1 Tiên tri Ê-li-sê gọi một môn đệ đến bảo: “Con sửa soạn đi Ra-mốt Ga-la-át. Cầm lọ dầu này,
Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, “Dress for travel, then take this little bottle of oil in your hand and go to Ramoth Gilead.
2 đi tìm Giê-hu, con Giô-sa-phát, cháu Nim-si. Con sẽ gặp ông ấy đang ngồi với anh em mình. Bảo người theo con vào một phòng kín,
When you arrive, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi, and go in and make him arise up from among his companions, and conduct him to an inner chamber.
3 lấy lọ dầu đổ trên đầu người và nói: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: Ta xức dầu cho ngươi làm vua Ít-ra-ên.’ Xong, con phải nhanh chân chạy thoát!”
Then take the bottle of oil and pour it on his head and say, 'Yahweh says this: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”' Then open the door, and run off; do not delay.”
4 Vậy, môn đệ tiên tri đến Ra-mốt Ga-la-át.
So the young man, the young prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.
5 Khi đến nơi, ông thấy Giê-hu đang họp với các quan chỉ huy của quân đội. Môn đệ ấy nói với Giê-hu: “Tôi có chuyện nói với ông.” Giê-hu: “Với ai trong chúng tôi?” Môn đệ trả lời: “Với ông, thưa tướng chỉ huy.”
When he arrived, behold, the captains of the army were sitting. So the young prophet said, “I have come on an errand to you, captain.” Jehu replied, “To which of us?” The young prophet answered, “To you, captain.”
6 Giê-hu đứng lên, đi vào nhà. Người ấy theo vào, đổ dầu lên đầu Giê-hu và nói: “Chúa Hằng Hữu Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên phán: ‘Ta xức dầu cho ngươi làm vua Ít-ra-ên, dân Ta.
So Jehu arose and went into the house, and the prophet poured the oil on his head and said to Jehu, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says this: 'I have anointed you king over the people of Yahweh, over Israel.
7 Ngươi sẽ tiêu diệt nhà A-háp, chủ ngươi, báo thù cho các tiên tri và các đầy tớ của Chúa Hằng Hữu đã bị Giê-sa-bên tàn sát.
You must kill the family of Ahab your master, so that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Yahweh, who were murdered by the hand of Jezebel.
8 Cả nhà A-háp phải bị diệt sạch, mọi người đàn ông trong nhà, cả tự do lẫn nô lệ đều phải bị giết.
For the whole family of Ahab will perish, and I will cut off from Ahab every male child, whether he is a slave or a free person.
9 Ta sẽ làm cho nhà A-háp giống như nhà Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát, và nhà Ba-ê-sa, con A-hi-gia.
I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah.
10 Giê-sa-bên sẽ bị chó ăn thịt tại Gít-rê-ên, thây nó không ai chôn cất.’” Nói xong, môn đệ ấy mở cửa chạy đi.
The dogs will eat Jezebel in Jezreel, and there will be no one to bury her.'” Then the prophet opened the door and ran off.
11 Giê-hu trở ra với các tướng chỉ huy. Họ hỏi: “Mọi sự tốt đẹp chứ? Gã khùng ấy đến có việc gì thế?” Giê-hu đáp: “Các ông biết người ấy, và cũng biết những điều người ấy nói rồi.”
Then Jehu came out to the servants of his master, and one said to him, “Is everything alright? Why did this mad fellow come to you?” Jehu answered them, “You know the man and the kinds of things he says.”
12 Họ nhao nhao: “Anh đang giấu vài điều! Anh nói cho chúng tôi biết đi.” Giê-hu kể cho họ nghe những điều Chúa Hằng Hữu nói, và cho họ biết mình đã được xức dầu làm vua Ít-ra-ên.
They said, “That is a lie. Tell us.” Jehu answered, “He said this and that to me, and he also said, 'This is what Yahweh says: I have anointed you as king over Israel.'”
13 Lập tức, mọi người tại đó lấy áo trải dưới chân Giê-hu, nơi các bực thang rồi thổi kèn, tung hô: “Vua Giê-hu vạn tuế!”
Then each of them quickly took off his outer garment and put it under Jehu at the top of the steps. They blew the trumpet and said, “Jehu is king.”
14 Và như thế, Giê-hu, con Giô-sa-phát, cháu Nim-si, làm phản Vua Giô-ram. Lúc ấy, quân Ít-ra-ên đang lo chống giữ Ra-mốt Ga-la-át trước lực lượng của Ha-xa-ên, vua A-ram.
In this way Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. Now Joram had been defending Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Aram,
15 Nhưng khi lâm chiến, Giô-ram đã bị thương và phải trở về Gít-rê-ên chữa trị. Giê-hu nói với mọi người ở đó: “Nếu anh em đồng ý, ta sẽ giữ không cho một ai ra khỏi thành để về Ghít-rê-ên báo tin.”
but King Joram had gone back to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds that the Arameans had given him, when he had fought against Hazael king of Aram. Jehu said to the servants of Joram, “If this is your opinion, then let no one escape and go out of the city, in order to go tell this news in Jezreel.”
16 Nói xong, Giê-hu lên xe đi Gít-rê-ên, nơi Giô-ram đang nằm điều trị thương tích. Lúc ấy, A-cha-xia, vua Giu-đa đến thăm Giô-ram, và cũng có mặt tại Ghít-rê-ên.
So Jehu rode in a chariot to Jezreel; for Joram was resting there. Now Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.
17 Người lính gác trên vọng canh thành Gít-rê-ên trông thấy Giê-hu và những người đi theo tiến đến, liền lớn tiếng báo tin: “Tôi thấy một đoàn người đang đi tới!” Giô-ram ra lệnh: “Sai một người cưỡi ngựa ra xem thử họ có ý hòa hảo hay không.”
The watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came at a distance; he said, “I see a group of men coming.” Joram said, “Take a horseman, and send him out to meet them; tell him to say, 'Are you coming in peace?'”
18 Một người phi ngựa ra gặp Giê-hu, hỏi: “Vua muốn biết các ông đến với tinh thần hòa bình hay không.” Giê-hu nói: “Hòa hay chiến có liên hệ gì với ngươi? Tránh ra phía sau!” Người lính canh loan báo: “Sứ giả đến gặp họ rồi nhưng không quay về.”
So a man was sent on horseback to meet him; he said, “The king says this: 'Are coming in peace?'” So Jehu said, “What have you to do with peace? Turn and ride behind me.” Then the watchman told the king, “The messenger has met them, but he is not coming back.”
19 Vua sai một người thứ hai phóng ngựa ra, nói: “Vua muốn biết các ông đến với hòa khí hay không?” Giê-hu nói: “Hòa hay bất hòa có việc gì đến ngươi? Tránh ra phía sau!”
Then he sent out a second man on horseback, who came to them and said, “The king says this: 'Are you coming in peace?'” Jehu answered, “What have you to do with peace? Turn and ride behind me.”
20 Người lính canh lại loan báo: “Sứ giả gặp họ rồi, nhưng cũng không quay về! Còn người đang tới chắc là Giê-hu con trai Nim-si, vì người ấy đánh xe một cách hung hăng.”
Again the watchman reported, “He has met them, but he is not coming back. For the way that the chariot is being driven is the way that Jehu son of Nimshi drives; he is driving wildly.”
21 Giô-ram ra lệnh: “Chuẩn bị xe cộ sẵn sàng cho ta.” Thế rồi, Giô-ram, vua Ít-ra-ên và A-cha-xia, vua Giu-đa, mỗi người lên xe, ra đón Giê-hu. Họ gặp nhau trong cánh đồng của Na-bốt ở Gít-rê-ên.
So Joram said, “Get my chariot ready.” They prepared his chariot, and Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah rode out, each in his chariot, to meet Jehu. They found him at the property of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22 Giô-ram hỏi: “Ngươi đến trong hòa khí phải không, Giê-hu?” Giê-hu hỏi vặn: “Hòa thế nào được trong khi Giê-sa-bên, mẹ vua vẫn sống trong dâm loạn, tà thuật?”
When Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Are you coming in peace, Jehu?” He answered, “What peace is there, when the idolatrous acts of prostitution and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel are so many?”
23 Giô-ram quay xe chạy trốn, đồng thời gọi A-cha-xia, báo: “Có âm mưu phản loạn!”
So Joram turned his chariot and fled and said to Ahaziah, “There is treachery, Ahaziah.”
24 Giê-hu lắp tên, kéo cung, bắn vào giữa hai vai Giô-ram, mũi tên xuyên thấu tim. Giô-ram ngã chết trong xe.
Then Jehu drew his bow with his full strength and shot Joram between his shoulders; the arrow went through his heart, and he sank down in his chariot.
25 Giê-hu bảo Bích-ca, người phụ tá: “Đem thây hắn ném vào cánh đồng của Na-bốt. Vì chắc ông còn nhớ, lúc ông với tôi cùng cưỡi ngựa theo sau A-háp cha hắn, Chúa Hằng Hữu có phán với A-háp những lời này:
Then Jehu said to Bidkar his captain, “Pick him up and throw him in the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. Think about how when you and I rode together after Ahab his father, Yahweh placed this prophecy against him:
26 ‘Hôm qua, Ta có thấy máu của Na-bốt và các con người ấy, và ngươi sẽ chịu quả báo ngay trong cánh đồng này.’ Vậy, ném hắn xuống cánh đồng của Na-bốt đi, theo như lời Chúa Hằng Hữu đã phán.”
'Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons—declares Yahweh—and I will surely make you pay for it on this field—declares Yahweh. Now then, pick him up and throw him on this field, according to the word of Yahweh.”
27 Thấy việc xảy ra, vua A-cha-xia của Giu-đa bỏ chạy về hướng Bết-ha-gan. Giê-hu đuổi theo ra lệnh: “Đánh chết nó luôn trong xe nó!” A-cha-xia bị tấn công lúc đang ngồi trong xe tại Dốc Gu-rơ, gần Íp-lê-am. Vua chạy đến Mê-ghi-đô, và chết tại đó.
When Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled up the road to Beth Haggan. But Jehu followed him, and said, “Kill him also in the chariot,” and they shot him at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. Ahaziah fled to Megiddo and died there.
28 Các đầy tớ A-cha-xia đặt xác vua trên một cỗ xe, chở về Giê-ru-sa-lem, chôn trong mộ cùng với tổ tiên vua tại Thành Đa-vít.
His servants carried his body in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in his tomb with his fathers in the city of David.
29 A-cha-xia bắt đầu làm vua Giu-đa vào năm thứ mười một đời Giô-ram, con A-háp.
Now it was in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab that Ahaziah had begun to reign over Judah.
30 Khi Hoàng hậu Giê-sa-bên nghe Giê-hu đến Gít-rê-ên, liền vẽ mắt, sửa lại mái tóc, rồi đứng bên cửa sổ lâu đài nhìn ra.
When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, and she painted her eyes, arranged her hair, and looked out the window.
31 Thấy Giê-hu đến trước cổng, Giê-sa-bên nói: “Này Xim-ri! Kẻ giết chủ, còn đến đây làm gì?”
As Jehu was entering the gate, she said to him, “Are you coming in peace, you Zimri, your master's murderer?”
32 Giê-hu ngước đầu nhìn lên cửa sổ, hỏi: “Ai thuộc về phe ta?” Vài ba thái giám nhìn xuống về phía Giê-hu.
Jehu looked up at the window and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” Then two or three eunuchs looked out.
33 Giê-hu la lên: “Ném bà ấy xuống đây!” Họ liền ném Giê-sa-bên xuống, máu văng lên tường, vấy cả lên ngựa. Ngựa giẫm lên xác Giê-sa-bên.
So Jehu said, “Throw her down.” So they threw Jezebel down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and the horses, and Jehu trampled her underfoot.
34 Giê-hu vào cung vua. Ăn uống xong, ông nói: “Bây giờ lo đi chôn người đàn bà bị nguyền rủa kia, dù sao bà ta cũng là con gái của vua.”
When Jehu entered the palace, he ate and drank. Then he said, “See now to this cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king's daughter.”
35 Nhưng những người được sai đi chôn Giê-sa-bên chỉ thấy cái sọ, hai chân và hai bàn tay nằm đó.
They went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull, the feet, and the palms of her hands.
36 Họ quay lại trình báo. Giê-hu nói: “Đúng như lời Chúa Hằng Hữu phán qua đầy tớ Ngài là Ê-li người Tích-bê: ‘Chó sẽ ăn thịt Giê-sa-bên trong đất Gít-rê-ên.
So they came back and told Jehu. He said, “This is the word of Yahweh which he spoke by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 'In the land at Jezreel the dogs will eat the flesh of Jezebel,
37 Thây nó sẽ như phân trong đồng ruộng Gít-rê-ên đến nỗi chẳng ai còn nhận ra đó là Giê-sa-bên.’”
and the body of Jezebel will be like dung on the surface of the fields in the land at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, “This is Jezebel.”'”
