Aionian Verses
And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down to the grave to my son mourning. And his father wept for him. (Sheol )
Y se levantaron todos sus hijos y todas sus hijas para consolarlo; mas él no quiso tomar consolación, y dijo: Porque yo tengo de descender a mi hijo enlutado hasta la sepultura. Y lo lloró su padre. (Sheol )
And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
Y él dijo: No descenderá mi hijo con vosotros; que su hermano es muerto, y él solo ha quedado; y si le aconteciere algún desastre en el camino por donde vais, haréis descender mis canas con dolor a la sepultura. (Sheol )
and if ye take this one also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
y si tomareis también éste de delante de mí, y le aconteciere algún desastre, haréis descender mis canas con dolor a la sepultura. (Sheol )
it shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not [with us], that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
sucederá que cuando él no vea al joven, morirá: y tus siervos harán descender las canas de tu siervo nuestro padre con dolor a la sepultura. (Sheol )
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the ground open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down alive into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have despised the LORD. (Sheol )
Mas si el SEÑOR hiciere una nueva cosa, y la tierra abriere su boca, y los tragare con todas sus cosas, y descendieren vivos al infierno, entonces conoceréis que estos hombres irritaron al SEÑOR. (Sheol )
So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit: and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly. (Sheol )
Y ellos, con todo lo que tenían, descendieron vivos al infierno, y los cubrió la tierra, y perecieron de en medio de la congregación. (Sheol )
For a fire is kindled in mine anger, And burneth unto the lowest pit, And devoureth the earth with her increase, And setteth on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol )
Porque fuego se encenderá en mi furor, y arderá hasta el infierno más profundo; y devorará la tierra y sus frutos, y abrasará los fundamentos de los montes. (Sheol )
The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. (Sheol )
El SEÑOR mata, y él da vida; él hace descender al sepulcro, y hace subir. (Sheol )
The cords of Sheol were round about me: the snares of death came upon me. (Sheol )

Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace. (Sheol )
Tú pues harás conforme a tu sabiduría; no dejarás descender sus canas al sepulcro en paz. (Sheol )
Now therefore hold him not guiltless, for thou art a wise man; and thou wilt know what thou oughtest to do unto him, and thou shalt bring his hoar head down to the grave with blood. (Sheol )
Pero ahora no lo absolverás; que hombre sabio eres, y sabes cómo te has de haber con él; y harás descender sus canas con sangre a la sepultura. (Sheol )
As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away, so he that goeth down to Sheol shall come up no more. (Sheol )
La nube se acaba, y se va; así el que desciende al sepulcro, que nunca más subirá; (Sheol )
It is high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than Sheol; what canst thou know? (Sheol )

Oh that thou wouldest hide me in Sheol, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol )

If I look for Sheol as mine house; if I have spread my couch in the darkness; (Sheol )

It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, when once there is rest in the dust. (Sheol )

They spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment they go down to Sheol. (Sheol )

Drought and heat consume the snow waters: [so doth] Sheol [those which] have sinned. (Sheol )

Sheol is naked before him, and Abaddon hath no covering. (Sheol )

They are appointed as a flock for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd: and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall be for Sheol to consume, that there be no habitation for it. (Sheol )

The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not satisfied with water; and the fire that saith not, Enough. (Sheol )

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Sheol )

Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the flashes thereof are flashes of fire, a very flame of the LORD. (Sheol )
Ponme como un sello sobre tu corazón, como un signo sobre tu brazo; porque fuerte es como la muerte el amor; duro como el sepulcro el celo; sus brasas, brasas de fuego, fuerte llama. (Sheol )
Therefore hell hath enlarged her desire, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth among them, descend [into it]. (Sheol )
Por tanto el infierno ensanchó su alma, y sin medida extendió su boca; y su gloria y su multitud descendió allá; y su fausto, y el que se regocijaba en él. (Sheol )
Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. (Sheol )
Pide para ti señal del SEÑOR tu Dios, demandándola en lo profundo, o arriba en lo alto. (Sheol )
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Sheol )
El infierno abajo se espantó de ti; te despertó muertos que en tu venida saliesen a recibirte, hizo levantar de sus tronos a todos los príncipes de la tierra, a todos los reyes de los gentiles. (Sheol )
Thy pomp is brought down to hell, [and] the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and worms cover thee. (Sheol )
Se depositó en el sepulcro tu soberbia, y el sonido de tus vihuelas; gusanos serán tu cama, y gusanos te cubrirán. (Sheol )
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the uttermost parts of the pit. (Sheol )
Mas tú derribado eres en el sepulcro, a los lados del abismo. (Sheol )
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: (Sheol )
Porque habéis dicho: Pacto tenemos hecho con la muerte, y con la sepultura; hicimos acuerdo que cuando pasare el turbión del azote, no llegará a nosotros; porque pusimos nuestra acogida en mentira, y en la falsedad nos esconderemos; (Sheol )
And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. (Sheol )
Y será anulado vuestro pacto con la muerte, y vuestro acuerdo con el sepulcro no será firme; cuando pasare el turbión del azote, seréis de él hollados. (Sheol )
I said, In the noontide of my days I shall go into the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol )
Yo dije: En el cortamiento de mis días iré a las puertas de la sepultura, privado soy del resto de mis años. (Sheol )
For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. (Sheol )
Porque el sepulcro no te confesará, ni te alabará la muerte; ni los que descienden en el hoyo esperarán tu verdad. (Sheol )
And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thine ambassadors far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell. (Sheol )
Y fuiste al rey con ungüento, y multiplicaste tus perfumes, y enviaste tus embajadores lejos, y te abatiste hasta lo profundo. (Sheol )
Thus saith the Lord GOD: In the day when he went down to hell I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the rivers thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. (Sheol )
Así dijo el Señor DIOS: El día que descendió al infierno, hice hacer luto, hice cubrir por él el abismo, y detuve sus ríos, y las muchas aguas fueron detenidas; y al Líbano cubrí de tinieblas por él, y todos los árboles del campo se desmayaron. (Sheol )
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth. (Sheol )
Del estruendo de su caída hice temblar a los gentiles, cuando lo hice descender al infierno con los que descienden a la sepultura; y todos los árboles del Edén escogidos, y los mejores del Líbano, todos los que beben aguas, tomaron consolación en la tierra baja. (Sheol )
They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain by the sword; yea, they that were his arm, [that] dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the nations. (Sheol )
También ellos descendieron con él al infierno, con los muertos a cuchillo, los que fueron su brazo, los que estuvieron a su sombra en medio de los gentiles. (Sheol )
The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie still, even the uncircumcised, slain by the sword. (Sheol )
De en medio del infierno hablarán a él los fuertes de los fuertes, con los que le ayudaron, que descendieron, y yacen con los incircuncisos muertos a cuchillo. (Sheol )
And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war, and have laid their swords under their heads, and their iniquities are upon their bones; for [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. (Sheol )
Y no yacerán con los fuertes que cayeron de los incircuncisos, los cuales descendieron al infierno con sus armas de guerra, y pusieron sus espadas debajo de sus cabezas; mas sus pecados estarán sobre sus huesos, porque fueron terror de fuertes en la tierra de los vivientes. (Sheol )
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, where are thy plagues? O grave, where is thy destruction? repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. (Sheol )
De la mano del sepulcro los redimiré, de la muerte los libraré. Oh muerte, yo seré tu mortandad; y seré tu destrucción, oh sepulcro; arrepentimiento será escondido de mis ojos. (Sheol )
Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; and though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. (Sheol )
Aunque cavasen hasta el infierno, de allá los tomará mi mano; y si subieren hasta el cielo, de allá los haré descender. (Sheol )
And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he answered me; out of the belly of hell cried I, [and] thou heardest my voice. (Sheol )
Y dijo: Clamé de mi tribulación al SEÑOR, Y él me oyó; Del vientre del infierno clamé, Y mi voz oíste. (Sheol )
Yea, moreover, wine is a treacherous dealer, a haughty man, and that keepeth not at home; who enlargeth his desire as hell, and he is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all peoples. (Sheol )
Cuanto más que el dado al vino, transpasador, hombre soberbio no permanecerá. Que ensanchó como un osario su alma, y es como la muerte, que no se llenará; antes reunió a sí todos los gentiles, y amontonó a sí todos los pueblos. (Sheol )
but I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of the hell of fire. (Geenna )
Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que se enojare descontroladamente con su hermano, será culpado del juicio; y cualquiera que dijere a su hermano: Raca, será culpado del concejo; y cualquiera que dijere: Fatuo, será culpado del quemadero del fuego. (Geenna )
And if thy right eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. (Geenna )
Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo, y échalo de ti; que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, y no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al quemadero. (Geenna )
And if thy right hand causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body go into hell. (Geenna )
Y si tu mano derecha te fuere ocasión de caer, córtala, y échala de ti; que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, y no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al quemadero. (Geenna )
And be not afraid of them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna )
Y no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, mas al alma no pueden matar; temed antes a aquel que puede destruir el alma y el cuerpo en el quemadero. (Geenna )
And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt go down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs )
Y tú, Capernaum, que eres levantada hasta el cielo, hasta los infiernos serás abajada; porque si en los de Sodoma fueran hechas las maravillas que han sido hechas en ti, hubiera quedado hasta el día de hoy. (Hadēs )
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come. (aiōn )
Y cualquiera que hablare contra el Hijo del hombre, le será perdonado; mas cualquiera que hablare contra el Espíritu Santo, no le será perdonado, ni en este siglo, ni en el venidero. (aiōn )
And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (aiōn )
Y el que fue sembrado entre espinos, éste es el que oye la Palabra; pero la congoja de este siglo y el engaño de las riquezas, ahogan la Palabra, y se hace infructuosa. (aiōn )
and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. (aiōn )
y el enemigo que la sembró, es el diablo; y la siega es el fin del siglo, y los segadores son los ángeles. (aiōn )
As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. (aiōn )
De manera que como es cogida la cizaña, y quemada al fuego, así será en el fin de este siglo. (aiōn )
So shall it be in the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the righteous, (aiōn )
Así será al fin del siglo: saldrán los ángeles, y apartarán a los malos de entre los justos, (aiōn )
And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs )
Mas yo también te digo, que tú eres Pedro una piedra pequeña, y sobre la piedra grande edificaré mi Iglesia; y las puertas del infierno no prevalecerán contra ella. (Hadēs )
And if thy hand or thy foot causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed or halt, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire. (aiōnios )
Por tanto, si tu mano o tu pie te fuere ocasión de caer, córtalos y echalos de ti; mejor te es entrar cojo o manco a la vida, que teniendo dos manos o dos pies ser echado al fuego eterno. (aiōnios )
And if thine eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire. (Geenna )
Y si tu ojo te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo y échalo de ti; que mejor te es entrar con un ojo a la vida, que teniendo dos ojos ser echado al quemadero del fuego. (Geenna )
And behold, one came to him and said, Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios )
Y he aquí, uno llegándose le dijo: Maestro bueno, ¿qué bien haré para tener la vida eterna? (aiōnios )
And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life. (aiōnios )
Y cualquiera que dejare casas, o hermanos, o hermanas, o padre, o madre, o mujer, o hijos, o tierras, por mi nombre, recibirá cien veces tanto, y la vida eterna tendrá por heredad. (aiōnios )
And seeing a fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only; and he saith unto it, Let there be no fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away. (aiōn )
Y viendo una higuera sobre el camino, vino a ella, y no halló nada en ella, sino hojas solamente, y le dijo: Nunca más para siempre nazca de ti fruto. Y luego se secó la higuera. (aiōn )
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is become so, ye make him twofold more a son of hell than yourselves. (Geenna )
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque rodeáis el mar y la tierra por hacer un prosélito; y cuando fuere hecho, le hacéis hijo del quemadero dos veces más que vosotros. (Geenna )
Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how shall ye escape the judgment of hell? (Geenna )
¡Serpientes, generación de víboras! ¿Cómo evitaréis el juicio del quemadero? (Geenna )
And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (aiōn )
Y sentándose él en el Monte de las Olivas, se llegaron a él los discípulos aparte, diciendo: Dinos, ¿cuándo serán estas cosas, y qué señal habrá de tu venida, y del fin del siglo? (aiōn )
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels: (aiōnios )
Entonces dirá también a los que estarán a la izquierda: Apartaos de mí, malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y para sus ángeles; (aiōnios )
And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life. (aiōnios )
E irán éstos al tormento eterno, y los justos a la vida eterna. (aiōnios )
teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. (aiōn )
enseñándoles que guarden todas las cosas que os he mandado; y he aquí, yo estoy con vosotros todos los días, hasta el fin del siglo. Amén. (aiōn )
but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin: (aiōn , aiōnios )
mas cualquiera que blasfemare contra el Espíritu Santo, no tiene jamás perdón; mas está obligado a eterno juicio. (aiōn , aiōnios )
and the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn )

And his lord commended the unrighteous steward because he had done wisely: for the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of the light. (aiōn )

Howbeit we speak wisdom among the perfect: yet a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, which are coming to nought: (aiōn )

Let no man deceive himself. If any man thinketh that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise. (aiōn )

Wherefore, if meat maketh my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I make not my brother to stumble. (aiōn )

And there shall be night no more; and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. (aiōn )
