1 Kings 12
1 Forsothe Roboam cam in to Sichem; for al Israel was gaderid thidur to make hym kyng.
Og Rehabeam for til Sikem; for heile Israels var kome til Sikem og vilde taka honom til konge.
2 `And sotheli Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, whanne he was yit in Egipt, and fledde fro the face of kyng Salomon, turnede ayen fro Egipt, for the deeth of Salomon was herd;
Men då Jerobeam Nebatsson frette det - han var endå i Egyptarland; han hadde rømt dit for kong Salomo, og Jerobeam budde soleis i Egyptarland,
3 and thei senten, and clepiden hym. Therfor Jeroboam cam, and al the multitude of Israel, and thei spaken to Roboam,
og dei sende bod dit og bad honom heim att - då kom Jerobeam og heile Israels-lyden og tala med Rehabeam og sagde:
4 and seiden, Thi fadir puttide hardeste yok on vs, therfor abate thou a litil now of the hardest comaundement of thi fadir, and of the greuousiste yok which he puttide on vs, and we schulen serue to thee.
«Far din lagde på oss eit hardt ok; men vil du no letta på harde strævet og det tunge oket som far din lagde på oss, so vil me tena deg.»
5 Which Roboam seide to hem, Go ye `til to the thridde dai, and turne ye ayen to me.
Han svara deim: «Gakk burt og bia tri dagar og kom so til meg att!» Og folket gjekk.
6 And whanne the puple hadde go, kyng Roboam took counsel with the eldere men, that stoden bifor Salomon, his fadir, while he lyuyde yit; and Roboam seide, What counsel yyue ye to me, that Y answere to the puple?
Då rådførde kong Rehabeam seg med dei gamle, som hadde vore i tenesta hjå Salomo, far hans, medan han livde, og spurde deim: «Kva svar råder de meg til å gjeva dette folket?»
7 Whiche seiden to hym, If thou obeiest to dai to this puple, and seruest this puple, and yyuest stide to her axyng, and spekist to hem liyte wordis, thei schulen be seruauntis to thee in alle daies.
Dei svara honom og sagde: «Bøygjer du deg for dette folket i dag og er deim til tenesta og gjev deim gode ord til svar, so vil dei verta tenarane dine alle dagar.»
8 Which Roboam forsook the counsel of elde men, which thei yauen to hym, and took yonge men, that weren nurschid with hym, and stoden nyy him;
Men han brydde seg ikkje um den rådi som dei gamle gav honom; men rådførde seg med dei unge, som var uppvaksne upp i lag med honom og no stod i hans tenesta.
9 and he seide to hem, What counsel yyue ye to me, that Y answere to this puple, that seiden to me, Make thou esyere the yok which thi fadir puttide on vs?
Han sagde til deim: «Kva råder de meg til å svara dette folket som hev tala til meg og sagt: «Lat det oket som far din hev lagt på oss verta lettare?»»
10 And the yonge men, that weren nurschid with hym, seiden to hym, Thus speke thou to this puple, that spaken to thee, and seiden, Thi fadir made greuouse oure yok, releeue thou vs; thus thou schalt speke to hem, My leest fyngur is grettere than the bak of my fader;
Dei unge kararne som var uppvaksne i lag med honom, svara honom då og sagde: «So skal du segja til dette folket som hev tala til deg og sagt: «Far din lagde eit tungt ok på oss, men gjer no du det lettare for oss!» - So skal du segja til deim: Litlefingeren min er tjukkare enn mjødmane åt far min.
11 and now my fadir puttide on you a greuouse yok, forsothe Y schal adde on youre yok; my fadir beet you with scourgis, forsothe Y schal bete you with scorpiouns.
Hev difor far min lagt eit tungt ok på dykk, so skal eg gjera oket dykkar endå tyngre; hev far min tukta dykk med svipor, so skal eg skal tukta dykk med skorpionar.»
12 Therfor Jeroboam, and al the puple, cam to Roboam, in the thridde dai, as the kyng spak, seiynge, Turne ye ayen to me in the thridde dai.
So kom Jerobeam og heile folket til Rehabeam tridje dagen, so som kongen hadde sagt: «Kom hit til meg att tridje dagen!»
13 And the kyng answeride harde thingis to the puple, while the counsel of eldere men was forsakun, which thei hadden youe to hym;
Då gav kongen folket eit hardt svar; for han brydde seg ikkje um den rådi dei gamle hadde gjeve honom.
14 and he spak to hem bi the counsel of yonge men, and seide, My fadir made greuouse youre yok, forsothe Y schal adde to youre yok; my fadir beet you with scourgis, forsothe Y schal bete you with scorpiouns.
Etter rådi åt dei unge kararne sagde han til deim: «Hev far min lagt eit tungt ok på dykk, so skal eg gjera oket dykkar endå tyngre. Hev far min tukta dykk med svipor, so skal eg tukta dykk med skorpionar.»
15 And the kyng assentide not to the puple, for the Lord hadde turned awey, `ether hadde wlatid hym, that the Lord schulde reise his word, which he hadde spoke in the hond of Ahias of Silo to Jeroboam, sone of Nabath.
Kongen høyrde soleis ikkje på folket, for di Herren laga det soleis, so det ordet skulde sannast som Herren hadde tala til Jerobeam Nebatsson ved siloniten Ahia.
16 Therfor the puple siy, that the kyng nolde here hem; and the puple answeride to the kyng, and seide, What part is to vs in Dauid, ether what eritage in the sone of Ysay? Israel, turne thou ayen in to thi tabernaclis; now, Dauid, se thou thin hows. And Israel yede in to hise tabernaclis.
Då no heile Israel såg at kongen ikkje høyrde på deim, gav folket dette svaret: «Kva deil hev me i David? Ingen lut i Isaisonen! Heim til hyttorne, Israel! Sjå no sjølv til huset ditt, David!» So for Israel heim kvar til sitt.
17 Forsothe Roboam regnede on the sones of Israel, whiche euere dwelliden in the citees of Juda.
Berre yver dei Israels-borni som budde i byarne i Juda, vart Rehabeam konge.
18 Therfore kyng Roboam sente Adhuram, that was on the tributis; and al the puple of Israel stonyde hym, and he was deed.
Og då kong Rehabeam sende i veg Adoram som hadde øvste tilsynet med pliktarbeidet, so steina heile Israel honom i hel. Då skunda kong Rehabeam seg upp i vogni si og rømde til Jerusalem.
19 Forsothe kyng Roboam stiede hastili on the chare, and fledde in to Jerusalem; and Israel departide fro the hows of Dauid, til in to present dai.
So reiv då Israel seg laus ifrå Davids hus, og soleis hev det vore til denne dag.
20 Forsothe it was doon, whanne al Israel hadde herd that Jeroboam turnede ayen, thei senten, and clepiden hym, whanne the cumpany was gaderid togidere, and thei maden hym kyng on al Israel; and no man suede the hows of Dauid, outakun the lynage aloone of Juda.
Men då heile Israel frette at Jerobeam var komen att, sende dei bod og bad honom til tings og kåra honom til konge yver heile Israel; det var ingen som heldt fast på Davids hus, so nær som Juda-ætti åleine.
21 Forsothe Roboam cam to Jerusalem, and gaderide al the hows of Juda, and the lynage of Beniamyn, an hundrid and fourescore thousynde of chosun men and weriours, that thei schulden fiyte ayens the hows of Israel, and schulden brynge ayen the rewme to Roboam, sone of Solomon.
Då Rehabeam kom til Jerusalem, samla han heile Judas hus og Benjamins-ætti, hundrad og åtteti tusund utvalde stridsmenner, og vilde strida imot Israels hus og vinna kongedømet att for Rehabeam Salomoson.
22 Forsothe the word of God was made to Semeia, the man of God, and seide,
Men då kom Guds ord til gudsmannen Semaja soleis:
23 Speke thou to Roboam, sone of Salomon, the kyng of Juda, and to al the hows of Juda and of Beniamyn, and to the residue of the puple, and seie thou, The Lord seith thes thingis,
«Seg til Rehabeam Salomoson, kongen i Juda, og til heile Judas og Benjamins hus og til resten av folket:
24 Ye schulen not stie, nether ye schulen fiyte ayens youre britheren, the sones of Israel; `a man turne ayen in to his hows, for this word is doon of me. Thei herden the word of the Lord, and thei turneden ayen fro the iurney, as the Lord comaundide to hem.
So segjer Herren: «De skal ikkje fara upp og strida mot brørne dykkar, Israels-sønerne. Snu heim att, kvar til sitt hus! For det som hev hendt, er kome frå meg.»» Då lydde dei Herrens ord og snudde og gjekk sin veg, som Herren hadde sagt.
25 Forsothe Jeroboam bildide Sichem, in the hil of Effraym, and dwellide there; and he yede out fro thennus, and bildide Phanuel.
Jerobeam bygde upp Sikem på Efraimsfjellet og busette seg der. Derifrå tok han ut og bygde upp Penuel.
26 And Jeroboam seide in his herte, Now the rewme schal turne ayen to the hows of Dauid,
Og Jerobeam sagde med seg sjølv: «Riket kann snart ganga attende til Davids hus.
27 if this puple stieth to Jerusalem, that it make sacrifices in the hows of the Lord in Jerusalem; and the herte of this puple schal turne to her lord, Roboam, kyng of Juda; and thei schulen sle me, and schulen turne ayen to hym.
Dersom dette folket fær fara upp til Herrens hus i Jerusalem og ofra, so kann folkehugen venda attende til hovdingen deira, Rehabeam, kongen i Juda; ja då drep dei gjerne meg og vender attende til Rehabeam, kongen i Juda.»
28 And by counsel thouyt out, he made tweyne goldun caluys, and seide to hem, Nyle ye stie more in to Jerusalem; Israel, lo! thi goddis, that ledden thee out of the lond of Egipt.
Og då kongen hadde tenkt yver dette, laga han tvo gullkalvar, og han sagde til folket: «No lyt de vera nok med ferder upp til Jerusalem. Sjå her er guden din, Israel som førde deg upp or Egyptarlandet.»
29 And he settide oon in Bethel, and the tother in Dan.
Og han sette upp den eine i Betel, den andre sette han i Dan.
30 And this word was maad to Israel in to synne; for the puple yede til in to Dan, to worschipe the calf.
Dette vart orsak til synd; folket gjekk radt til Dan og steig fram for den eine av deim.
31 And Jeroboam made templis in hiye placis, and `he made preestis of the laste men of the puple, that weren not of the sones of Leuy.
Og han bygde hus på offerhaugarne og sette til prestar likt og ulikt, folk som ikkje var av Levi-sønerne.
32 And he ordeynede a solempne dai in the eiythe monethe, in the fiftenthe dai of the monethe, bi the licnesse of solempnyte which was halewid in Juda. And he stiede, and made in lijk maner an auter in Bethel, that he schulde offre to the calues, whiche he hadde maad; and he ordeynede in Bethel preestis of the hiye places, whiche he hadde maad.
Og Jerobeam skipa til ei høgtid i den åttande månaden, på den femtande dagen i månaden, i likskap med høgtidi i Juda, og han ofra på altaret. So gjorde han i Betel, med di han ofra til kalvarne som han hadde laga, og dei som han hadde sett til offerhaug-prestar, let han gjera tenesta i Betel.
33 And he styede on the auter, which he hadde bildid in Bethel, in the fiftenthe day of the eiythe monethe, which he hadde feyned of his herte; and he made solempnyte to the sones of Israel, and he stiede on the auter, that he schulde brenne encence.
Og han ofra på det altaret han hadde laga i Betel, den femtande dagen i åttande månaden, den månaden som han hadde valt ut etter sitt eige hovud. Han skipa då til ei høgtid for Israels-borni og steig upp til altaret og vilde kveikja offereld.
