Matthew 16
1 The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
Und Pharisäer und Sadducäer kamen zu ihm und versuchten ihn mit dem Ansinnen, sie ein Zeichen vom Himmel sehen zu lassen.
2 But he answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’
Er aber antwortete ihnen: Am Abend sagt ihr: es giebt schönes Wetter, denn der Himmel ist rot,
3 In the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can’t discern the signs of the times!
und am Morgen: heute giebt es Unwetter, denn der Himmel ist rot und trübe. Das Aussehen des Himmels könnt ihr beurteilen, aber die Zeichen der Zeiten nicht.
4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” He left them and departed.
Ein böses und ehebrecherisches Geschlecht begehrt ein Zeichen, und es soll ihm kein Zeichen gegeben werden, als das Zeichen Jonas'. Und er verließ sie und gieng davon.
5 The disciples came to the other side and had forgotten to take bread.
Und als die Jünger in das Land drüben giengen, vergaßen sie Brot mitzunehmen.
6 Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Jesus aber sagte zu ihnen: sehet zu und nehmet euch in Acht vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadducäer!
7 They reasoned among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”
Sie aber dachten bei sich: das geht darauf, daß wir keine Brote genommen.
8 Jesus, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, because you have brought no bread?
Jesus aber erkannte es und sagte: was denkt ihr daran, ihr Kleingläubige, daß ihr keine Brote mitgenommen habet?
9 Don’t you yet perceive or remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up,
Merket ihr noch nichts, und denket auch nicht an die fünf Brote für die Fünftausend, und wie viel Körbe ihr noch fortgenommen?
10 or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
Noch an die sieben Brote für die Viertausend, und wie viel Handkörbe ihr noch fortgenommen?
11 How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Wie möget ihr nicht merken, daß ich euch nicht von Broten gesagt habe: nehmet euch in Acht vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadducäer?
12 Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Hierauf verstanden sie, daß er nicht gemeint hatte, sich in Acht nehmen vor dem Sauerteig, sondern vor der Lehre der Pharisäer und Sadducäer.
13 Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
Als aber Jesus in die Gegend von Cäsarea Philippi kam, fragte er seine Jünger, was sagen die Leute vom Sohn des Menschen, wer er sei?
14 They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
Sie aber sagten: die einen: Johannes der Täufer, andere aber: Elias, wieder welche: Jeremias oder einer von den Propheten.
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Sagt er zu ihnen: ihr aber, was sagt ihr, wer ich sei?
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Es antwortete aber Simon Petrus und sprach: du bist der Christus, der Sohn des lebendigen Gottes.
17 Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
Jesus aber antwortete ihm: selig bist du, Simon Barjona; denn Fleisch und Blut hat es dir nicht geoffenbart, sondern mein Vater in den Himmeln.
18 I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
So sage auch ich dir: du bist Petrus, und auf diesen Felsen will ich meine Gemeinde bauen, und die Pforten der Hölle sollen sie nicht überwältigen. (Hadēs g86)
19 I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”
Ich will dir die Schlüssel des Reichs der Himmel geben, und was du bindest auf der Erde, soll in den Himmeln gebunden sein, und was du lösest auf der Erde, soll in den Himmeln gelöst sein.
20 Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.
Hierauf befahl er den Jüngern, sie sollten niemand sagen, das er der Christus sei.
21 From that time, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
Von da an begann Jesus seinen Jüngern darzulegen, daß er müsse nach Jerusalem ziehen und viel leiden von den Aeltesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten, und getötet werden und am dritten Tage auferweckt werden.
22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”
Und Petrus zog ihn an sich, und begann ihn zu schelten und sagte: das verhüte Gott, Herr, das darf dir nimmermehr widerfahren.
23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”
Er aber wandte sich und sagte zu Petrus: weiche hinter mich, Satan; du bist mir ein Aergernis, du denkst nicht was Gott ansteht, sondern was den Menschen.
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
Hierauf sagte Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: Will jemand mir nachgehen, der verleugne sich selbst, und nehme sein Kreuz auf, und folge mir.
25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.
Denn wer sein Leben retten will, der wird es verlieren; wer aber sein Leben verliert um meinetwillen, der wird es gewinnen.
26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
Denn was hälfe es dem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewänne, er käme aber um sein Leben? oder was soll der Mensch zum Tausch geben für sein Leben?
27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.
Denn es ist an dem, daß der Sohn des Menschen kommt in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters mit seinen Engeln, und hierauf wird er einem jeden vergelten nach seinem Thun.
28 Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
Wahrlich, ich sage euch, es sind einige unter denen, die hier stehen, welche den Tod nicht kosten werden, bis sie den Sohn des Menschen kommen sehen in seinem Reich.
