Công Vụ Các Sứ đồ 1
1 Hỡi Thê-ô-phi-lơ, trong sách thứ nhứt ta, ta từng nói về mọi điều Ðức Chúa Jêsus đã làm và dạy từ ban đầu,
THE former book have I written, O Theophilus concerning all the things which our Lord Jesus Messiah began to do and teach,
2 cho đến ngày Ngài được cất lên trời, sau khi Ngài cậy Ðức Thánh Linh mà răn dạy các sứ đồ Ngài đã chọn.
until the day when he was taken up, after he had instructed those legates whom he had chosen by the Holy Spirit.
3 Sau khi chịu đau đớn rồi, thì trước mặt các sứ đồ, Ngài lấy nhiều chứng cớ tỏ ra mình là sống, và hiện đến với các sứ đồ trong bốn mươi ngày, phán bảo những sự về nước Ðức Chúa Trời.
To whom also he showed himself alive after he had suffered, by numerous signs, during forty days, while he was seen by them, and spoke of the kingdom of God.
4 Lúc ở với các sứ đồ, Ngài dặn rằng đừng ra khỏi thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, nhưng phải ở đó chờ điều Cha đã hứa, là điều các ngươi đã nghe ta nói.
And when he had eaten bread with them, he instructed them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which (said he) ye have heard from me.
5 Vì chưng Giăng đã làm phép báp-tem bằng nước, nhưng trong ít ngày, các ngươi sẽ chịu phép báp-tem bằng Ðức Thánh Linh.
For John baptized with water; but ye will be baptized with the Holy Spirit after not many days.
6 Vậy, những người nhóm tại đó thưa cùng Ngài rằng: Lạy Chúa, có phải trong lúc nầy Chúa sẽ lập lại nước Y-sơ-ra-ên chăng?
And they, when assembled, asked him and said to him: Our Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
7 Ngài đáp rằng: Kỳ hạn và ngày giờ mà Cha đã tự quyền định lấy, ấy là việc các ngươi chẳng nên biết.
He said to them: It is not yours, to know the time or times which God hath placed in his own power.
8 Nhưng khi Ðức Thánh Linh giáng trên các ngươi, thì các ngươi sẽ nhận lấy quyền phép, và làm chứng về ta tại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, cả xứ Giu-đê, xứ Sa-ma-ri, cho đến cùng trái đất.
But when the Holy Spirit shall come upon you, ye will receive energy, and will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and also among the Samaritans, and unto the ends of the earth.
9 Ngài phán bấy nhiêu lời rồi, thì được cất lên trong lúc các ngươi đó nhìn xem Ngài, có một đám mây tiếp Ngài khuất đi, không thấy nữa.
And when he had said these things, while they beheld him, he was taken up, and a cloud received him, and he was hidden from their eyes.
10 Các người đó đương ngó chăm trên trời trong lúc Ngài ngự lên, xảy có hai người nam mặc áo trắng hiện đến trước mặt,
And while they were looking toward heav, as he departed, two men were found standing near them, in white garments,
11 và nói rằng: Hỡi người Ga-li-lê, sao các ngươi đứng ngóng lên trời làm chi? Jêsus nầy đã được cất lên trời khỏi giữa các ngươi, cũng sẽ trở lại như cách các ngươi đã thấy Ngài lên trời vậy.
and saying to them: Ye Galilean men, why stand ye and look toward heaven? This Jesus, who is taken up from you to heaven, will so come, as ye have seen him ascend to heaven.
12 Bấy giờ, các người đó từ núi gọi là ô-li-ve trở về thành Giê-ru-sa-lem; núi ấy cách thành Giê-ru-sa-lem một quãng đường ước đi một ngày Sa-bát.
And afterwards they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called the place of Olives, which was near to Jerusalem, and distant from it about seven furlongs.
13 Khi đã về đến, bèn lên một cái phòng cao kia, là nơi Phi -e-rơ, Giăng, Gia-cơ, Anh-rê, Phi-líp, Thô-ma, Ba-thê-lê-my, Ma-thi -ơ, Gia-cơ con của A-phê, Si-môn Xê-lốt, và Giu-đe con của Gia-cơ thường ở.
And when they had entered, they went to an upper chamber; where were Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, and Philip, and Thomas, and Matthew, and Bartholomew, and James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the son of James.
14 Hết thảy những người đó bền lòng đồng một ý mà cầu nguyện với các người đờn bà, và Ma-ri là mẹ Ðức Chúa Jêsus cùng anh em Ngài.
All these unitedly persevered in prayer, with one soul, together with the women, and with Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
15 Trong những ngày đó, Phi -e-rơ đứng dậy giữa các anh em, số người nhóm lại ước được một trăm hai mươi người, mà nói rằng:
And in those days stood up Simon Cephas in the midst of the disciples, (the persons there assembled being about one hundred and twenty, ) and said:
16 Hỡi anh em ta, lời Ðức Thánh Linh đã nhờ miệng vua Ða-vít mà nói tiên tri trong Kinh Thánh về tên Giu-đa, là đứa đã dẫn đường cho chúng bắt Ðức Chúa Jêsus, thì phải được ứng nghiệm.
Men, brethren, it was right that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake, by the mouth of David, concerning Judas who was guide to them that apprehended Jesus.
17 Vì nó vốn thuộc về bọn ta, và đã nhận phần trong chức vụ nầy.
For he was numbered with us, and had a part in this ministry.
18 Tên đó lấy tiền thưởng của tội ác mình mà mua một đám ruộng, rồi thì nhào xuống, nứt bụng và ruột đổ ra hết.
He purchased a field with the wages of sin; and he fell upon his face on the ground, and burst in the middle, and all his entrails were poured out.
19 Sự đó cả dân thành Giê-ru-sa-lem đều biết chán, đến nỗi chúng gọi ruộng đó theo thổ âm mình là Hác-en-đa-ma, nghĩa là ruộng huyết.
And this was known to all that dwelt at Jerusalem; so that the field was called, in the language of the country, Aceldama, which is interpreted Field of Blood.
20 Trong sách Thi Thiên cũng có chép rằng: Nguyền cho chỗ ở nó trở nên hoang loạn, Chớ có ai ở đó; lại rằng: Nguyền cho có một người khác nhận lấy chức nó.
For it is written, in the book of Psalms: Let his habitation be desolate, and let no resident be in it; and let another take his service.
21 Vậy, nội những kẻ đã theo cùng chúng ta trọn lúc Ðức Chúa Jêsus đi lại giữa chúng ta,
It should therefore be, that one of these persons, who have been with us all the time that our Lord Jesus went in and out with us,
22 từ khi Giăng làm phép báp-tem cho đến ngày Ngài được cất lên khỏi giữa chúng ta, phải có một người làm chứng cùng chúng ta về sự Ngài sống lại.
commencing from the baptism of John, unto the day he was taken up from us, should be, with us, a witness of his resurrection.
23 Môn đồ cử ra hai người: Giô-sép tức là Ba-sa-ba, cũng gọi là Giúc-tu, và Ma-thia,
And they proposed two, Joseph called Barsabas, whose surname was Justus, and Matthias.
24 rồi cầu nguyện rằng: Lạy Chúa, Ngài biết lòng mọi người, xin tỏ ra cho chúng tôi nội hai người nầy ai là người Chúa đã chọn,
And when they had prayed, they said: Thou, Lord, knowest what is in the hearts of all, manifest which thou hast chosen of these two,
25 đặng dự vào chức vụ sứ đồ, thay vì Giu-đa đã bỏ đặng đi nơi của nó.
that he should take part in this ministry and legateship, from which Judas broke away, that he might go to his own place.
26 Ðoạn bắt thăm, trúng nhằm Ma-thia; người bèn được bổ vào mười một sứ đồ.
And they cast lots, and it came upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven legates.
