Psalms 82

1 A psalm of Asaph. God has taken his stand in the divine assembly: in the midst of the gods he holds judgment.

Psaume d’Assaph. Dieu se tient dans l’assemblée divine; au milieu des juges, il juge.

2 ‘How long will you crookedly judge, and favour the wicked? (Selah)

Jusqu’à quand jugerez-vous avec iniquité, et prendrez-vous parti pour les méchants? (Sélah)

3 Do right by the weak and the orphan, acquit the innocent poor.

Rendez justice au faible, à l’orphelin, proclamez le droit du pauvre, du nécessiteux!

4 Rescue the weak and the needy, save them from the hand of the wicked.

Assurez le salut du faible, de l’indigent, délivrez-les de la main du méchant!

5 ‘They have neither knowledge nor insight, in darkness they walk to and fro, while the earth’s foundations totter.

Ils ne savent ni ne comprennent, ils s’avancent dans les ténèbres: tous les fondements de la terre sont ébranlés.

6 It was I who appointed you gods, children of the Most High all of you.

J’Avais dit, moi: "Vous êtes des dieux; tous, des fils du Très-Haut!"

7 Yet like mortals you will surely die, you will fall like any prince.’

Mais non, vous mourrez comme des hommes, comme l’un des princes vous tomberez!

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all nations are yours by inheritance.

Lève-toi, ô Dieu, fais passer la terre en jugement, car c’est toi qui es le maître de tous les peuples.
