II Sử Ký 8

1 Cuối hai mươi năm, sau khi Sa-lô-môn đã xây cất xong cái đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va và cái cung mình,

Then, twenty years having passed since Solomon built the house of the Lord and his own house,

2 thì Sa-lô-môn cũng sửa xây lại các thành mà vua Hu-ram đã nhường cho người, và khiến cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ở đó.

he built the cities that Hiram had given to Solomon, and he caused the sons of Israel to live there.

3 Sa-lô-môn đi đến Ha-mát-Xô-ba và thắng được.

Also, he went to Hamath Zobah, and he obtained it.

4 Người xây thành Tát-mốt trong đồng vắng, và xây các thành dùng làm kho tàng tại xứ Ha-mát.

And he built Palmira in the desert, and he built very fortified cities in Hamath.

5 Người cũng xây Bết-Hô-rôn trên và Bết-Hô-rôn dưới, là những thành bền vững, có vách tường, cửa và then khóa;

And he built upper Beth-horon and lower Beth-horon, as walled cities, having gates and bars and locks,

6 lại xây thành Ba-lát và các thành làm kho tàng của Sa-lô-môn, các thành để chứa xe, và các thành cho lính kỵ người ở; phàm điều gì Sa-lô-môn ước ao xây cất, hoặc tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, trên Li-ban, hay là trong khắp xứ phục dưới quyền người, thì đều xây cất cả.

as well as Baalath, and all the very strong cities which were of Solomon, and all the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen. Everything whatsoever that Solomon willed and decided, he built in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout the entire land of his authority.

7 Hết thảy những người còn sống sót lại trong dân Hê-tít, dân A-mô-rít, dân Phê-rê-sít, dân Hê-vít, và dân Giê-bu-sít, không thuộc về Y-sơ-ra-ên,

All the people who had been left from the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, those who were not from the stock of Israel,

8 tức là những con cháu chúng nó hãy còn lại trong xứ, mà dân Y-sơ-ra-ên không diệt hết, thì trong chúng nó Sa-lô-môn bắt kẻ làm xâu cho đến ngày nay.

those of their sons and their posterity whom the sons of Israel had not put to death, Solomon subjugated as tributaries, even to this day.

9 Nhưng về dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, Sa-lô-môn không bắt ai làm xâu hết, vì họ làm quân lính, quan tướng, quan cai xe, và lính kỵ c»§a ngưṀ-i.

But he did not appoint anyone from the sons of Israel to serve in the works of the king. For they were men of war, and first rulers, and commanders of his chariots and horsemen.

10 Còn về quan trưởng của Sa-lô-môn đặt lên để quản đốc dân sự làm công việc, số là hai trăm năm mươi người.

Now all the leaders of the army of king Solomon were two hundred fifty, who were instructing the people.

11 Sa-lô-môn sai rước công chúa Pha-ra-ôn ở thành Ða-vít lên cung mà người đã cất cho nàng; vì người nói rằng: Vợ ta chẳng nên ở trong cung Ða-vít, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, vì nơi nào hòm của Ðức Giê-hô-va đến, thì đã nên thánh rồi.

Truly, he transferred the daughter of Pharaoh, from the City of David, to the house that he had built for her. For the king said: “My wife shall not live in the house of David, king of Israel, for it has been sanctified. For the ark of the Lord has entered into it.”

12 Bấy giờ, Sa-lô-môn dâng của lễ thiêu cho Ðức Giê-hô-va tại trên bàn thờ của Giê-hô-va mà người đã xây trước hiên cửa;

Then Solomon offered holocausts to the Lord on the altar of the Lord, which he had constructed before the portico,

13 lại tùy theo lệ luật của Môi-se, người dâng mỗi ngày của lễ phải dâng, cùng trong các ngày sa-bát, ngày mồng một, và hằng năm nhằm ba lễ trọng thể, tức lễ bánh không men, lễ các tuần lễ, và lễ lều tạm.

so that every day there would be an offering on it, in accord with the precept of Moses, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and three times a year on the feast days, that is, on the solemnity of unleavened bread, and on the solemnity of weeks, and on the solemnity of tabernacles.

14 Tùy theo lịnh truyền của Ða-vít, cha mình, người phân định ban thứ của những thầy tế lễ trong phần việc họ, và lập người Lê-vi trong chức sự họ, đặng ngợi khen Chúa và hầu việc tại trước mặt những thầy tế lễ, cứ công việc ngày nào theo ngày nấy; tại mỗi cửa cũng đặt kẻ giữ cửa, cứ theo phiên mình, vì Ða-vít, người của Ðức Chúa Trời, đã truyền lịnh như vậy.

And he appointed, in accord with the plan of his father David, the offices of the priests in their ministries; and those of the Levites, in their orders, so that they might praise and minister before the priests according to the ritual of each day; and the porters, in their divisions, from gate to gate. For so had David, the man of God, instructed.

15 Phàm điều gì vua đã phán dạy hững thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi, hoặc về kho tàng hay là về việc khác, thì họ chẳng bỏ bê chút nào.

Neither the priests, nor the Levites, transgressed against the commands of the king, in all that he had instructed, and in the keeping of the treasuries.

16 Vả, các tài liệu mà Sa-lô-môn dùng về việc cất đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va, đều đã sắm sửa từ ngày đặt nền cho đến khi công việc xong. Ðền của Ðức Giê-hô-va đã cất xong là như vậy.

Solomon had all the expenses prepared, from the day on which he founded the house of the Lord, even until the day when he perfected it.

17 Khi ấy Sa-lô-môn đi đến Ê-xi-ôn-Ghê-be và Ê-lốt, tại trên mé biển, trong xứ Ê-đôm.

Then Solomon went away to Eziongeber, and to Eloth, on the coast of the Red Sea, which is in the land of Edom.

18 Hu-ram bởi tay các tôi tớ mình, gởi đến cho người những tàu và các thủy thủ thạo nghề đi biển; chúng đi với các tôi tớ của Sa-lô-môn đến Ô-phia, lấy tại đó bốn trăm năm mươi ta lâng vàng, và chở về cho vua Sa-lô-môn.

And Hiram sent to him ships, by the hands of his servants, sailors and skillful navigators of the sea, and they went away with the servants of Solomon to Ophir. And they took from there four hundred fifty talents of gold, and they brought it to king Solomon.
