< Judges 21 >

1 Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli ti búra ní Mispa pé, “Kò sí ẹnìkan nínú wa tí yóò fi ọmọ obìnrin rẹ̀ fún ẹ̀yà Benjamini ní ìyàwó.”
Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpah, saying, “None of us will give his daughter to Benjamin as a wife.”
2 Àwọn ènìyàn náà lọ sí Beteli: ilé Ọlọ́run, níbi tí wọ́n jókòó níwájú Ọlọ́run títí di àṣálẹ́, wọ́n gbé ohùn wọn sókè, wọ́n sì sọkún kíkorò.
The people came to Bethel and sat there until evening before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept severely.
3 Wọ́n sọkún wí pé, “Háà! Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, èéṣe tí nǹkan yìí fi ṣẹlẹ̀ sí Israẹli? Èéṣe tí ẹ̀yà kan yóò fi run nínú Israẹli lónìí?”
They said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, why has this happened in Israel, that there should be one tribe lacking in Israel today?”
4 Ní òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì àwọn ènìyàn náà mọ pẹpẹ kan wọ́n sì rú ẹbọ sísun àti ọrẹ àlàáfíà.
On the next day, the people rose early and built an altar there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
5 Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì béèrè wí pé, “Èwo nínú ẹ̀yà Israẹli ni ó kọ̀ láti péjọ síwájú Olúwa?” Torí pé wọ́n ti fi ìbúra ńlá búra pé, ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá kọ̀ láti péjọ níwájú Olúwa ní Mispa pípa ni àwọn yóò pa á.
The children of Israel said, “Who is there among all the tribes of Israel who didn’t come up in the assembly to the LORD?” For they had made a great oath concerning him who didn’t come up to the LORD to Mizpah, saying, “He shall surely be put to death.”
6 Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì banújẹ́ fún àwọn arákùnrin wọn, àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini. Wọ́n wí pé, “A ti ké ẹ̀yà kan kúrò lára Israẹli lónìí.”
The children of Israel grieved for Benjamin their brother, and said, “There is one tribe cut off from Israel today.
7 Báwo ni a yóò ṣe rí aya fún àwọn tí ó ṣẹ́kù, nítorí àwa ti fi Olúwa búra láti má fi ọ̀kankan nínú àwọn ọmọbìnrin wa fún wọn ní aya.
How shall we provide wives for those who remain, since we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?”
8 Wọ́n sì béèrè wí pé, “Èwo ni nínú ẹ̀yà Israẹli ni ó kọ̀ láti bá àwọn ènìyàn péjọ níwájú Olúwa ní Mispa?” Wọ́n rí i pé kò sí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó wa láti Jabesi Gileadi tí ó wá sí ibùdó fún àjọ náà.
They said, “What one is there of the tribes of Israel who didn’t come up to the LORD to Mizpah?” Behold, no one came from Jabesh Gilead to the camp to the assembly.
9 Nítorí pé nígbà tí wọ́n ka àwọn ènìyàn, wọ́n rí i pé kò sí ẹnìkankan láti inú àwọn ará Jabesi Gileadi tí ó wà níbẹ̀.
For when the people were counted, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead there.
10 Àwọn ìjọ ènìyàn náà sì rán ẹgbàá mẹ́fà àwọn jagunjagun ọkùnrin, lọ sí Jabesi Gileadi wọ́n fún wọn ní àṣẹ pé, ẹ lọ fi idà kọlu gbogbo àwọn tí ó wà níbẹ̀, pẹ̀lú àwọn obìnrin àti àwọn ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́.
The congregation sent twelve thousand of the most valiant men there, and commanded them, saying, “Go and strike the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the little ones.
11 Wọ́n ní, “Èyí ni ẹ̀yin yóò ṣe, ẹ pa gbogbo ọkùnrin àti gbogbo obìnrin tí kì í ṣe wúńdíá.”
This is the thing that you shall do: you shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman who has lain with a man.”
12 Wọ́n rí àwọn irinwó ọ̀dọ́bìnrin tí kò mọ ọkùnrin rí nínú àwọn olùgbé Jabesi Gileadi, wọ́n sì mú wọn lọ sí ibùdó ní Ṣilo àwọn ará Kenaani.
They found among the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead four hundred young virgins who had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them to the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.
13 Gbogbo ìjọ àwọn ènìyàn sì ránṣẹ́ àlàáfíà sí àwọn Benjamini ní ihò àpáta Rimoni.
The whole congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin who were in the rock of Rimmon, and proclaimed peace to them.
14 Àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini náà sì padà ní àkókò náà, wọ́n sì fún wọn ní àwọn obìnrin Jabesi Gileadi. Ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò kárí gbogbo wọn.
Benjamin returned at that time; and they gave them the women whom they had saved alive of the women of Jabesh Gilead. There still weren’t enough for them.
15 Àwọn ènìyàn náà sì káàánú nítorí ẹ̀yà Benjamini, nítorí Olúwa fi àlàfo kan sílẹ̀ nínú àwọn ẹ̀yà Israẹli.
The people grieved for Benjamin, because the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
16 Àwọn olórí ìjọ àwọn ènìyàn náà wí pé, “Kí ni àwa yóò ṣe láti rí aya fún àwọn ọkùnrin tí ó kù nígbà tí a ti pa gbogbo àwọn obìnrin Benjamini run?”
Then the elders of the congregation said, “How shall we provide wives for those who remain, since the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?”
17 Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Àwọn tí ó ṣẹ́kù tí wọ́n là nínú àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini ní láti ní ogún àti àrólé, kí ẹ̀yà kan nínú Israẹli má ṣe di píparun kúrò ní orí ilẹ̀.
They said, “There must be an inheritance for those who are escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe not be blotted out from Israel.
18 Àwa kò le fi àwọn ọmọbìnrin wa fún wọn ní aya, nítorí tí àwa ọmọ Israẹli ti ṣe ìbúra yìí pé, ‘Ègún ni fún ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó fi aya fún ẹnikẹ́ni nínú ẹ̀yà Benjamini.’”
However, we may not give them wives of our daughters, for the children of Israel had sworn, saying, ‘Cursed is he who gives a wife to Benjamin.’”
19 Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Kíyèsi i ayẹyẹ ọlọ́dọọdún fún Olúwa wà ní Ṣilo ní ìhà àríwá Beteli àti ìhà ìlà-oòrùn òpópó náà tí ó gba Beteli kọjá sí Ṣekemu, àti sí ìhà gúúsù Lebona.”
They said, “Behold, there is a feast of the LORD from year to year in Shiloh, which is on the north of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goes up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.”
20 Wọ́n sì fi àṣẹ fún àwọn ará Benjamini pé, “Ẹ lọ kí ẹ sì fi ara pamọ́ nínú àwọn ọgbà àjàrà
They commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, “Go and lie in wait in the vineyards,

and see, and behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in the dances, then come out of the vineyards, and each man catch his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.
22 Nígbà tí àwọn baba wọn tàbí àwọn arákùnrin wọn bá fi ẹjọ́ sùn wá, àwa yóò wí fún wọn pé, ‘Ẹ ṣe wá ní oore nípa ríràn wọ́n lọ́wọ́, nítorí àwa kò rí aya fún wọn ní àkókò ogun, ẹ̀yin kò sì ní jẹ̀bi, nítorí pé ẹ̀yin kọ́ ni ó fi àwọn ọmọbìnrin yín fún wọn bí aya.’”
It shall be, when their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, that we will say to them, ‘Grant them graciously to us, because we didn’t take for each man his wife in battle, neither did you give them to them; otherwise you would now be guilty.’”
23 Èyí sì ni ohun tí àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini ṣe. Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọbìnrin náà ń jó lọ́wọ́, ọkùnrin kọ̀ọ̀kan mú ọmọbìnrin kọ̀ọ̀kan, wọ́n sì gbé e lọ láti di aya rẹ̀. Wọ́n sì padà sí ilẹ̀ ìní wọn, wọ́n sì tún àwọn ìlú náà kọ́, wọ́n sì tẹ̀dó sínú wọn.
The children of Benjamin did so, and took wives for themselves according to their number, of those who danced, whom they carried off. They went and returned to their inheritance, built the cities, and lived in them.
24 Ní àkókò náà, àwọn ọmọ Israẹli kúrò ní ibẹ̀, wọ́n lọ sí ilé àti ẹ̀yà rẹ̀ olúkúlùkù sí ilẹ̀ ìní rẹ̀.
The children of Israel departed from there at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they each went out from there to his own inheritance.
25 Ní àwọn ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí, kò sí ọba ní ilẹ̀ Israẹli; olúkúlùkù sì ń ṣe bí ó ti tọ́ ní ojú ara rẹ̀.
In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did that which was right in his own eyes.
