The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.”

| وَقَالَ رِجَالُ مَدِينَةِ أَرِيحَا لأَلِيشَعَ: «هُوَذَا الْمَدِينَةُ كَمَا تَرَى ذَاتُ مَوْقِعٍ جَيِّدٍ، أَمَّا الْمِيَاهُ فَرَدِيئَةٌ وَالأَرْضُ مُجْدِبَةٌ». |
এদিন নগৰৰ লোকসকলে ইলীচাক ক’লে, “মহাশয়, আপুনিতো দেখিছেই যে এক সুন্দৰ অৱস্থানত এই নগৰখন আছে। কিন্তু ইয়াৰ পানী বিশুদ্ধ নহয় আৰু ভূমিয়েও ভাল শস্য উৎপন্ন নকৰে।”

Then the leaders of [Jericho] city came to talk with Elisha. One of them said, “Our master, we have a problem. You can see that this is a very nice place [to live in]. But the water is bad, and as a result, crops will not grow on the land.”

उस नगर के निवासियों ने एलीशा से कहा, “देख, यह नगर मनभावने स्थान पर बसा है, जैसा मेरा प्रभु देखता है परन्तु पानी बुरा है; और भूमि गर्भ गिरानेवाली है।”
नगरवासियों ने एलीशा से विनती की, “हमारे स्वामी, देखिए, इस नगर की स्थिति सुखद है, यह आप भी देख रहे हैं, मगर यहां पानी सही नहीं है, साथ ही ज़मीन भी उपजाऊ नहीं है.”
