Gióp 11

1 Sô-pha, người Na-a-ma, đáp lại, mà rằng:

Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,

2 Há chẳng nên đáp lại lời nói nhiều sao? Người già miệng há sẽ được xưng là công bình ư?

“Should not such a multitude of words be answered? Should this man, so full of talk, be believed?

3 Chớ thì các lời khoe khoang của ông khiến người ta nín sao? Khi ông nhạo báng, há không có ai bỉ mặt ông ư?

Should your boasting make others remain silent? When you mock, will no one make you feel ashamed?

4 Vì ông thưa cùng Ðức Chúa Trời rằng: Ðạo lý tôi là thanh tịnh; Tôi không nhơ bợn trước mặt Chúa.

For you say to God, 'My beliefs are pure, I am blameless in your eyes.'

5 À! Chớ gì đẹp lòng Ðức Chúa Trời mà phán, Và mở miệng Ngài đáp lời nghịch cùng ông,

But, oh, that God would speak and open his lips against you;

6 Ước chi Ngài chỉ tỏ cho ông biết sự bí mật của sự khôn ngoan! Vì Ngài thông hiểu bội phần. Vậy, khá biết rằng Ðức Chúa Trời phạt ông lại không xứng với tội gian ác của ông.

that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For he is great in understanding. Know then that God demands from you less than your iniquity deserves.

7 Nếu ông dò xét, há có thể hiểu biết được sự mầu nhiệm của Ðức Chúa Trời, Và thấu rõ Ðấng Toàn năng sao?

Can you understand God by searching for him? Can you comprehend the Almighty perfectly?

8 Sự ấy vốn cao bằng các từng trời: Vậy ông sẽ làm gì? Sâu hơn âm phủ: ông hiểu biết sao đặng? (Sheol h7585)

The matter is as high as heaven; what can you do? It is deeper than Sheol; what can you know? (Sheol h7585)

9 Bề dài sự ấy lại hơn cỡ trái đất, Và rộng lớn hơn biển cả.

Its measure is longer than the earth, and wider than the sea.

10 Nếu Ðức Chúa Trời đi ngang qua, bắt người ta cầm tù, Và đòi ứng hầu đoán xét, thì ai sẽ ngăn trở Ngài được?

If he passes through and shuts anyone up, if he calls anyone to judgment, then who can stop him?

11 Vì Ngài biết những người giả hình, Xem thấy tội ác mà loài người không cảm biết đến.

For he knows false people; when he sees iniquity, does he not notice it?

12 Nhưng chừng nào lừa con rừng sanh ra làm người, Thì chừng nấy người hư không mới trở nên thông sáng!

But foolish people have no understanding; they will get it when a wild donkey gives birth to a man.

13 Vậy, nếu dọn lòng cho xứng đáng, Và giơ tay mình ra hướng về Chúa;

But suppose that you had set your heart right and had reached out with your hands toward God;

14 Bằng có tội ác trong tay ông, mà ông bỏ xa khỏi mình, Chẳng để sự bất công ở trong trại mình,

suppose that iniquity were in your hand, but that then you put it far away from you, and did not let unrighteousness live in your tents.

15 Bấy giờ, ông hẳn sẽ ngước mắt lên không tì vít gì, Thật sẽ được vững vàng, chẳng sợ chi;

Then you would certainly lift up your face without a sign of shame; indeed, you would be steadfast and would not fear.

16 Ông sẽ quên các điều hoạn nạn mình, Và nhớ đến nó như nước đã chảy qua.

You would forget your misery; you would remember it only like waters that have flowed away.

17 Ðời ông sẽ sáng sủa hơn ban trưa; Dẫu nay tối tăm, sau sẽ hóa ra như buổi sáng.

Your life would be brighter than the noonday; though there were darkness, it would become like the morning.

18 Ông sẽ bình an vô sự, vì có sự trông cậy; Ông sẽ tìm tòi bốn bên, rôi nghỉ ngơi yên hàn vô sự.

You would be secure because there is hope; indeed, you would find safety about you and would take your rest in safety.

19 Lại ông sẽ nằm, không ai làm cho mình sợ hãi, Và lắm người sẽ tìm ơn của ông.

Also you would lie down in rest, and none would make you afraid; indeed, many would seek your favor.

20 Nhưng kẻ hung ác sẽ bị hao mòn; Nó chẳng có nơi ẩn núp, Và điều nó sẽ trông mong, ấy là sự tắt hơi.

But the eyes of wicked people will fail; they will have no way to flee; their only hope will be a last gasp of life.”
