I Sa-mu-ên 29
1 Dân Phi-li-tin nhóm hiệp hết thảy các đạo quân tại A-phéc, còn dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đóng trại gần suối Gít-rê-ên.
Then all the troops of the Philistines were gathered together at Aphek. But Israel also made camp, above the spring which is in Jezreel.
2 Các quan trưởng dân Phi-li-tin và đạo quân kéo ra trước từng trăm từng ngàn; còn Ða-vít và những kẻ theo người đi hậu-tập với A-kích.
And indeed, the princes of the Philistines advanced by hundreds and by thousands; but David and his men were in the rear with Achish.
3 Bấy giờ, các quan trưởng dân Phi-li-tin nói rằng: Những người Hê-bơ-rơ đó là ai? A-kích đáp rằng: Ấy là Ða-vít, tôi tớ của Sau-lơ, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, ở với ta đã lâu ngày chầy năm. Từ ngày người sang nơi chúng ta cho đến bây giờ, ta chẳng thấy lỗi gì nơi người.
And the leaders of the Philistines said to Achish, “What do these Hebrews intend to do?” And Achish said to the leaders of the Philistines: “Could you be ignorant about David, who was the servant of Saul, the king of Israel, and who has been with me for many days, even years, and I have not found within him anything, from the day that he fled to me, even to this day?”
4 Các quan trưởng Phi-li-tin nổi giận, nói với A-kích rằng: Hãy đuổi người nầy trở về chỗ ông đã lập hắn, chớ cho hắn đi đánh giặc với chúng ta, e trong lúc chiến đấu, hắn trở lòng nghịch chúng ta chăng; vì hắn làm thế nào cho được hòa cùng chủ mình, há chẳng phải nhờ những thủ cấp của chúng ta sao?
Then the leaders of the Philistines became angry against him, and they said to him: “Let this man return, and let him settle in his place, which you appointed for him. But let him not descend with us to battle, lest he become an adversary to us when we begin to fight. For in what other way will he be able to please his lord, except with our heads?
5 Há chẳng phải về Ða-vít này mà người nữ hát trong cuộc nhảy múa rằng: Sau-lơ giết hàng ngàn, Còn Ða-vít giết hàng vạn?
Is not this the David, about whom they were singing, while dancing, saying: ‘Saul struck down his thousands, but David his ten thousands?’”
6 Vậy, A-kích gọi Ða-vít mà nói rằng: Ta chỉ Ðức Giê-hô-va hằng sống mà thề, ngươi vốn một người ngay thẳng, ta thích ngươi vào ra trong trại quân với ta, vì từ ngày ngươi đến cùng ta cho tới ngày nay, ta chẳng tìm thấy nơi ngươi điều chi đáng trách. Nhưng ngươi không đẹp lòng các quan trưởng.
Therefore, Achish called David, and he said to him: “As the Lord lives, you are good and righteous in my sight, even in your departure and your return with me in the military camp. And I have not found anything evil in you, from the day that you came to me, even to this day. But you are not pleasing to the princes.
7 Vậy bây giờ, hãy lui về và đi bình an, hầu cho khỏi mất lòng các quan trưởng Phi-li-tin.
Therefore, return, and go in peace, so that you do not offend the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.”
8 Ða-vít nói với A-kích rằng: Tôi có làm điều gì, và từ khi tôi ở gần vua đến ngày nay, vua có tìm thấy điều chi nên quở trách nơi tôi tớ vua, mà tôi không được đi đánh quân thù nghịch của chúa tôi, là vua?
And David said to Achish, “But what have I done, or what have you found in me, your servant, from the day that I was in your sight to this day, so that I may not go out and fight against the enemies of my lord, the king?”
9 A-kích đáp với Ða-vít rằng: Ta biết điều đó, ngươi vốn đẹp lòng ta như một thiên sứ của Ðức Chúa Trời. Nhưng các quan trưởng Phi-li-tin có nói: Hắn sẽ không lên đánh trận cùng chúng ta.
And in response, Achish said to David: “I know that you are good in my sight, like an angel of God. But the leaders of the Philistines have said: ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’
10 Ấy vậy, ngươi và những đầy tớ của chủ ngươi đã đến cùng ngươi, hãy dậy sớm; phải, hãy dậy sớm, và vừa khi trời sáng, hãy đi đi.
And so, rise up in the morning, you and the servants of your lord who came with you. And when you have risen up in the night, as it begins to be light, go forth.”
11 Vậy, Ða-vít và các kẻ theo người dậy sớm, để vừa sáng mai đi trở về trong xứ dân Phi-li-tin; còn dân Phi-li-tin đi lên Gít-rê-ên.
And so David rose up in the night, he and his men, so that they might set out in the morning. And they returned to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines ascended to Jezreel.
