han hadde sagt til kongen. Og då dei hadde fortalt dette til far sin,
12 And the fadir of hem seide to hem, Bi what weie yede he? Hise sones schewiden to hym the weie, bi which the man of God yede, that cam fro Juda.
sagde far deira til deim: «Kva veg gjekk han?» Sønerne hadde set kva veg gudsmannen hadde fare, han som var komen frå Juda.
13 And he seide to hise sones, Sadle ye an asse to me. And whanne thei hadden sadlid,
Då sagde han til sønerne sine: «Sala asnet åt meg!» Då dei so hadde sala asnet åt honom, sette han seg på det
14 he stiede, and yede after the man of God, and foond hym sittyng vndur a terebynte. And he seide to the man of God, Whether thou art the man of God, that camest fro Juda? He answeride, Y am.
og tok ut etter gudsmannen og fann honom; han under eiki; og han spurde honom: «Er du den gudsmannen som er komen frå Juda?» Han svara: «Ja, det er eg.»
15 And he seide to hym, Come thou with me hoom, that thou ete breed.
Då sagde han til honom: «Fylg meg heim, og et med meg!»
16 And he seide, Y may not turne ayen, nether come with thee, nether Y schal ete breed, nether Y schal drynke water in this place;
Men han svara: «Eg kann ikkje ganga attende med deg eller stiga innum hjå deg, og eg kann korkje eta eller drikka med deg her;
17 for the Lord spak to me in the word of the Lord, and seide, Thou schalt not ete breed, and thou schalt not drynke water there, nether thou schalt turne ayen bi the weie bi which thou yedist.
for det kom eit ord til meg frå Herren: «Du skal korkje eta eller drikka der; du skal ikkje heller fara attende same vegen som du gjekk dit.»»
18 Which seide to hym, And Y am a profete lijk thee; and an aungel spak to me bi the word of the Lord, and seide, Lede ayen hym in to thin hows, that he ete breed, and drynke watir. He disseyuede the man of God,
Han sagde til honom: «Eg og er profet liksom du, og ein engel hev tala til meg på Herrens bod og sagt: «Få honom attende med deg og gjev honom mat og drikka!»» Men det laug han for honom.
19 and brouyte him ayen with hym. Therfor he ete breed in his hows, and drank watir.
So snudde han um att med honom og åt i huset hans og drakk.
20 And whanne he sat at the table, the word of the Lord was maad to the prophete that brouyte hym ayen;
Men medan dei sat ved bordet, kom Herrens ord til profeten som hadde fenge honom attende.
21 and he criede to the man of God that cam fro Juda, and seide, The Lord seith these thingis, For thou obeidist not to the mouth of the Lord, and keptist not the comaundement which thi Lord God comaundide to thee,
Og han ropa til gudsmannen som var komen frå Juda, og sagde: «So segjer Herren: «For di du hev vore motstridig mot Herrens ord og ikkje lydt det bodet som Herren, din Gud, gav deg,
22 and thou turnedist ayen, and etist breed, and drankist watir in the place in which Y comaundide to thee, that thou schuldist not ete breed, nether schuldist drynke watir, thi deed bodi schal not be borun in to the sepulcre of thi fadris.
men snudde um att og ete og drukke på den staden der han hadde forbode deg å gjera det, so skal liket ditt ikkje koma i fedregravi di.»»
23 And whanne he hadde ete and drunke, the prophete, whom he hadde brouyt ayen, sadlide his asse.
Då han no hadde ete og drukke, sala han asnet åt honom, åt profeten, som han hadde fenge attende.
24 And whanne he hadde go, a lioun foond hym in the weye, and killide hym. And his deed bodi was cast forth in the weie; sotheli the asse stood bisydis hym, and the lioun stood bisidis the deed bodi.
Og han tok i veg, men ei løva råka honom på vegen og drap honom. Sidan låg liket hans slengt på vegen; men asnet gav seg til å standa attmed det, og løva stod like eins attmed liket.
25 And lo! men passynge sien the deed bodi cast forth in the weye, and the lyoun stondynge bisidis the deed bodi; and thei camen, and pupplischiden in the citee, in which thilke eeld prophete dwellide.
Då no folk som gjekk framum der, fekk sjå liket hans slengt på vegen, og løva standande attmed det, gjekk dei inn i byen der den gamle profeten budde, og tala um det.
26 And whanne thilke prophete, that brouyte hym ayen fro the weye, hadde herd this, he seide, It is the man of God, that was vnobedient to the mouth of God; and the Lord bitook hym to the lioun, that brak hym, and killide hym, bi the word of the Lord which he spak to hym.
Då profeten som hadde fenge honom attende frå vegen, høyrde det, sagde han: «Det er gudsmannen som var motstridig imot Herrens ord; difor hev Herren gjeve honom løva i vald, og ho hev rive honom sund og drepe honom, etter det ord som Herren hadde tala til honom.»
27 And he seide to hise sones, Sadle ye an asse to me.
Og han sagde til sønerne sine: «Legg sal på asnet åt meg!» Og dei sala det.
28 And whanne thei hadden sadlid, and he hadde go, he foond his deed bodi cast forth in the weie, and the asse and the lioun stondinge bisidis the deed bodi; and the lioun eet not the deed bodi, nether hirtide the asse.
So tok han ut og fann liket liggjande slengt på vegen, og løva og asnet standane attmed liket; løva hadde ikkje ete av liket og ikkje rive sund asnet heller.
29 Therfor the profete took the deed bodi of the man of God, and puttide it on the asse; and he turnede ayen, and brouyte it in to the cyte of the eeld prophete, that he schulde biweile hym.
Og profeten tok upp liket av gudsmannen og lagde honom på asnet og tok honom med seg attende; og den gamle profeten gjekk inn i byen sin og vilde halda syrgjehøgtid og gravleggja honom.
30 And he puttide his deed bodi in his sepulcre, and thei biweiliden him, Alas! alas! my brother!
Og han lagde liket hans i si eigi grav, og dei heldt syrgjehøgtid og ropa: «Eie, eie meg, bror min!»
31 And whanne thei hadden biweilid hym, he seide to hise sones, Whanne Y schal be deed, birie ye me in the sepulcre, in which the man of God is biried; putte ye my bonys bisidis hise bonys.
Då han no hadde gravlagt honom, sagde han til sønerne sine: «Når eg døyr, skal de leggja meg i den gravi som gudsmannen ligg i; legg beini mine attmed hans bein.
32 For sotheli the word schal come, which he bifor seide in the word of the Lord, ayens the auter which is in Bethel, and ayens alle the templis of hiy placis, that ben in the citees of Samarie.
For det skal sanna seg, det som han, etter Herrens ord, sagde imot altaret i Betel og imot alle offerhaughusi i byarne i Samaria.»
33 After these wordis Jeroboam turnede not ayen fro his werste weie, but ayenward of the laste puplis he made preestis of hiye places; who euer wolde, fillide his hond, and he was maad preest of hiy placis.
Jerobeam vende like vel ikkje um ifrå sin vonde veg etter denne hendingi, men heldt fram med å gjera til prestar ved offerhaugarne både likt og ulikt. Den som berre hadde hug til det, fekk av honom handi fyllt, so dei kunde verta prestar ved haugarne.
34 And for this cause the hows of Jeroboam synnede, and it was distried, and doon awey fro the face of erthe.
På denne vis vart Jerobeam upphavsmann til synd i ætti si og orsak til at huset hans vart utrudt og utstroke av jordi.
