1 Ko hono fakaʻosi ʻe hoku kāinga, ke mou fiefia ʻi he ʻEiki. Ko ʻeku tohi ʻae ngaahi meʻa pe ko ia kiate kimoutolu, ʻoku ʻikai siʻi ko ha fakafiu kiate au, pea ʻoku ʻaonga kiate kimoutolu.

To sum up: my dear friends, delight in the Lord! It's not a burden for me to repeat these things to you—it's to keep you safe!

2 Vakai telia ʻae fanga kulī, vakai telia ʻae kau ngāue kovi, vakai telia ʻae kau tuʻusi.

Watch out for the wolves, those who do evil, those who insist on physical circumcision—

3 He ko e kamu ʻakitautolu, ʻoku tauhi ki he ʻOtua ʻi he laumālie, mo fiefia ʻia Kalaisi Sisu, pea ʻoku ʻikai ke tau falala ki he kakano.

for it's we who are truly circumcised, worshiping by the Spirit of God, placing our assurance in Christ Jesus. We have no confidence in human abilities—

4 Ka teu faʻa maʻu nai ʻeau ha falalaʻanga ʻi he kakano. Kapau ʻoku mahalo ʻe ha taha ʻoku ai ha meʻa ʻi he kakano ʻe ʻaonga ʻene falala ki ai, ʻoku lahi kiate au:

for if there was a way to rely on human nature then I myself could have that confidence! If anyone thinks they have confidence in such human things, then I outdo them:

5 Naʻe kamu au ʻi hono valu ʻoe ʻaho, mei he hako ʻo ʻIsileli, mei he faʻahinga ʻo Penisimani, ko e Hepelū ʻoe kau Hepelū; pea ʻi he meʻa ʻae fono ko e Fālesi;

I was circumcised on the eighth day, I'm an Israelite of the tribe of Benjamin, a true Hebrew. Regarding legal observance I'm a Pharisee;

6 Pea ʻi he fai feinga, ne u fakatanga ʻae siasi; pea ʻi he māʻoniʻoni ʻoku mei he fono, ne u taʻehala ai.

as for religious dedication I was a persecutor of the church; while in regard to doing right according to the law I was blameless!

7 Ka ko e ngaahi meʻa ko ia naʻe ʻaonga kiate au, naʻaku lau ia ko e meʻa ke siʻaki koeʻuhi ko Kalaisi.

But in whatever way such things gained me anything, I count them as a loss for Christ.

8 ‌ʻIo, ko e moʻoni, pea ʻoku ou lau ʻae ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ko e meʻa ke siʻaki koeʻuhi ko hono lelei lahi ʻaupito ʻoe ʻilo ʻo Kalaisi Sisu ko hoku ʻEiki: ʻaia kuo u kātaki ai hono liaki ʻoe ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē, pea ʻoku ou lau ia ko e kinohaʻa, kae kehe ke u maʻu ʻa Kalaisi,

Truly, I count everything as loss in exchange for the incredible benefit I've gained through knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I've thrown away all these things for him, and consider them trash, so that I might gain Christ.

9 Pea ke ʻilo au ʻiate ia, ʻo ʻikai ʻi heʻeku fakatonuhia ʻaʻaku, ʻaia ʻoku mei he fono ka ko ia ʻoku ʻi he tui kia Kalaisi, ko e fakatonuhia ʻaia ʻoku mei he ʻOtua ʻi he tui:

I want to be found in him, not being right because of what I've done, or what the law requires, but made right through confidence in Christ, set right by God through trusting in him.

10 Koeʻuhi ke u ʻiloʻi ia, mo e mālohi ʻo ʻene toetuʻu, peau kau ʻi heʻene ngaahi mamahi, ʻi he fakatatau au ki heʻene pekia;

I want to really know him, and the power of his resurrection—to take part in his suffering and become like him in his death,

11 Kapau teu faʻa lavaʻi ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē ʻae toetuʻu mei he mate.

so that somehow I might be part of the resurrection from the dead!

12 Kae ʻikai hangē kuo u maʻu, pe teu haohaoa eni: ka ʻoku ou tuli atu, koeʻuhi ke u lavaʻi ʻaia kuo lavaʻi ai au foki ʻe Kalaisi Sisu.

Not that I've already got it all, or that I'm already perfect—but I run so that I might win what was won for me by Christ Jesus.

13 ‌ʻE kāinga, ʻoku ʻikai teu pehē kuo u lavaʻi: ka ko eni pe taha, ʻoku ou fakangaloʻi ʻae ngaahi meʻa ki mui, kau mafao atu ki he ngaahi meʻa ki muʻa,

My friends, I don't consider that I've already won, but this is my one objective: disregarding what is behind me, I strain forward to what is in front of me.

14 ‌ʻOku ou mafao atu ki he fakaʻilonga, ko e koloa ʻoe ui māʻolunga ʻae ʻOtua ʻia Kalaisi Sisu.

I run towards the finish line to win the prize of God's invitation to heaven through Christ Jesus.

15 Ko ia ke loto pehē ʻakitautolu kuo haohaoa: pea kapau ʻoku ai ha meʻa ʻoku mou loto taʻetatau ai, ʻe fakahā foki eni ʻe he ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu.

Those of us who are spiritually mature should think like this, and if you think anything different, then God will reveal this to you.

16 Ka ko ia kuo tau lavaʻi, ke tau ʻaʻeva ʻi he meʻa fua pe ko ia, ke tau tokanga ki he meʻa ko ia.

We just need to make sure that we follow what we already have understood.

17 E kāinga, ke mou kaunga faʻifaʻitaki kiate au, pea vakai kiate kinautolu ʻoku ʻaʻeva ʻo taau mo ʻemau faʻifaʻitakiʻanga kiate kimoutolu.

My friends, copy my example as others do and take note of the way to behave since you have us as a model.

18 (He ʻoku ʻaʻeva ʻae tokolahi, ʻakinautolu kuo liunga lahi ʻeku lea ai kiate kimoutolu, pea ʻoku ou toe lea ai eni mo tangi, ko e kau fili [ʻakinautolu ]ki he ʻakau ʻo Kalaisi:

The way some people live makes them enemies of the cross of Christ—as I've often told you before and repeat again though it pains me so much I want to weep.

19 Ko honau ngataʻanga ko e ʻauha, ʻoku nau ʻotua ʻaki honau kete, ʻo vikiviki ʻi he meʻa fakamā, ʻonau moʻua ki he meʻa fakamama.)

They will end up being completely lost, these people whose “god” is their physical desires and who are proud of what they should be ashamed of, thinking only about the things of this world.

20 He ʻoku ʻi he langi hotau kolo; ʻaia ʻoku tau ʻamanaki mei ai foki ʻae Fakamoʻui, ko e ʻEiki, ko Sisu Kalaisi.

But our homeland is heaven, and we're waiting for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from there too.

21 ‌ʻAia te ne fakafoʻou hotau sino kovi ni, ʻo fakatatau ia ki he sino ʻo hono nāunau, ʻi he mālohi ko ia ʻaia ʻoku ne mafai ai ke fakamoʻulaloaʻi ʻae ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē kiate ia.

He will re-create our defective human bodies so that they will be made like his glorious body using the power by which he brings everything under his control.
