Ê-xê-ki-ên 31

1 Vào ngày một, tháng ba, năm thứ mười một đời Vua Giê-hô-gia-kin bị lưu đày, Chúa Hằng Hữu truyền sứ điệp này cho tôi:

Then it came about in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

2 “Hỡi con người, hãy truyền sứ điệp này cho Pha-ra-ôn, vua Ai Cập, cùng tất cả con dân của vua rằng: Các ngươi so sánh mình với ai?

“Son of man, say to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and to his multitudes around him, 'In your greatness, who are you like?

3 Các ngươi như nước A-sy-ri, từng như giống cây bá hương tại Li-ban, cành lá rậm rạp che bóng mát và ngọn vươn cao lên đến mây xanh.

Behold! Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, giving shade to the forest, and the tallest in height, and the branches formed its treetop.

4 Rễ đâm sâu xuống các mạch nước ngầm, giúp cây mọc cao lớn và sum suê. Nước chảy chung quanh như sông, suối chảy gần cây xanh.

Many waters made it tall; the deep waters made it huge. Rivers flowed all around its area, for their channels stretched out to all the trees in the field.

5 Cây này vượt cao hẵn, cao hơn tất cả các cây khác chung quanh nó. Cây tươi tốt, cành lá rậm rạp nhờ các mạch nước dưới đất.

Its great height was more than any of the other trees in the field, and its branches became very many; its branches grew long because of many waters as they grew.

6 Chim chóc làm tổ trên cành, và dưới tàng cây, thú vật sinh con. Tất cả dân tộc lớn trên đất đến cư ngụ dưới bóng của nó.

Every bird of the heavens nested in its branches, while every living thing of the field gave birth to its young under its foliage. All of the many nations lived under its shade.

7 Cây mạnh mẽ và xinh đẹp với cành lá vươn dài, vì rễ cây đâm sâu xuống chỗ mạch nước.

For it was beautiful in its greatness and the length of its branches, for its roots were in many waters.

8 Không có cây bá hương nào trong vườn Đức Chúa Trời có thể sánh với nó. Cây bách cũng không sánh được nhánh nó; cây hạt dẻ không bằng cành nó. Không cây nào trong vườn Đức Chúa Trời tươi đẹp bằng nó.

Cedars in the garden of God could not equal it. None among the cypress trees matched its branches, and the plane tree could not equal its boughs. There was no other tree in the garden of God that was like it in its beauty.

9 Vì Ta ban cho cây này xinh đẹp, và cho hoa lá nó tốt tươi, nên tất cả cây cối tại Ê-đen, là vườn của Đức Chúa Trời đều ghen tị.

I made it beautiful with its many branches and all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God envied it.

10 Vì thế, đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán: Vì nó trở nên kiêu căng và ngạo mạn, và vì nó cao hơn các cây khác, ngọn lên đến tận mây,

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this: Because it was tall in height, and it set its treetop between its branches, it lifted up its heart because of its height.

11 nên Ta sẽ phó nó vào tay một nước hùng mạnh, nước này sẽ hủy diệt nó vì tội ác nó. Chính Ta sẽ đốn nó ngã.

I have given it into the hand of a mighty one of the nations, to deal with it according to what its wickedness deserves. I have thrown it out.

12 Quân đội nước ngoài—là sự kinh hoàng của các dân tộc—sẽ đốn nó ngã xuống nằm dài trên mặt đất. Nhánh cây gãy rơi khắp núi non, thung lũng, và sông ngòi. Dân cư dưới bóng nó sẽ bỏ đi và để nó nằm lại đó.

Foreigners who were the terror of all the nations cut it off and left it to die. Its branches fell on the mountains and all the valleys, and its boughs lay broken in all the ravines of the land. Then all the nations on earth came out from under its shade and they went away from it.

13 Chim trời sẽ đến ở trên thân cây bị ngã, và thú rừng đến nằm trên cành lá.

All the birds of the sky rested on the trunk of the fallen tree, and every animal of the field came to its branches.

14 Như thế, sẽ chẳng có cây của nước nào còn hân hoan kiêu ngạo trong phồn vinh của nó, dù nó vươn ngọn lên tận mây xanh và rễ đâm sâu xuống nước. Vì tất cả đều bị kết tội chết, cùng đi xuống vực sâu của đất. Chúng sẽ bị đẩy vào hồ chung với những kẻ khác trên đất.”

This happened so that no other trees that grow by the waters will lift up their foliage to the height of the tallest trees, and that no other trees that grow beside the waters will reach up to that height. All of them have been assigned to death, to the earth below, among the children of humanity, with those that go down to the pit.

15 “Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán: Ngày A-sy-ri xuống âm phủ, Ta sẽ khiến các suối sâu than khóc. Ta sẽ ngăn các dòng sông và làm khô cạn những dòng nước. Ta sẽ khiến Li-ban ảm đạm và cây cối nó héo tàn. (Sheol h7585)

The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day when the cedar went down to Sheol I brought mourning to the earth. I covered the deep waters over it, and I held back the ocean waters. I kept back the great waters, and I brought mourning to Lebanon for him. So all the trees of the field mourned because of it. (Sheol h7585)

16 Ta sẽ làm các dân tộc rúng động khi nghe tiếng nó ngã, vì Ta sẽ ném nó xuống âm phủ với những kẻ giống như nó. Mọi cây cối kiêu ngạo của Ê-đen, những cây xinh đẹp và tươi tốt nhất của Li-ban, những cây có rễ đâm sâu xuống nước, đều được an ủi nơi âm phủ khi thấy nó cũng vào đó. (Sheol h7585)

I brought shuddering to the nations at the sound of its downfall, when I threw it down to Sheol with those who went down into the pit. So I comforted all the trees of Eden in the lowest parts of the earth. These had been the choicest and best trees of Lebanon; the trees that drank the waters. (Sheol h7585)

17 Những dân tộc liên minh cũng vậy, đều bị tiêu diệt và bị chết. Chúng đều đi xuống âm phủ—tức là những dân tộc đã sống dưới bóng của nó. (Sheol h7585)

For they also went down with it to Sheol, to the ones who had been killed by the sword. These were its strong arm, those nations who had lived in its shade. (Sheol h7585)

18 Hỡi Ai Cập, ngươi sẽ so sánh sức mạnh và vinh quang ngươi với cây nào tại Ê-đen? Ngươi cũng sẽ bị ném xuống âm phủ cùng với những dân tộc này. Ngươi sẽ ở chung với những dân ngươi khinh bỉ, bị giết bằng gươm. Đây là số phận của Pha-ra-ôn và toàn dân của hắn. Ta, Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, đã phán vậy!”

Which of the trees in Eden was your equal in glory and greatness? For you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lowest parts of the earth among the uncircumcised; you will live with those who were killed by the sword.' This is Pharaoh and all of his multitudes—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.”
