2 Timoteos 2
1 Oğlum, Mesih İsa'da olan lütufla güçlen.
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus:
2 Birçok tanık önünde benden işittiğin sözleri, başkalarına da öğretmeye yeterli olacak güvenilir kişilere emanet et.
and the things which thou hast heard from me, before many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3 Mesih İsa'nın iyi bir askeri olarak benimle birlikte sıkıntıya göğüs ger.
Do thou therefore endure hardship, as becomes a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 Askerlik yapan kişi günlük yaşamla ilgili işlere karışmaz; kendisini askerliğe çağıranı hoşnut etmeye çalışır.
No one, that enters into military service, embarrasseth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him.
5 Bunun gibi, spor yarışmasına katılan kişi de kurallar uyarınca yarışmazsa zafer tacını giyemez.
And if any one contend in the public games, he gains not the crown unless he contend fairly.
6 Emek veren çiftçi üründen ilk payı alan kişi olmalıdır.
The husbandman must labour first, in order to partake of the fruits.
7 Dediklerimi iyi düşün. Rab sana her konuda anlayış verecektir.
Consider what I say, and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
8 Yaydığım Müjde'de açıklandığı gibi, Davut'un soyundan olup ölümden dirilmiş olan İsa Mesih'i anımsa.
Remember Jesus Christ of the seed of David, who was raised from the dead, according to my gospel:
9 Bu Müjde uğruna bir suçlu gibi zincire vurulmaya kadar varan sıkıntılara katlanıyorum. Ama Tanrı'nın sözü zincire vurulmuş değildir.
for whose sake I suffer trouble even unto bonds, as if I were a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound.
10 Bunun içindir ki, seçilmişler uğruna her şeye dayanıyorum. Öyle ki, onlar da sonsuz yüceliğin yanısıra Mesih İsa'da olan kurtuluşa kavuşsunlar. (aiōnios g166)
Therefore I submit to every thing for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is by Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
11 Şu güvenilir bir sözdür: “O'nunla birlikte öldüysek, O'nunla birlikte yaşayacağız.
It is an undoubted truth, if we are dead with Him, we shall also live with Him:
12 Dayanırsak, O'nunla birlikte egemenlik süreceğiz. O'nu inkâr edersek, O da bizi inkâr edecek.
if we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we disown Him, He will also disown us.
13 Biz sadık kalmasak da, O sadık kalacak. Çünkü kendi özüne aykırı davranamaz.”
If we are unfaithful, He continueth faithful notwithstanding; He cannot renounce Himself.
14 Bu konuları imanlılara anımsat. Dinleyenleri felakete sürüklemekten başka yararı olmayan kelime kavgaları çıkarmamaları için onları Tanrı'nın önünde uyar.
These things remind them of, charging them before the Lord not to contend about words, which is profitable for nothing, and tends to the subversion of the hearers.
15 Kendini Tanrı'ya makbul, gerçeğin bildirisini doğru kullanan, alnı ak bir işçi olarak sunmaya gayret et.
Endeavour to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 Bayağı, boş sözlerden sakın. Çünkü bunlara dalanlar tanrısızlıkta daha da ileri gidecekler.
But avoid prophane empty harangues; for they will proceed to more impiety,
17 Sözleri kangren gibi yayılacak. Himeneos'la Filitos bunlardandır.
and their discourse will eat like a gangrene. Of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus; who have erred from the truth,
18 Diriliş olup bitti diyerek gerçek yoldan saptılar. Şimdi de bazılarının imanını altüst ediyorlar.
saying that the resurrection is already past; and subvert the faith of some.
19 Ne var ki, Tanrı'nın attığı sağlam temel, “Rab kendine ait olanları bilir” ve “Rab'bin adını anan herkes kötülükten uzak dursun” sözleriyle mühürlenmiş olarak duruyor.
However, the foundation of God standeth firm, having this inscription, The Lord knoweth them that are his; and, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 Büyük bir evde yalnız altın ve gümüş kaplar bulunmaz; tahta ve toprak kaplar da vardır. Kimi onurlu, kimi bayağı iş için kullanılır.
In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, some for meaner uses.
21 Bunun gibi, kişi de kendini bayağı işlerden arıtırsa, onurlu amaçlara uygun, kutsal kılınmış, efendisine yararlı, her iyi işe hazır bir kap olur.
If therefore any one purify himself from these corruptions, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified and fitted for the Master's use, being prepared for every good work.
22 Gençlik arzularından kaç. Temiz yürekle Rab'be yakaranlarla birlikte doğruluğun, imanın, sevginin ve esenliğin ardından koş.
Flee youthful passions: and follow righteousness, fidelity, love, and peace, with all those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart:
23 Saçma, cahilce tartışmalara girmeyi reddet. Bunların kavga doğurduğunu bilirsin.
but foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they produce quarrels; for the servant of the Lord ought not to wrangle,
24 Rab'bin kulu kavgacı olmamalı. Tersine, herkese şefkatle davranmalı, öğretme yeteneği olmalı, haksızlıklara sabırla dayanmalıdır.
but to be gentle towards all men, ready to teach, patient under injuries,
25 Kendisine karşı olanları yumuşak huyla yola getirmeli. Gerçeği anlamaları için Tanrı belki onlara bir tövbe yolu açar.
with meekness instructing those of different sentiments, not knowing but God may give them repentance to the acknowledgement of the truth;
26 Böylelikle ayılabilir, isteğini yerine getirmeleri için kendilerini tutsak eden İblis'in tuzağından kurtulabilirler.
and they may awake out of the snare of the devil, who have been captivated by him to his will.
