1 У п'ятнадцятий рік панува́ння Тиве́рія ке́саря, коли По́нтій Пила́т панував над Юдеєю, коли в Галілеї тетра́рхом був І́род, а Пилип, його брат, був тетра́рхом Ітуре́ї й землі Трахоні́тської, за тетра́рха Ліса́нія в Авілі́ні,
In the fiftenthe yeare of the raygne of Tiberius the Emperoure Pontius Pylate beinge leftenaut of Iurie and Herode beinge Tetrach of Galile and his brother Philip Tetrach in Iturea and in the region of Traconites and Lysanias the Tetrach of Abyline
2 за первосвящеників Анни й Кайя́фи було Боже слово в пустині Іванові, сину Захарія.
when Anna and Cayphas were the hye prestes: the worde of God came vnto Iohn ye sonne of zacharias in the wildernes.
3 І він перейшов усю землю Йорда́нську, проповідуючи хрищення покая́ння для про́щення гріхів,
And he came in to all the coostes aboute Iordan preachynge the baptyme of repentaunce for the remission of synnes
4 як написано в книзі пророцтва пророка Ісаї: „Голос того, хто кличе: У пустині готуйте дорогу для Господа, рівняйте стежки́ Йому!
at it is written in the boke of the sayinges of Esaias ye Prophet which sayeth: The voyce of a cryar in wyldernes prepare the waye of the Lorde make hys pathes strayght.
5 Нехай кожна долина напо́вниться, гора ж кожна та при́горок зни́зиться, що нерівне, нехай випросто́вується, а доро́ги вибо́їсті стануть гладе́нькі, —
Every valley shalbe fylled and every moutayne and hyll shalbe brought lowe. And crocked thinges shalbe made streight: and the rough wayes shalbe made smoth:
6 і кожна люди́на побачить Боже спасі́ння!“
and all flesshe shall se the saveour sent of God.
7 А Іван говорив до людей, хто прихо́див, христитися в ньо́го: Ро́де зміїний, — хто навчив вас тікати від гніву майбу́тнього?
Then sayde he to the people that were come to be baptysed of him: O generacion of vipers who hath taught you to flye from the wrath to come?
8 Отож, учиніть гідний плід покая́ння. І не починайте казати в собі: „Маємо ба́тька Авраама“. Бо кажу вам, що Бог може підне́сти дітей Авраамові з цьо́го каміння.
Bringe forth due frutes of repentaunce and begynne not to saye in youre selves we have Abraham to oure father. For I saye vnto you: God is able of these stones to reyse vp chyldren vnto Abraham.
9 Бо вже он до корі́ння дере́в і сокира прикла́дена: кожне ж дерево, що доброго пло́ду не родить, буде зрубане та до огню буде вкинене“.
Now also ys the axe leyd vnto the rote of the trees: so yt every tree which bringeth not forth good frute shalbe hewe doune and caste in to ye fyre.
10 А люди питали його й говорили: „Що́ ж нам робити?“
And the people axed him sayinge: What shall we do then?
11 І сказав він у відповідь їм: „У кого дві сорочці, — нехай дасть немаючому; а хто має поживу, — нехай робить так само“.
He answered and sayde vnto them: He that hath two coottes let him parte with him that hath none: and he that hath meate let him do lyke wyse.
12 І прихо́дили й ми́тники, щоб христитись від нього, і питали його: „Учителю, що́ ми маємо робити?“
Then came ther Publicans to be baptised and sayde vnto him: Master what shall we do?
13 А він їм казав: „Не стягайте нічого над те, що вам зве́лено“.
And he sayde vnto the: requyre no more then that which ys appoynted vnto you.
14 Питали ж його й вояки́ й говорили: „А нам що робити?“І він їм відповів: „Ніко́го не кривдьте, ані не оскаржайте фальшиво, удовольня́йтесь платнею своєю“.
The soudyoures lyke wyse demaunded of hym sayinge: and what shall we do? And he sayde to them: Do violence to noo ma: nether trouble eny man wrongfully: but be content with youre wages.
15 Коли ж усі люди чекали, і в серцях своїх ду́мали всі про Івана, чи то він не Христос,
As the people were in a doute and all men disputed in their hertes of Iohn whether he were very Christ:
16 Іван відповідав усім, кажучи: „Я хрищу́ вас водою, але йде ось Поту́жніший за мене, що Йому́ розв'язати ремінця́ від Його взуття́ я негідний, — Він христитиме вас Святим Духом й огнем!
Ihon answered and sayde to them all: I baptyse you wt water but a stronger then I cometh after me whose shue latchet I am not worthy to vnlouse: he will baptise you with the holy goost and with fyre:
17 У руці Своїй має Він ві́ячку, — і перечистить Свій тік: пшеницю збере до засі́ків Своїх, а полову попа́лить ув огні невгаси́мім“.
which hath his fanne in his hond and will pourge his floore and will gader the corne into his barne: but the chaffe wyll he bourne with fyre that never shalbe quenched.
18 Тож багато навчав він і іншого, звіщаючи Добру Нови́ну народові.
And many other thinges in his exhortacion preached he vnto the people.
19 А Ірод тетра́рх, що Іван докоря́в йому за Іродія́ду, дружи́ну брата свого, і за все зло, яке заподі́яв був Ірод,
Then Herode the Tetrach (when he was rebuked of him for Herodias his brother Philippes wyfe and for all the evyls which Herod had done)
20 до всього додав іще й те, що Івана замкнув до в'язни́ці.
added this above all and leyd Iohn in preson.
21 І сталося, як христились усі люди, і як Ісус, охристившись, молився, розкрилося небо,
And yt fortuned as all the people receaved baptyme (and when Iesus was baptised and dyd praye) that heave was opened
22 і Дух Святий зли́нув на Нього в тілесному ви́гляді, як голуб, і голос із неба почувся, що мовив: „Ти Син Мій Улю́блений, що Я вподо́бав Тебе!“
and the holy goost came doune in a bodely shape lyke a dove vpo him and a voyce came fro heve sayinge: Thou arte my dere sonne in the do I delyte.
23 А Сам Ісус, розпочинаючи, мав ро́ків із тридцять, бувши, як думано, сином Йо́сипа, Ілія,
And Iesus him silfe was about thirty yere of age when he begane beinge as men supposed the sonne of Ioseph. which Ioseph was the sonne of Heli
24 сина Маттатового, сина Леві́їного, сина Мелхіїного, сина Яннаєвого, сина Йо́сипового,
which was the sonne of Mathat which was the sonne of Levi: which was the sonne of Melchi: which was the sonne of Ianna: which was the sonne of Ioseph:
25 сина Маттатієвого, сина Амосова, сина Наумового, сина Еслієвого, сина Наггеєвого,
which was the sonne of Matatthias: which was the sonne of Amos: which was the sonne of Nahum: which was the sonne of Esli: which was the sonne of Nagge:
26 сина Маатового, сина Маттатієвого, сина Семенієвого, сина Йосихового, сина Йодаєвого,
which was the sonne of Maath: which was the sonne of Matathias: which was the sonne of Semei: which was the sonne of Ioseph: which was the sonne of Iuda:
27 сина Йоананового, сина Рисаєвого, сина Зоровавелевого, сина Салатіїлового, сина Нирієвого,
which was the sonne of Iohanna: which was the sonne of Rhesya: which was the sonne of zorobabel: which was the sonne of Salathiel: which was the sonne of Neri:
28 сина Мелхієвого, сина Аддієвого, сина Косамового, сина Елмадамового, сина Ірового,
which was the sonne of Melchi: which was the sonne of Addi: which was the sonne of Cosam: which was the sonne of Helmadam: which was the sonne of Her:
29 сина Ісуєвого, сина Еліезерового, сина Йоримового, сина Маттатієвого, сина Левієвого,
which was the sonne of Ieso: which was the sonne of Helieser: which was the sonne of Ioram: which was the sonne of Mattha: which was the sonne of Levi:
30 сина Семенового, сина Юдиного, сина Йо́сипового, сина Йонамового, сина Еліякимового,
which was the sonne of Simeon: which was the sonne of Iuda: which was the sonne of Ioseph: which was the sonne of Ionam: which was the sonne of Heliachim:
31 сина Мелеаєвого, сина Меннаєвого, сина Маттатаєвого, сина Натамового, сина Давидового,
which was the sonne of Melea: which was the sonne of Menam: which was the sonne of Mathathan: which was the sonne of Nathan: which was the sonne of David:
32 сина Єссеєвого, сина Йовидового, сина Воозового, сина Салаєвого, сина Наассонового,
which was the sonne of Iesse: which was the sonne of Obed: which was the sonne of Boos: which was the sonne of Salmon: which was the sonne of Naason:
33 сина Амінадавого, сина Адмінієвого, сина Арнієвого, сина Есромового, сина Фаресового, сина Юдиного,
which was the sonne of Aminadab: which was the sonne of Aram: which was the sonne of Esrom: which was the sonne of Phares: which was the sonne of Iuda:
34 сина Яковлевого, сина Ісакового, сина Авраамового, сина Тариного, сина Нахорового,
which was the sonne of Iacob: which was the sonne of Ysaac: which was the sonne of Abraham: which was the sonne of Tharra: which was the sonne of Nachor:
35 сина Серухового, сина Рагавового, сина Фалекового, сина Еверового, сина Салиного,
which was the sonne of Saruch: which was the sonne of Ragau: which was the sonne of Phalec: which was the sonne of Heber: which was the sonne of Sala:
36 сина Каїнамового, сина Арфаксадового, сина Симового, сина Но́євого, сина Ламе́хового,
which was the sonne of Cainan: which was the sonne of Arphaxat: which was the sonne of Sem: which was the sonne of Noe: which was the sonne of Lameth:
37 сина Матусалового, сина Ено́хового, сина Яретового, сина Малелеїлового, сина Каїнамового,
which was the sonne of Mathusala: which was the sonne of Enoch: which was the sonne of Iareth: which was the sonne of Malalehel. which was the sonne of Cainan:
38 сина Еносового, сина Ситового, сина Ада́мового, — Сином Божим.
which was the sonne of Enos: which was the sonne of Seth: which was the sonne of Adam: which was the sonne of God.
