Giô-sua 3
1 Giô-suê dậy sớm, ở Si-tim đi cùng hết thảy dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, đến mé sông Giô-đanh, và ngủ đêm tại đó trước khi qua sông.
Then Ioshua rose very earely, and they remoued from Shittim, and came to Iorden, he, and all the children of Israel, and lodged there, before they went ouer.
2 Cuối ba ngày, các quan trưởng đi khắp trại quân
And after three dayes the officers went throughout the hoste,
3 truyền lịnh này cho dân sự rằng: Khi các ngươi thấy những thầy tế lễ về dòng Lê-vi khiêng hòm giao ước của Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời các ngươi, thì phải bỏ chỗ đóng trại mình mà đi theo sau.
And commanded the people, saying, When ye see the Arke of the couenat of the Lord your God, and the Priestes of the Leuites bearing it, ye shall depart from your place, and goe after it.
4 Song le giữa khoảng các ngươi và hòm giao ước phải cách chừng hai ngàn thước; chớ đến gần, hầu cho các ngươi có thế biết đường mình phải đi theo; vì các ngươi chưa hề đi đường này bao giờ.
Yet there shalbe a space betweene you and it, about two thousande cubites by measure: ye shall not come neere vnto it, that ye may knowe the way, by the which ye shall goe: for ye haue not gone this way in times past.
5 Giô-suê cũng nói cùng dân sự rằng: Hãy làm cho mình ra thánh, vì ngày mai Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ làm những việc lạ lùng giữa các ngươi.
(Nowe Ioshua had saide vnto the people, Sanctifie your selues: for to morowe the Lord will doe wonders among you)
6 Ðoạn, Giô-suê nói cùng những thầy tế lễ rằng: Hãy khiêng hòm giao ước đi qua trước dân sự. Vậy, những thầy tế lễ khiêng hòm giao ước và đi đầu dân sự.
Also Ioshua spake vnto the Priestes, saying, Take vp the Arke of the couenant, and goe ouer before the people: so they tooke vp the Arke of the couenant, and went before the people.
7 Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Giô-suê rằng: Ngày nay ta khởi tôn ngươi lên trước mặt cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, để chúng nó biết rằng ta sẽ ở cùng ngươi như ta đã ở cùng Môi-se vậy.
Then the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, This day will I begin to magnifie thee in the sight of all Israel, which shall knowe, that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.
8 Ngươi phải truyền lịnh này cho những thầy tế lễ khiêng hòm giao ước: Khi nào các ngươi đến mé sông Giô-đanh, thì hãy dừng lại tại giữa sông.
Thou shalt therefore command the Priests that beare the Arke of the Couenant, saying, When ye are come to the brinke of the waters of Iorden, ye shall stande still in Iorden.
9 Giô-suê bèn nói cùng dân Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Hãy lại gần, nghe lời của Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời các ngươi.
Then Ioshua said vnto the children of Israel, Come hither, and heare the wordes of the Lord your God.
10 Ðoạn, người nói: Nhờ điều này các ngươi sẽ biết rằng Ðức Chúa Trời hằng sống ngự giữa các ngươi, và Ngài sẽ đuổi khỏi trước mặt các ngươi dân Ca-na-an, dân Hê-tít, dân Hê-vít, dân Phê-rê-sít, dân A-mô-rít, và dân Giê-bu-sít.
And Ioshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the liuing God is among you, and that he will certainely cast out before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hiuites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Iebusites.
11 Này, hòm giao ước của Chúa cả thế gian đi trước các ngươi vào sông Giô-đanh.
Beholde, the Arke of the couenant of the Lord of all the worlde passeth before you into Iorden.
12 Vậy, hãy chọn mười hai người của các chi phái Y-sơ-ra-ên, mỗi chi phái một người;
Nowe therefore take from among you twelue men out of the tribes of Israel, out of euery tribe a man.
13 và khi những thầy tế lễ khiêng hòm giao ước của Ðức Giê-hô-va, là Chúa cả thế gian, mới để bàn chơn mình dưới nước sông Giô-đanh, thì nước của sông, tức nước từ nguồn chảy xuống, sẽ chia ra, và dồn lại thành một đống.
And assoone as the soles of the feete of the Priestes (that beare the Arke of the Lord God the Lord of all the worlde) shall stay in the waters of Iorden, the waters of Iorden shall be cut off: for the waters that come from aboue, shall stande still vpon an heape.
14 Khi dân sự bỏ các trại mình đặng đi qua sông Giô-đanh, thì những thầy tế lễ khiêng hòm giao ước ở trước mặt dân sự.
Then when the people were departed from their tentes to goe ouer Iorden, the Priestes bearing the Arke of the Couenant, went before people.
15 Vả trọn lúc mùa gặt, sông Giô-đanh tràn lên khỏi bờ. Khi các người khiêng hòm đến sông Giô-đanh, và chơn của những thầy tế lễ khiêng hòm mới bị ướt nơi mé nước,
And as they that bare the Arke came vnto Iorden, and the feete of the Priestes that bare the Arke were dipped in the brinke of the water, (for Iorden vseth to fill all his bankes all the time of haruest)
16 thì nước ở trên nguồn thường chảy xuống bèn dừng lại, dồn thành một đống, xa ra một khoảng đến thành A-đam, là thành ở bên cạnh Xát-than; còn nước chảy đến biển đồng bằng, tức Biển mặn, đã rẽ đoạn ra; rồi dân sự đi qua đối ngang Giê-ri-cô.
Then the waters that came downe from aboue, stayed and rose vpon an heape and departed farre from the citie of Adam, that was beside Zaretan: but the waters that came downe towarde the Sea of the wildernes, euen the salt Sea, failed, and were cut off: so the people went right ouer against Iericho.
17 Những thầy tế lễ khiêng hòm giao ước của Ðức Giê-hô-va dừng chơn vững trên đất khô giữa sông Giô-đanh trong khi cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đi qua trên đất khô, cho đến chừng cả dân đã qua khỏi sông Giô-đanh rồi.
But the Priestes that bare the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, stoode drie within Iorden readie prepared, and all the Israelites went ouer dry, vntill all the people were gone cleane ouer through Iorden.
