1 Samuel 23
1 David was told, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and are robbing the threshing floors.”
E hicieron saber a David, diciendo: He aquí que los Fililsteos combaten a Ceila, y saquean las eras.
2 Therefore David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go and strike these Philistines?” Yahweh said to David, “Go strike the Philistines, and save Keilah.”
Y David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré a herir a estos Filisteos? Y Jehová respondió a David: Vé, hiere los Filisteos, y libra a Ceila.
3 David’s men said to him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”
Y los varones que estaban con David, le dijeron: He aquí que nosotros estando aquí en Judá, estamos con miedo: ¿cuánto más si fuéremos a Ceila contra el ejército de los Filisteos?
4 Then David inquired of Yahweh yet again. Yahweh answered him, and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
Y David tornó a consultar a Jehová: y Jehová le respondió, y dijo: Levántate, desciende a Ceila, que yo entregaré en tu mano a los Fililsteos.
5 David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their livestock, and killed them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Y partióse David con sus hombres a Ceila, y peleó contra los Filisteos, y trajo antecogidos sus ganados, e hiriólos con grande estrago, y libró David a los de Ceila.
6 When Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, he came down with an ephod in his hand.
Y aconteció, que huyendo Abiatar, hijo de Aquimelec, a David a Ceila, vino también con el efod en su mano.
7 Saul was told that David had come to Keilah. Saul said, “God has delivered him into my hand, for he is shut in by entering into a town that has gates and bars.”
Y fue dicho a Saul, como David había venido a Ceila; y dijo Saul: Dios le ha traído a mis manos: porque él está encerrado metiéndose en ciudad con puertas y cerraduras.
8 Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.
Y juntó Saul todo el pueblo a la batalla para descender a Ceila y poner cerco a David, y a los suyos.
9 David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him. He said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”
Y entendiendo David que Saul pensaba contra él mal, dijo a Abiatar sacerdote: Trae el efod.
10 Then David said, “O Yahweh, the God of Israel, your servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake.
Y dijo David: Jehová Dios de Israel, tu siervo ha oído que Saul procura de venir contra Ceila a destruir la ciudad por causa mía.
11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? Yahweh, the God of Israel, I beg you, tell your servant.” Yahweh said, “He will come down.”
¿Entregarme han los señores de Ceila en sus manos? ¿Descenderá Saul, como tu siervo ha oído? Jehová Dios de Israel, ruégote que lo declares a tu siervo. Y Jehová dijo: Sí, que descenderá.
12 Then David said, “Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?” Yahweh said, “They will deliver you up.”
Y dijo David: ¿Entregarme han los señores de Ceila a mí, y a los varones que están conmigo en las manos de Saul? Y Jehová respondió: Sí, os entregarán.
13 Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah and went wherever they could go. Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah; and he gave up going there.
David entonces se levantó con sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, y saliéronse de Ceila, y fuéronse de una parte a otra. Y la nueva vino a Saul, como David se había escapado de Ceila: y dejó de salir.
14 David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God didn’t deliver him into his hand.
Y David se estaba en el desierto en peñas, y habitaba en un monte en el desierto de Zif: y Saul le buscaba todos los días: mas Dios no le entregó en sus manos.
15 David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. David was in the wilderness of Ziph in the woods.
Y viendo David, que Saul había salido en busca de su vida, David se estaba en el bosque en el desierto de Zif.
16 Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David into the woods, and strengthened his hand in God.
Y levantándose Jonatán, hijo de Saul, vino a David en el bosque, y confortó su mano en Dios:
17 He said to him, “Don’t be afraid, for the hand of Saul my father won’t find you; and you will be king over Israel, and I will be next to you; and Saul my father knows that also.”
Y díjole: No tengas temor, que no te hallará la mano de Saul mi padre, y tú reinarás sobre Israel, y yo seré segundo después de ti: y aun mi padre lo sabe así.
18 They both made a covenant before Yahweh. Then David stayed in the woods and Jonathan went to his house.
E hicieron ambos alianza delante de Jehová: y David se quedó en el bosque, y Jonatán se volvió a su casa.
19 Then the Ziphites came up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, “Doesn’t David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the woods, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of the desert?
Y subieron los de Zif a decir a Saul en Gabaa: ¿No está David escondido en nuestra tierra en las peñas del bosque, en el collado de Jaquila, que está a la mano derecha del desierto?
20 Now therefore, O king, come down. According to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part will be to deliver him up into the king’s hand.”
Por tanto, oh rey, desciende presto ahora, según todo el deseo de tu alma, y nosotros le entregaremos en la mano del rey.
21 Saul said, “You are blessed by Yahweh, for you have had compassion on me.
Y Saul dijo: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis tenido compasión de mí.
22 Please go make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there; for I have been told that he is very cunning.
Id pues ahora, y apercibíd aun, y considerád, y ved su lugar donde tiene el pie, y quien le haya visto allí: porque me ha sido dicho, que él es en gran manera astuto.
23 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself; and come again to me with certainty, and I will go with you. It shall happen, if he is in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.”
Considerád pues, y ved todos los escondrijos donde se esconde, y volvéd a mí con la certeza, y yo iré con vosotros: que si él estuviere en la tierra, yo le buscaré con todos los millares de Judá.
24 They arose, and went to Ziph before Saul; but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah on the south of the desert.
Y ellos se levantaron, y se fueron a Zif delante de Saul: mas David y sus varones estaban en el desierto de Maón, en la campaña que está a la diestra del desierto.
25 Saul and his men went to seek him. When David was told, he went down to the rock, and stayed in the wilderness of Maon. When Saul heard that, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.
Y partióse Saul con sus varones a buscarle: y fue dado aviso a David, y descendió de allí a la peña, y quedóse en el desierto de Maón. Lo cual como Saul oyó, siguió a David al desierto de Maón.
26 Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain; and David hurried to get away for fear of Saul, for Saul and his men surrounded David and his men to take them.
Y Saul iba por el un lado del monte, y David con los suyos por el otro lado del monte, y David se daba priesa para ir delante de Saul: mas Saul y los suyos encerraron a David y a los suyos para tomarlos.
27 But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have made a raid on the land!”
Entonces vino un mensajero a Saul, diciendo: Ven luego, porque los Filisteos han entrado con ímpetu en la tierra.
28 So Saul returned from pursuing David, and went against the Philistines. Therefore they called that place Sela Hammahlekoth.
Y así se volvió Saul de perseguir a David, y partióse contra los Filisteos. Por esta causa pusieron nombre a aquel lugar, Sela-hammalecot.
29 David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of En Gedi.
Entonces David subió de allí, y habitó en las fortalezas de Engadí.
