1 до коринтян 14
1 Дбайте про любов і жадайте духовного, найбільше ж, щоб пророкувати.
Followe after loue, and couet spirituall giftes, and rather that ye may prophecie.
2 Бо, хто говорить (чужою) мовою, не людям говорить, а Богу; бо нїхто не чує його; а духом він говорить тайне.
For hee that speaketh a strange tongue, speaketh not vnto men, but vnto God: for no man heareth him: howbeit in the spirit he speaketh secret things.
3 Хто ж пророкує, людям говорить на збудованнє, і напоминаннє і утїшеннє.
But he that prophecieth, speaketh vnto me to edifying, and to exhortation, and to comfort.
4 Хто говорить (чужою) мовою, себе збудовує; а хто пророкує, церкву збудовує.
He that speaketh strange language, edifieth himselfe: but hee that prophecieth, edifieth the Church.
5 Хочу ж, щоб усї ви говорили мовами, та раднїщ, щоб пророкували; більший бо хто пророкує, ніж хто говорить мовами, хиба що й вияснює, щоб церква збудованнє прийняла.
I would that ye all spake strange languages, but rather that ye prophecied: for greater is hee that prophecieth, then hee that speaketh diuers tongues, except hee expound it, that the Church may receiue edification.
6 Тепер же, браттє, коли прийду до вас, мовами говорячи, то що вам за користь, коли вам не говорити му або одкриттєм, або знаннєм, або пророцтвом, або наукою?
And nowe, brethren, if I come vnto you speaking diuers tongues, what shall I profite you, except I speake to you, either by reuelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecying, or by doctrine?
7 Ба й бездушне, що дає голос, чи сопілка, чи гуслї, коли різноти голосу не дає, як розуміти, що виграєть ся в сопілку або в гуслї.
Moreouer things without life which giue a sounde, whether it be a pipe or an harpe, except they make a distinction in the soundes, how shall it be knowen what is piped or harped?
8 Бо коли й сурма невиразний голос дає, то хто готовити меть ся до бою?
And also if the trumpet giue an vncertaine sound, who shall prepare himselfe to battell?
9 Так само й ви, коли подасте мовою незрозуміле слово, як зрозумієть ся говорене? на вітер бо говорити мете.
So likewise you, by the tongue, except yee vtter wordes that haue signification, howe shall it be vnderstand what is spoken? for ye shall speake in the ayre.
10 Стільки, як от буває, родів слів на сьвітї, і ні одно з них без голосу.
There are so many kindes of voyces (as it commeth to passe) in the world, and none of them is dumme.
11 Коли ж не зрозумію значіння слів, буду тому, хто говорить, чужоземець, і хто говорить, чужоземець менї.
Except I know then the power of ye voyce, I shall be vnto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh, shalbe a barbarian vnto me.
12 Так і ви, коли дбаєте про дари духовні, то гледїть, щоб збагатіли ними на збудованнє церкві.
Euen so, forasmuch as ye couet spirituall giftes, seeke that ye may excell vnto the edifying of the Church.
13 Так, хто говорить (чужою) мовою, нехай молить ся, щоб міг вияснювати.
Wherefore, let him that speaketh a strange tongue, pray, that he may interprete.
14 Коли бо молюсь (чужою) мовою, дух мій молить ся, розуміннє ж моє без'овочне.
For if I pray in a strange togue, my spirit prayeth: but mine vnderstading is without fruite.
15 Що ж (робити)? Молити мусь духом, молити мусь же й розуміннєм; співати му духом, співати му й розуміннєм.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, but I wil pray with the vnderstanding also: I wil sing with the spirite, but I will sing with the vnderstanding also.
16 Бо коли благословити меш духом, то як той, хто займе місце невче-ного, скаже на твоє дякуваннє, коли він не знає, що говориш.
Else, when thou blessest with the spirit, howe shall hee that occupieth the roome of the vnlearned, say Amen, at thy giuing of thankes, seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest?
17 Ти бо добре дякуєш, тільки ж другий не збудовуєть ся.
For thou verely giuest thankes well, but the other is not edified.
18 Дякую Богу моєму, що я більш усіх вас говорю мовами.
I thanke my God, I speake languages more then ye all.
19 Тільки ж у церкві лучче мені пять слів промовити розуміннєм моїм, щоб і инших навчити, нїж десять тисяч слів (чужою) мовою.
Yet had I rather in the Church to speake fiue wordes with mine vnderstanding, that I might also instruct others, then ten thousande wordes in a strange tongue.
20 Браттє, не бувайте дїти розуміннєм; нї, в лихому бувайте малолїтниками, у розумінню ж звершеними.
Brethren, be not children in vnderstanding, but as concerning maliciousnes be children, but in vnderstanding be of a ripe age.
21 В законї писано: Чужими язиками й чужими устами говорити му людям сим, та й так не послухають мене, глаголе Господь.
In the Lawe it is written, By men of other tongues, and by other languages will I speake vnto this people: yet so shall they not heare me, sayth the Lord.
22 Тимже язики на ознаку не тим, хто вірує, а невірним; пророцтво ж не невірним, а віруючим.
Wherefore strange tongues are for a signe, not to them that beleeue, but to them that beleeue not: but prophecying serueth not for them that beleeue not, but for them which beleeue.
23 Коли оце зійдеть ся вся церква докупи, і всі чужими мовами заговорять, увійдуть же і невчені або невірні, то чи не скажуть, що ви дурієте?
If therefore when the whole Church is come together in one, and all speake strange tongues, there come in they that are vnlearned, or they which beleeue not, will they not say, that ye are out of your wittes?
24 Коли ж усї пророкують і ввійде хто невірний або невчений, то від усїх буде докорений і від усіх суджений.
But if all prophecie, and there come in one that beleeueth not, or one vnlearned, hee is rebuked of all men, and is iudged of all,
25 І так тайни серця його виявлять ся, і так припавши лицем, поклонить ся Богові, звіщаючи, що справді з вами Бог.
And so are the secrets of his heart made manifest, and so he will fall downe on his face and worship God, and say plainely that God is in you in deede.
26 Що ж (треба робити), браттє? Коли сходитесь, і кожен псальму має, науку має, мову має, одкритте має, виясненнє має, - усе на збудованнє нехай буде.
What is to be done then, brethren? when ye come together, according as euery one of you hath a Psalme, or hath doctrine, or hath a tongue, or hath reuelation, or hath interpretation, let all things be done vnto edifying.
27 Коли хто (чужою) мовою говорить, (говоріть) по двоє, а найбільш по троє, і чергами, а один нехай вияснює.
If any man speake a strange tongue, let it be by two, or at the most, by three, and that by course, and let one interprete.
28 Коли ж нема вияснювателя, то нехай мовчить у церкві; собі ж нехай говорить та Богові.
But if there be no interpreter, let him keepe silence in the Church, which speaketh languages, and let him speake to himselfe, and to God.
29 Пророки ж нехай по двоє і по троє говорять, а инші нехай міркують.
Let the Prophets speake two, or three, and let the other iudge.
30 Коли ж другому, що сидить, одкриєть ся (що), перший нехай мовчить.
And if any thing be reueiled to another that sitteth by, let the first holde his peace.
31 Можете бо всї один за одним пророкувати, щоб усї навчались і всі утішались.
For ye may all prophecie one by one, that all may learne, and all may haue comfort.
32 І духи пророцькі пророкам корять ся.
And the spirits of the Prophets are subiect to the Prophets.
33 Не єсть бо Бог безладу, а впокою, як по всіх церквах у сьвятих.
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as we see in all ye Churches of the Saints.
34 Жінки ваші в церквах нехай мовчять; бо не дозволено їм говорити, а щоб корили ся, яко ж закон глаголе.
Let your women keepe silence in the Churches: for it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but they ought to be subiect, as also the Lawe sayth.
35 Коли ж хочуть чого навчитись, нехай дома в своїх чоловіків питають; сором бо жінкам у церкві говорити.
And if they will learne any thing, let them aske their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speake in the Church.
36 Хиба од вас слово Боже вийшло? або до вас одних досягло?
Came the worde of God out from you? either came it vnto you onely?
37 Коли хто думає пророком бути або духовним, нехай розуміє, що те що пишу вам, се заповіді Господні.
If any man thinke him selfe to be a Prophet, or spirituall, let him acknowledge, that the things, that I write vnto you, are the commandements of the Lord.
38 Коли ж хто не розуміє, нехай не розуміє.
And if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Тимже, браттє, бажайте пророкувати, та й говорити мовами не боронїть.
Wherefore, brethren, couet to prophecie, and forbid not to speake languages.
40 Усе нехай поважно та до ладу робить ся.
Let all things be done honestly, and by order.
