I Sử Ký 29

1 Ða-vít nói với cả hội chúng rằng: Sa-lô-môn, con trai ta, chỉ một mình con đó mà Ðức Chúa Trời đã chọn, hãy còn trẻ tuổi non-nớt, và công việc lại lớn lao; vì cái đền đó chẳng phải cho loài người đâu, bèn là cho Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời.

And king David spoke to the entire assembly: “My son Solomon, the one God has chosen, is still a tender boy. And yet the work is great, for a habitation is being prepared, not for man, but for God.

2 Ta đã hết sức sắm cho đền của Ðức Chúa Trời ta, nào vàng dùng về đồ làm bằng vàng, nào bạc dùng về đồ làm bằng bạc, nào đồng dùng về đồ làm bằng đồng, nào sắt dùng về đồ làm bằng sắt, nào gỗ dùng về đồ làm bằng gỗ, lại sắm những ngọc bích, ngọc để khảm, ngọc chiếu sáng, ngọc đủ các màu, và các thứ đá quí, cùng đá cẩm thạch trắng rất nhiều.

Now with all my ability, I have prepared the expenses for the house of my God: gold for items of gold, and silver for those of silver, brass for those of brass, iron for those of iron, and wood for those of wood, and stones of onyx, and stones like alabaster, and stones of diverse colors, and every kind of precious stone, and marble from Paros in great abundance.

3 Lại, vì lòng ta yêu mến đền của Ðức Chúa Trời, nên ngoại trừ số ta đã sắm cho đền thánh, ta cũng dâng cho đền của Ðức Chúa Trời ta các đồ bằng vàng và bằng bạc thuộc riêng về ta,

And in addition to these things that I have offered into the house of my God, I give, from my own belongings, gold and silver for the temple of my God, aside from those things that I have prepared for the holy shrine:

4 tức là ba ngàn ta lâng vàng Ô-phia, và bảy ngàn ta lâng bạc thét, đặng dùng bọc các vách đền;

three thousand talents of gold, from the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of highly-refined silver, for the gilding of the walls of the temple;

5 vàng dùng về các việc làm bởi tay người thợ. Vậy ngày nay, ai là người vui lòng dâng mình cho Ðức Giê-hô-va?

and gold for wherever there is need of gold, and silver for wherever there is need of silver, for the works to be done by the hands of the artisans. And if anyone freely offers, let him fill his hand this day, and let him offer whatever he wishes to the Lord.”

6 Bấy giờ, các trưởng tộc, các trưởng của các chi phái Y-sơ-ra-ên, các quan tướng cai ngàn người và trăm người, các kẻ coi sóc công việc của vua, bèn vui lòng,

And so the leaders of the families, and the nobles of the tribes of Israel, as well as the tribunes and the centurions and the overseers of the king’s possessions, promised

7 dâng về công việc đền Ðức Chúa Trời, năm ngàn ta lâng vàng, mười ngàn đa-riếc, mười ngàn ta lâng bạc, mười tám ngàn ta lâng đồng, và một trăm ngàn ta lâng sắt.

and gave, for the works of the house of the Lord, five thousand talents and ten thousand pieces of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of brass, and also one hundred thousand talents of iron.

8 Phàm ai có đá quí, thì giao cho Giê-hi-ên về dòng Ghẹt-sôn, để dâng vào kho của Ðức Giê-hô-va.

And whoever found precious stones among their belongings gave them to the treasuries of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

9 Dân sự lấy làm vui mừng về điều mình trọn lòng vui ý dâng cho Ðức Giê-hô-va; và vua Ða-vít cũng lấy làm vui mừng lắm.

And the people rejoiced, since they were promising their votive offerings willingly. For they were offering these to the Lord with all their heart. And king David also rejoiced with great gladness.

10 Tại trước mặt cả hội chúng, Ða-vít chúc tạ Ðức Giê-hô-va mà rằng: Hỡi Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, tổ phụ chúng tôi ôi! đáng chúc tạ Ngài cho đến đời đời vô cùng!

And he blessed the Lord before the entire multitude, and he said: “Blessed are you, O Lord God of Israel, our Father from eternity to eternity.

11 Hỡi Ðức Giê-hô-va sự cao cả, quyền năng, vinh quang, toàn thắng, và oai nghi đáng qui về Ngài; vì muôn vật trên các từng trời và dưới đất đều thuộc về Ngài. Ðức Giê-hô-va ôi! nước thuộc về Ngài; Ngài được tôn cao làm Chúa tể của muôn vật.

Yours, O Lord, is magnificence and power and glory, and also victory; and to you is praise. For all the things that are in heaven and on earth are yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are above all rulers.

12 Hoặc sự giàu có, hoặc sự vinh quang, đều do Chúa mà đến, và Chúa quản trị trên muôn vật; quyền năng và thế lực ở nơi tay Chúa; tay Chúa khiến cho được tôn trọng và ban sức mạnh cho mọi người.

Yours is wealth, and yours is glory. You have dominion over all things. In your hand is virtue and power. In your hand is greatness and authority over all things.

13 Bây giờ, Ðức Chúa Trời chúng tôi ôi! chúng tôi cảm tạ Chúa và ngợi khen danh vinh hiển của Ngài.

Now therefore, we confess to you, our God, and we praise your famous name.

14 Nhưng tôi là ai, và dân sự tôi là gì, mà chúng tôi có sức dâng cách vui lòng như vậy? Vì mọi vật đều do nơi Chúa mà đến; và những vật chúng tôi đã dâng cho Chúa chẳng qua là đã thuộc về Chúa.

Who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to promise all these things to you? All is yours. And so the things that we received from your hand, we have given to you.

15 Vì chúng tôi tại trước mặt Chúa vốn là kẻ lạ, và kẻ ở đậu như các tổ phụ chúng tôi; các ngày chúng tôi tại trên đất, khác nào cái bóng, không mong ở lâu được.

For we are sojourners and new arrivals before you, as all our fathers were. Our days upon the earth are like a shadow, and there is no delay.

16 Hỡi Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời chúng tôi ôi! các vật nầy mà chúng tôi đã sắm sửa để cất đền cho danh thánh của Chúa, đều do nơi tay Chúa mà đến, và thảy đều thuộc về Chúa.

O Lord our God, all this abundance, which we have prepared so that a house may be built to your holy name, is from your hand, and all things are yours.

17 Ôi Ðức Chúa Trời tôi! tôi biết rằng Chúa dò xét lòng người ta, và Chúa vui vẻ về sự ngay thẳng. Về phần tôi, tôi cứ theo sự ngay thẳng của lòng tôi mà vui lòng dâng các vật nầy; và bây giờ tôi lấy làm vui mừng mà thấy dân sự Chúa ở đây cũng có dâng cho Chúa cách vui lòng.

I know, my God, that you test hearts, and that you love simplicity. Therefore, in the simplicity of my heart, I also have offered all these things joyfully. And I have seen, with immense gladness, your people, who have been found here, offering their donations to you.

18 Hỡi Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, của Y-sác, và của Y-sơ-ra-ên, tổ phụ của chúng tôi ôi! xin hãy cho dân sự Chúa giữ luôn luôn một tâm ý ấy trong lòng, và làm cho lòng chúng chiều theo về Chúa.

O Lord, the God of our fathers Abraham and Isaac and Israel, preserve unto eternity this desire of their heart, and let this purpose remain forever, for the worship of you.

19 Xin Chúa hãy ban cho Sa-lô-môn, con trai tôi, một lòng trọn vẹn, để gìn giữ các điều răn, chứng cớ, và luật lệ của Chúa, cùng làm cho các công việc nầy, xây cất cái đền mà tôi đã sắm sửa thờ lạy cho.

Also, I give to my son Solomon a perfect heart, so that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your ceremonies, and so that he may accomplish all things, and may build the temple, for which I have prepared the expenses.”

20 Ða-vít nói với cả hội chúng rằng: Hãy chúc tạ Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của các ngươi. Cả hội chúng bèn chiến trận Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ mình, cúi đầu xuống mà thờ lạy Ðức Giê-hô-va, và lạy vua.

Then David instructed the entire assembly: “Bless the Lord our God.” And the entire assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers. And they bowed themselves, and they adored God, and next they reverenced the king.

21 Qua ngày sau, chúng dâng những tế lễ cho Ðức Giê-hô-va, và dâng những của lễ thiêu cho Ðức Giê-hô-va: một ngàn con bò đực, một ngàn con chiên đực, một ngàn con chiên con, cùng các lễ quán cặp theo, và nhiều của tế lễ khác vì cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên;

And they immolated victims to the Lord. And they offered holocausts on the following day: one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, one thousand lambs, with their libations and with every ritual, very abundantly, for all of Israel.

22 trong ngày ấy, chúng ăn uống rất vui mừng tại trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va; chúng lần thứ nhì tôn Sa-lô-môn, con trai Ða-vít, làm vua, và nhơn Ðức Giê-hô-va xức dầu cho người làm vua chúa, và lập Xa-đốc làm thầy tế lễ.

And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day, with great rejoicing. And they anointed Solomon, the son of David, a second time. And they anointed him to the Lord as the ruler, and Zadok as the high priest.

23 Bấy giờ, Sa-lô-môn ngồi lên trên ngôi của Ðức Giê-hô-va, làm vua thế cho Ða-vít, cha người, và người được hưng thạnh; cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều vâng theo mạng người.

And Solomon sat upon the throne of the Lord as king, in place of his father David, and it pleased everyone. And all of Israel obeyed him.

24 Các quan trưởng, và người mạnh dạn, luôn với các con trai của vua Ða-vít, đều phục tùng vua Sa-lô-môn.

Moreover, all the leaders, and the powerful, and all the sons of king David pledged with their hand, and they became subject to king Solomon.

25 Ðức Giê-hô-va khiến cho Sa-lô-môn được rất coi trọng tại trước mặt cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, và ban cho người được oai nghiêm, đến đỗi trong Y-sơ-ra-ên chẳng có một vua nào trước người được như vậy.

Then the Lord magnified Solomon over all of Israel. And he gave to him a glorious reign, of a kind such as no one has had before him, as king of Israel.

26 Ða-vít, con trai Y-sai, cai trị trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên.

Now David, the son of Jesse, reigned over all of Israel.

27 Người cai trị trên Y-sơ-ra-ên bốn mươi năm: tại Hếp-rôn, người cai trị bảy năm, và tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, người cai trị ba mươi ba năm.

And the days during which he reigned over Israel were forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

28 Người băng hà tuổi cao, thỏa nguyện về đời mình, về sự giàu có, và về vinh hiển; Sa-lô-môn, con trai người, cai trị thế cho người.

And he died at a good old age, full of days and wealth and glory. And his son Solomon reigned in his place.

29 Các công việc của vua Ða-vít, từ đầu đến cuối, đều chép trong sách của Sa-mu-ên, đấng tiên kiến, trong sách của Na-than, đấng tiên tri, và trong sách của Gát, đấng tiên kiến;

Now the acts of king David, from the first to the last, have been written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,

30 cuộc trị vì người, sự mạnh dạn người, các việc xảy ra cho người, cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, và cho các nước khác, đều đã chép trong các sách ấy.

concerning his entire reign and strength, and the times that passed under him, both in Israel and in all the kingdoms of the lands.
