Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. As a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he doesn’t open his mouth.

وَأَمَّا فَصْلُ ٱلْكِتَابِ ٱلَّذِي كَانَ يَقْرَأُهُ فَكَانَ هَذَا: «مِثْلَ شَاةٍ سِيقَ إِلَى ٱلذَّبْحِ، وَمِثْلَ خَرُوفٍ صَامِتٍ أَمَامَ ٱلَّذِي يَجُزُّهُ هَكَذَا لَمْ يَفْتَحْ فَاهُ.
وَكَانَ الْخَصِيُّ قَدْ وَصَلَ فِي فَصْلِ الْكِتَابِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُهُ إِلَى الْقَوْلِ: «مِثْلَ شَاةٍ سِيقَ إِلَى الذَّبْحِ، وَمِثْلَ الْحَمَلِ الصَّامِتِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ مَنْ يَجُزُّهُ، هكَذَا لَمْ يَفْتَحْ فَاهُ!
