After this thing, Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.

| وَعلَى الرَّغْمِ مِنْ تَحْذِيرِ النَّبِيِّ فَإِنَّ يَرُبْعَامَ لَمْ يَحِدْ عَنْ طَرِيقِهِ الأَثِيمَةِ، بَلْ عَادَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَكَرَّسَ كَهَنَةً لِمَعَابِدِ الْمُرْتَفَعَاتِ، اخْتَارَهُمْ مِنْ عَامَّةِ الشَّعْبِ، فَكَانَ يُكَرَّسُ كُلَّ مَنْ يَرْغَبُ أَنْ يَكُونَ كَاهِناً لِهَذِهِ الْمُرْتَفَعَاتِ. |

આ ઘટના પછી પણ યરોબામે પોતાના દુષ્ટ માર્ગો છોડ્યા નહિ. પણ તેણે ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો માટે સર્વ લોકોમાંથી યાજકો ઠરાવવાનું ચાલુ રાખ્યું. જે કોઈ યાજક થવા તૈયાર થતો તેને તે ઉચ્ચસ્થાનનો યાજક ઠરાવતો.
