< Psalms 55 >

1 For the leader. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David. Listen, God, to my prayer. Don’t hide yourself from my pleading.
E HALIU mai i ka pepeiao i ka'u pule, e ke Akua, Mai hoonalo ia oe iho mai ka'u nonoi ana aku.
2 Hear me, and answer; for bitter is my lament.
E nana mai ia'u a e hoolohe mai ia'u; Ke u nei au i ko'u manao ana, me ka auwe;
3 I am wild with the noise of the foe, with the clamour of the ungodly; for they hurl disaster upon me, and attack me with fury.
No ka leo o ka enemi, No ka hooluhi hewa ana mai o ka mea hewa: No ka mea, ua hooili mai lakou i ka hewa maluna o'u, A i ka ukiuki ua inaina mai lakou ia'u.
4 My heart shudders within me, terrors of deaths press on me,
Ua ehaeha loa ko'u naau iloko o'u; A ua haule mai ko ka make mau mea weliweli maluna o'u.
5 fear and trembling attack me, and horror wraps me round.
Ua kau mai maluna o'u ka makau a me ka haalulu; Ua popoiia mai au e ka weliweli.
6 O for the wings of a dove: I would fly away and rest.
A olelo iho la au, Owai ka mea e haawi ia'u i mau eheu me he manu nunu la? E lele aku au i kahi e, a e hoomaha iho.
7 I would wander far away, find refuge in the wilderness. (Selah)
Aia hoi e hele kaawale loa aku au, A e noho ma ka waonahele. (Sila)
8 I would find myself a shelter from raging wind and tempest.
Alaila e hoolalelale au i kuu pakele ana, I ka makani nui o ka ino.
9 Confuse them, Lord, upset their plans; for I see violence and strife in the city.
E hookae, e Iehova, a hoomokuahana i ka lakou mau alelo: No ka mea, ua ike au i ka hooluhi wale a me ka hakaka ana malok'o o ke kulanakauhale.
10 By day and by night they make their rounds on the city walls, while within is crime and trouble,
I ke ao, a me ka po, i holoholo ai lakou maluna o kona mau pa; He kolohe, a he pioloke ka iwaena konu ona.
11 within is ruin. Her market-place is never free of deceit and tyranny.
Iwaena konu ona ka hana hewa ana; Aole haalele ka hoopunipuni a me ka wahahee i kona mau alanui.
12 The taunts were not those of a foe that I could have borne; the disdain was not that of an enemy I could have shunned them:
No ka mea, aole he enemi, ka i hoino mai ia'u; Ina pela hiki no ia'u ke hoomanawanui: Aole ka mea inaina mai ia'u ka i hookiekie ku e mai ia'u; Ilaila i pee aku ai au mai ona aku la:
13 but it was you, my equal, my dear and familiar friend.
Aka, o oe no ia, he kanaka e ku like ana me au, Ka'u punahele, a o ko'u hoalauna hoi.
14 We used to be so close, together we walked in God’s house with the crowd.
Ua kamailio oluolu pu kaua, A ua hele pu i ka hale o ke Akua me ka lehulehu.
15 May death suddenly take them, may they go down to Sheol alive, for evil lives in their homes and their hearts. (Sheol h7585)
E lalau mai ka make ia lakou, E iho koke lakou ilalo i ka malu o ka make; No ka mea, he hewa ko loko o ko lakou mau hale, a iwaena o lakou. (Sheol h7585)
16 But I will call on God, the Lord will save me.
Aka, owau nei la, e kahea aku au i ke Akua; A e hoola mai no o Iehova ia'u.
17 Evening and morning and noon I lament and moan. He will hear my voice;
I ke ahiahi, i ke kakahiaka, i ke awakea, e pule aku ai au, A e kahea nui aku au; a e hoolohe mai oia i ko'u leo.
18 though I am attacked by many he will rescue me, unharmed from the war.
Me ka maluhia e hoopakele oia i ko'u uhane i ke kaua mai ia'u; No ka mea, ua nui ka poe me au.
19 God, who sits on his ancient throne will hear and will humble them, for they never change, they never fear God. (Selah)
E hoolohe mai no ke Akua, a e hoohaahaa ia lakou, O ka mea mai kahiko mai. (Sila) No ka mea, aohe o lakou luli ana; Nolaila, aole o lakou makau i ke Akua.
20 My friend turned against me, betrayed his word.
Ua kikoo oia i kona lima i ka mea e kuikahi ana me ia; Ua uhai oia i kana berita.
21 His mouth was smoother than butter, but war filled his heart. His words were softer than oil, but sharper than swords.
Ua oi aku ka pahee o kana mau olelo mamua o ko ka bata, Aka, he kaua ko loko o kona naau: Ua oi aku ka oluolu o kana mau olelo i ko ka aila; Aka, he mau pahikaua unuhiia lakou.
22 Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never let the righteous be shaken.
E waiho aku i kau mea kaumaha maluna o Iehova, A e Kokua mai oia ia oe: Aole loa ia e waiho mai i ka mea pono e hoonauweia.
23 But you, God, will hurl them down to the deepest pit. Bloody and treacherous people will not live out half their days; but I will trust you.
Aka, e ke Akua, e hoohaahaa iho oe ia lakou i ka lua o ka make: O na kanaka koko a me ka hoopunipuni, aole lakou e ola a pau ka hapalua o ko lakou mau la; Aka, e hilinai aku au ia oe.
