I Sa-mu-ên 28
1 Về lối nầy, dân Phi-li-tin hiệp với các cơ binh làm một đạo đặng giao chiến cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên. A-kích nói cùng Đa-vít rằng: Ngươi phải biết rằng ngươi và những kẻ theo ngươi sẽ đi ra trận cùng ta.
Nowe at that time the Philistims assembled their bandes and armie to fight with Israel: therfore Achish said to Dauid, Be sure, thou shalt go out with me to the battel, thou, and thy men.
2 Đa-vít đáp cùng A-kích rằng: Vua sẽ thấy điều tôi tớ vua làm. A-kích nói cùng Đa-vít rằng: Thế thì, ta sẽ lập ngươi làm thị vệ ta luôn luôn.
And Dauid said to Achish, Surely thou shalt knowe, what thy seruant can doe. And Achish sayde to Dauid, Surely I will make thee keeper of mine head for euer.
3 Vả, Sa-mu-ên đã qua đời; cả Y-sơ-ra-ên để tang cho người, và người ta chôn người tại Ra-ma, thành của người. Sau-lơ đã trừ khỏi xứ những đồng cốt và những thầy tà thuật.
(Samuel was then dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah his owne citie: and Saul had put away the sorcerers, and the soothsayers out of the land)
4 Vậy, dân Phi-li-tin nhóm hiệp, đến đóng trại nơi Su-nem. Còn Sau-lơ cũng hiệp hết thảy Y-sơ-ra-ên, và chúng đóng trại tại Ghinh-bô-a.
Then the Philistims assembled themselues, and came, and pitched in Shunem: and Saul assembled all Israel, and they pitched in Gilboa.
5 Nhưng khi Sau-lơ thấy trại quân Phi-li-tin, thì sợ và lòng rung động lắm.
And when Saul saw the hoste of the Philistims, he was afraid, and his heart was sore astonied.
6 Người cầu vấn Đức Giê-hô-va; song Đức Giê-hô-va không đáp lời, hoặc bằng chiêm bao, hoặc bằng u-rim, hay là bởi các đấng tiên tri.
Therefore Saul asked counsel of the Lord, and the Lord answered him not, neither by dreames, nor by Vrim, nor yet by Prophets.
7 Sau-lơ nói cùng các tôi tớ mình rằng: Hãy kiếm cho ta một người đàn bà biết cầu vong; ta sẽ đi đến người mà cầu vấn. Các tôi tớ thưa rằng: Tại Eân-đô-rơ có một người đàn bà cầu vong,
Then saide Saul vnto his seruants, Seeke me a woman that hath a familiar spirite, that I may goe to her, and aske of her. And his seruants said to him, Beholde, there is a woman at En-dor that hath a familiar spirit.
8 Sau-lơ giả dạng mặc những áo khác, đi đem theo hai người, rồi đến nhà người đàn bà nầy lúc ban đêm. Sau-lơ nói: Xin ngươi hãy cầu vong mà bói cho ta, và hãy vời lên kẻ ta sẽ chỉ cho ngươi.
Then Saul changed him selfe, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he saide, I pray thee, coniecture vnto me by the familiar spirite, and bring me him vp whome I shall name vnto thee.
9 Người đàn bà đáp rằng: Oâng biết rõ điều Sau-lơ đã làm, thể nào người trừ khỏi xứ những đồng-cốt và thầy tà thuật. Vậy, cớ sao ông lại gài bẫy đặng giết tôi?
And the woman saide vnto him, Beholde, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath destroyed the sorcerers, and the southsayers out of the land: wherefore then seekest thou to take me in a snare to cause me to die?
10 Sau-lơ chỉ Đức Giê-hô-va thề cùng người rằng: Ta chỉ Đức Giê-hô-va hằng sống mà thề, sẽ chẳng xảy đến cho ngươi một điều hại chi về việc nầy đâu!
And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liueth, no harme shall come to thee for this thing.
11 Bấy giờ, người đàn bà nói: Tôi phải cầu ai trước mặt ông? Sau-lơ đáp: Hãy cầu Sa-mu-ên.
Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring vp vnto thee? And he answered, Bring me vp Samuel.
12 Khi người đàn bà thấy Sa-mu-ên, bèn la tiếng lớn nói cùng Sau-lơ rằng: Cớ sao ông gạt tôi? Oâng là Sau-lơ!
And when the woman sawe Samuel, she cryed with a loude voyce, and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceiued me? for thou art Saul.
13 Vua đáp cùng người rằng: Chớ sợ; nhưng ngươi thấy chi? Người đáp: Tôi thấy một vì thần ở dưới đất lên.
And the King said vnto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said vnto Saul, I saw gods ascending vp out of the earth.
14 Vua hỏi: Mặt mày ra sao? Người đáp: Aáy là một ông già ở dưới lên, mặc một cái áo tơi. Sau-lơ hiểu là Sa-mu-ên, bèn cúi đầu, sấp mình xuống đất và lạy.
Then he said vnto her, What facion is hee of? And she answered, An olde man commeth vp lapped in a mantel: and Saul knewe that it was Samuel, and he enclined his face to the grounde, and bowed him selfe.
15 Sa-mu-ên hỏi Sau-lơ rằng: Nhân sao ngươi quấy sự yên tịnh ta mà gọi ta lên? Sau-lơ đáp: Tôi bị hoạn nạn lớn; vì dân Phi-li-tin tranh chiến với tôi, và Đức Chúa Trời đã lìa khỏi tôi. Ngài không trả lời cho tôi, hoặc bởi các đấng tiên tri, hoặc bởi chiêm bao. Vậy, tôi đã vời ông lên, để ông bảo cho tôi biết điều tôi phải làm.
And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me vp? Then Saul answered, I am in great distresse: for the Philistims make warre against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by Prophetes, neither by dreames: therefore I haue called thee, that thou mayest tell me, what I shall doe.
16 Sa-mu-ên đáp: Nhân sao ngươi cầu vấn ta, bởi vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã lìa khỏi ngươi và trở nên thù nghịch ngươi?
Then said Samuel, Wherefore then doest thou aske of me, seeing the Lord is gone from thee, and is thine enemie?
17 Đức Giê-hô-va làm y như Ngài đã phán bởi miệng ta. Đức Giê-hô-va đoạt lấy nước khỏi tay ngươi mà ban cho kẻ lân cận ngươi là Đa-vít.
Euen the Lord hath done to him, as hee spake by mine hande: for the Lord will rent the kingdome out of thine hande, and giue it thy neighbour Dauid.
18 Ngươi không vâng theo lời phán của Đức Giê-hô-va và không làm cho A-ma-léc cảm biết cơn giận phừng của Ngài; vì cớ đó nên ngày nay Đức Giê-hô-va đãi ngươi cách nầy.
Because thou obeyedst not the voyce of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath vpon the Amalekites, therefore hath the Lord done this vnto thee this day.
19 Vả lại, Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ phó Y-sơ-ra-ên và ngươi vào tay dân Phi-li-tin. Ngày mai ngươi và các con trai ngươi sẽ ở một nơi với ta. Đức Giê-hô-va cũng sẽ phó đạo binh Y-sơ-ra-ên vào tay dân Phi-li-tin.
Moreouer the Lord wil deliuer Israel with thee into the handes of the Philistims: and to morowe shalt thou and thy sonnes be with me, and the Lord shall giue the hoste of Israel into the handes of the Philistims.
20 Sau-lơ liền té nằm dài xuống đất, vì các lời của Sa-mu-ên khiến người sợ hoảng; và lại, người đã kiệt sức, bởi trọn ngày và đêm đó người không có ăn chi.
Then Saul fell streight way all along on the earth, and was sore afraide because of the wordes of Samuel, so that there was no strength in him: for he had eaten no bread all the day nor all the night.
21 Bấy giờ, người đàn bà đó đến gần Sau-lơ, thấy người bối rối, bèn nói rằng: Nầy con đòi vua đã vâng theo tiếng vua. Tôi đã liều mạng mình đặng vâng theo các lời vua dạy.
Then the woman came vnto Saul, and sawe that he was sore troubled, and said vnto him, See, thine handmaide hath obeyed thy voyce, and I haue put my soule in mine hande, and haue obeyed thy wordes which thou saydest vnto me.
22 Vậy bây giờ, vua cũng hãy nghe lời của con đòi vua: Tôi xin đặt trước mặt vua một miếng bánh, để vua ăn bổ sức, đặng lên đường.
Now therefore, I pray thee, hearke thou also vnto ye voyce of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsell of bread before thee, that thou mayest eat and get thee strength, and go on thy iourney.
23 Sau-lơ từ chối mà rằng: Ta không ăn. Nhưng các đầy tớ người và người đàn bà ép nài quá đến đỗi người phải xuôi theo lời chúng; người bèn chổi dậy khỏi đất và ngồi trên giường.
But he refused, and said, I will not eate: but his seruants and the woman together compelled him, and he obeyed their voyce: so he arose from the earth, and sate on the bed.
24 Người đàn bà ấy có một con bò con mập, bèn lật đật giết nó; đoạn lấy bột mì nhồi và làm bánh không men,
Nowe the woman had a fat calfe in the house, and she hasted, and killed it, and tooke floure and kneaded it, and baked of it vnleauened bread.
25 để trước mặt Sau-lơ và các đầy tớ người. Aên xong, chúng trổi dậy và đi nội đêm đó.
Then she brought them before Saul, and before his seruants: and when they had eaten, they stoode, and went away the same night.
