< Luke 5 >

1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,
Ngelinye ilanga uJesu emi eduze kweChibi laseGenezaretha abantu beminyezelana kuye belalela ilizwi likaNkulunkulu,
2 And saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
wabona ekhunjini lechibi izikepe ezimbili zitshiywe khonapho ngabagoli benhlanzi ababegezisa omambule babo.
3 And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the boat.
Wangena kwesinye isikepe esasingesikaSimoni, wamcela ukuthi akathi gudlu asuke kancane okhunjini. Wasehlala phansi wafundisa abantu ehlezi esikepeni.
4 Now when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
Eseqedile ukukhuluma wathi kuSimoni, “Gwedla ungene enzikini uphosele omambule bakho ukuze ubambe inhlanzi.”
5 And Simon answering said to him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
USimoni waphendula wathi, “Nkosi, sisebenze gadalala ubusuku bonke, kodwa kasibambanga lutho. Kodwa njengoba usitsho njalo ngizabehlisa omambule.”
6 And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net broke.
Kwathi sebenze njalo babamba inhlanzi ezaba zinengi kwaze kwaqalisa ukudabuka omambule.
7 And they beckoned to their partners, who were in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
Basebebiza abakhula babo kwesinye isikepe ukuthi bazobelekelela. Beza abakhula babo kwesinye isikepe ukuthi bazobelekelela. Beza bazigcwalisa zombili izikepe zathi phamu zaze zaqalisa ukutshona.
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
Kwathi uSimoni Phethro ekubona lokhu wazilahla phansi phambi kukaJesu wathi, “Suka kimi, Nkosi; ngingumuntu oyisoni!”
9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
Ngoba yena labakhula bakhe babemangele ngenhlanzi ababezibambile,
10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
kwamangalisa njalo uJakhobe loJohane amadodana kaZebhediya, ababe phathisana loSimoni. UJesu wasesithi kuSimoni, “Ungesabi; kusukela manje usuzagola abantu.”
11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
Basebedonsela izikepe zabo okhunjini batshiya konke bamlandela.
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Kwathi uJesu ekwelinye lamadolobho kweza indoda eyayigcwele ubulephero. Yathi ibona uJesu yathi mbo phansi ngobuso yamncenga yathi, “Nkosi, nxa uthanda ungangihlambulula.”
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
UJesu welula isandla sakhe wayithinta indoda leyo. Wathi, “Ngiyathanda. Hlambuluka!” Masinyane nje ubulephero bahle baphela.
14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
UJesu waseyilaya wathi, “Ungatsheli muntu kodwa hamba uyeziveza kumphristi ubusunikela umhlatshelo wokuhlanjululwa kwakho owamiswa nguMosi ukuze kube yibufakazi kubo.”
15 But so much the more a fame of him went abroad: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
Kodwa udumo lwakhe lwanda ngamandla, yikho amaxuku abantu eza ukuzamuzwa lokusiliswa emikhuhlaneni yabo.
16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
Kodwa kanengi uJesu wayesithi nyelele ayesithela ezindaweni ezithuleyo ayekhuleka.
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
Ngelinye ilanga elokhu efundisa, kwakuhlezi khonapho abaFarisi labafundisi bomthetho ababephuma emizini yonke yaseGalile abanye bevela eJudiya laseJerusalema. Amandla eNkosi ayekhona kuye ukuze asilise abagulayo.
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man who was sick with the palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
Kwafika amanye amadoda ethwele indoda eyayome umhlubulo ngecansi efuna ukungena laye endlini ambeke phambi kukaJesu.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
Athi esehlulekile ngenxa yokuminyana kwabantu, akhwela ephahleni, amehlisela phansi ngesikhala amuthi qithi phakathi laphakathi kwabantu phambi kukaJesu.
20 And when he saw their faith, he said to him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
Kwathi uJesu ebona ukholo lwawo wathi, “Mngane, izono zakho sezithethelelwe.”
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
AbaFarisi labafundisi bomthetho bakhonona bathi, “Ungubani yena lo umuntu okhuluma ehlambaza na? Ngubani ongathethelela izono ngaphandle kukaNkulunkulu kuphela?”
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said to them, Why reason ye in your hearts?
UJesu wayekwazi abakucabangayo wasebuza wathi, “Kungani linakana izinto ezinje ezinhliziyweni zenu?
23 Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Rise and walk?
Yikuphi okulula: ukuthi, ‘Izono zakho sezithethelelwe,’ loba ukuthi, ‘Sukuma uhambe’?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority upon earth to forgive sins, (he said to the sick with the palsy, ) I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thy house.
Kodwa ukuze lazi ukuthi iNdodana yoMuntu ilamandla okuthethelela izono emhlabeni.” Wasesithi kuyo indoda eyome umhlubulo, “Sukuma, thatha icansi lakho uhambe uye ekhaya.”
25 And immediately he arose before them, and took up what he had been laying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
Masinyane wathi lothu phambi kwabo, wabutha ayekade elele phezu kwakho waya ekhaya edumisa uNkulunkulu.
26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
Wonke umuntu wamangala, badumisa uNkulunkulu. Bamangala kakhulu bathi, “Lamuhla sibone izimanga.”
27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a tax collector, named Levi, sitting at the tax office: and he said to him, Follow me.
Ngemva kwalokhu uJesu waphuma wasebona umthelisi owayethiwa nguLevi ehlezi endaweni yakhe yokuthelisa. UJesu wathi kuye, “Ngilandela,”
28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.
uLevi wasukuma watshiya konke wamlandela.
29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of tax collectors and of others that sat down with them.
ULevi wasesenzela uJesu idili elikhulu endlini yakhe kukhona ixuku labathelisi labanye besidla labo.
30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?
Kodwa abaFarisi labafundisi bomthetho abeqembu labo basola kubafundi bakhe bathi, “Lenzelani ukudla linathe labathelisi kanye lezoni na?”
31 And Jesus answering said to them, They that are well need not a physician; but they that are sick.
UJesu wabaphendula wathi, “Kakusibo abaphilayo abaswela umelaphi, kodwa ngabagulayo.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Kangilandanga ukubiza abulungileyo, kodwa ukubiza izoni ukuba ziphenduke.”
33 And they said to him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?
Bathi kuye, “Abafundi bakaJohane bazila kanengi bekhuleka njalo labafundi babaFarisi labo benza njalo, kodwa abakho bahlala besidla, benatha.”
34 And he said to them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
UJesu waphendula wathi, “Kungenzeka yini ukuzilisa izethekeli zomyeni emthimbeni umyeni eseselazo na?
35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days.
Kodwa sizafika isikhathi lapho umyeni ezasuswa kuzo; zizazila ngalezonsuku.”
36 And he spoke also a parable to them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if so, then both the new maketh a tear, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
Wabatshela umzekeliso lo: “Kakho odabula isichibi esigqokweni esitsha asithungele esigqokweni esidala. Angenzenjalo, uzakuba esesidabule isigqoko esitsha, ikanti isichibi sesitsha kasiyikufanela esidala.
37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
Njalo kakho othela iwayini elitsha emigodleni yezikhumba emidala. Angenza njalo iwayini elitsha lizaziqhekeza izikhumba iwayini livuze kuthi lemigodla yezikhumba leyo ihle yonakale.
38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
Hatshi, iwayini elitsha lithelwa emigodleni yezikhumba emitsha.
39 No man also having drunk old wine immediately desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
Njalo kakho othi eseqale wanatha iwayini elidala afune elitsha, ngoba uthi, ‘Elidala lingcono.’”
