He who brought the news answered, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people. Your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and God’s ark has been captured.”

| فَأَجَابَ ٱلْمُخَبِّرُ وَقَالَ: «هَرَبَ إِسْرَائِيلُ أَمَامَ ٱلْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ وَكَانَتْ أَيْضًا كَسْرَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ فِي ٱلشَّعْبِ، وَمَاتَ أَيْضًا ٱبْنَاكَ حُفْنِي وَفِينَحَاسُ، وَأُخِذَ تَابُوتُ ٱللهِ». |
| فَأَجَابَ: «انْهَزَمَ الإِسْرَائِيلِيُّونَ أَمَامَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ، وَقُتِلَ عَدَدٌ كَبِيرٌ جِدّاً مِنَ الْجَيْشِ، وَمَاتَ أَيْضاً هُنَاكَ ابْنَاكَ حُفْنِي وَفِينْحَاسُ، وَأُخِذَ تَابُوتُ اللهِ». |
বাতৰি লৈ অহা মানুহজনে উত্তৰ দি ক’লে, “পলেষ্টীয়াসকলৰ সন্মুখৰ পৰা ইস্ৰায়েলীসকল পলাইছে আৰু আমাৰ লোকসকল পৰাজিত হ’ল৷ আপোনাৰ দুজন পুত্ৰ হফনী আৰু পীনহচৰো মৃত্যু হ’ল, আৰু ঈশ্বৰৰ নিয়ম-চন্দুক শত্ৰুৱে লৈ গ’ল।”

The man replied, “The Philistines defeated our Israeli army. They killed thousands of our soldiers, and the others ran away. The Philistines killed your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas. They also captured God’s sacred chest.”

જે માણસ સંદેશો લાવ્યો હતો તેણે ઉત્તર આપીને કહ્યું, “ઇઝરાયલીઓ પલિસ્તીઓ આગળથી ભાગ્યા છે. વળી ઘણાં લોકો મૃત્યુ પામ્યા છે. તારા બન્ને દીકરા, હોફની તથા ફીનહાસ, મરણ પામ્યા છે અને ઈશ્વરનો કોશ શત્રુઓ લઈ ગયા છે.
