< Filipai 1 >

1 Ko Paula mo Timote, ko e ongo tamaioʻeiki ʻa Sisu Kalaisi, ki he kāinga māʻoniʻoni kotoa pē ʻia Kalaisi Sisu, ʻoku ʻi Filipai, mo e kau tauhi mo e kau akonaki:
Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus that are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Ke ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻaloʻofa, mo e monūʻia, mei he ʻOtua ko ʻetau Tamai, pea mo e ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi.
grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 ‌ʻOku ou fakafetaʻi ki hoku ʻOtua ʻi heʻeku manatu kotoa pē kiate kimoutolu,
I thank my God on every remembrance of you―
4 ‌ʻO hūfekina fiefia maʻuaipē ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻi heʻeku lotu kotoa pē,
always in every supplication of mine for you all, making my supplication with joy―
5 Koeʻuhi ko hoʻomou kau fakataha ʻi he ongoongolelei talu mei he ʻuluaki ʻaho ʻo aʻu ki heni;
for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day till now:
6 ‌ʻOku ou ʻilo pau ʻae meʻa ko eni, koeʻuhi ko ia kuo ne kamata ʻae ngāue lelei ʻiate kimoutolu, te ne fakahaohaoa ia ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ʻo Sisu Kalaisi:
being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you, will carry it on till the day of Jesus Christ;
7 ‌ʻO hangē ʻoku taau mo au ke pehē ʻeku ʻamanaki kiate kimoutolu kotoa pē, koeʻuhi ʻoku mou ʻi hoku loto; pea ʻi hoku ngaahi haʻi, mo ʻeku langomaki mo ʻeku fakamoʻoni ki he ongoongolelei, ʻoku mou kau fakataha kotoa pē ʻi hoku lelei.
as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I say I have you in my heart; both in my bonds and in my defense and confirmation of the gospel, I say I have you all in my heart as being joint partakers of my grace.
8 He ko hoku fakamoʻoni ʻae ʻOtua, ki he lahi ʻaupito ʻo ʻeku holi kiate kimoutolu kotoa pē ʻi he manava ʻo Sisu Kalaisi.
For God is my witness how ardently I love you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
9 Pea ko ʻeku lotu eni, ke tupulekina hoʻomou ʻofa ʻo lahi, pea lahi hake ʻi he ʻilo mo e angafakapotopoto kotoa pē;
I also pray for this, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all understanding,
10 Koeʻuhi ke mou ʻahiʻahiʻi ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻoku fai kehekehe; ka mou angatotonu mo taʻehalaia ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ʻo Kalaisi;
in order that you may distinguish things that differ, to the end that you may be pure and blameless till the day of Christ,
11 Ke fakafonu ʻaki ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi fua ʻoe māʻoniʻoni, ʻaia ʻoku ia Sisu Kalaisi, ke ongoongolelei ai mo fakafetaʻi ai ki he ʻOtua.
being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which fruit is by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
12 Pea ko hoku loto ke mou ʻilo, ʻe kāinga, ko e ngaahi meʻa [naʻe tō ]kiate au kuo iku ia ʻi he fakatupulekina pe ʻoe ongoongolelei;
But I wish you to know, brethren, that the things which have befallen me have turned out rather to the advancement of the gospel;
13 Ko ia kuo ʻilo ai ʻi he fale kotoa ʻoe tuʻi, mo e ngaahi potu kehekehe kotoa pē, ʻa hoku ngaahi haʻi koeʻuhi ko Kalaisi:
so that my bonds which are for Christ have become known to be such in all the palace, and in all other places;
14 Pea ko e kāinga tokolahi ʻi he ʻEiki, kuo nau loto mālohi ko e meʻa ʻi hoku ngaahi haʻi, pea ʻāsili ai honau lototoʻa ke lea ʻaki ʻae folofola ʻo taʻemanavahē.
and most of the brethren in the Lord, having confidence in my bonds, are more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Ko e moʻoni ʻoku malangaʻaki ʻa Kalaisi ʻe he niʻihi ʻi he meheka mo e fakakikihi; pea fai loto lelei pe ʻe he niʻihi:
Some, indeed, preach the Christ, because of envy and a contentious disposition, and some because of good-will.
16 Ko e niʻihi ʻoku malangaʻaki ʻa Kalaisi ʻi he kikihi, kae ʻikai ʻi he loto maʻa, [ʻonau ]ʻamanaki ke fakalahi ʻaki ʻae mamahi ki hoku ngaahi haʻi.
These do it from love, because they know that I am set for the defense of the gospel;
17 Ka ko e niʻihi ʻi he ʻofa, ʻo ʻilo kuo fokotuʻu au ko e langomekina ʻoe ongoongolelei.
those preach Christ from a contentious disposition, not sincerely, thinking that they will add affliction to my bonds.
18 Pea fēfē ai? Ko eni, ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē, ʻi he kākā, pe ʻi he moʻoni, ʻoku malangaʻaki ʻa Kalaisi; pea ko ia ʻoku ou fiefia ai, ʻio, pea teu fiefia.
What difference does this make? Christ is, nevertheless, preached in every way, whether in pretense or in truth; and in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice:
19 He ʻoku ou ʻilo ʻe kau eni ki hoku fakamoʻui ʻi hoʻomou lotu, mo e foaki ʻoe Laumālie ʻo Sisu Kalaisi,
for I know that this will result in my benefit through your supplication, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20 ‌ʻO fakatatau ki heʻeku holi lahi mo e ʻamanaki lelei, ke ʻoua naʻa ai ha meʻa te u mā ai, ka ʻi he fai mālohi lahi, ke hangē ko ia ʻi muʻa, ke pehē eni foki, ʻae fakaongolelei ʻa Kalaisi ʻi hoku sino, ʻi he moʻui, pe ʻi he mate.
according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but with all boldness, as at all times, so even now, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
21 He ko e moʻui kiate au ko Kalaisi ia, ka ʻe ʻaonga lahi ʻae mate.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 Pea kapau teu moʻui ʻi he sino, ko hono fua eni ʻo ʻeku ngāue: ka ʻoku ʻikai te u ʻiloa ʻaia te u fili ki ai.
But if this, my life in the flesh, would be profitable for my work in the ministry, verily, what I should choose I know not.
23 He ʻoku ʻefihia au ʻi he meʻa ʻe ua, ʻoku ou holi ke ʻalu, ke u ʻia Kalaisi; ʻaia ʻoku lelei lahi ʻaupito:
I am in a strait between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better:
24 Ka ko e nofo ʻi he sino ʻoku ʻaonga lahi ia kiate kimoutolu.
yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 Pea ʻi heʻeku ʻilo eni, ʻoku ou ʻilo teu moʻui ʻo nonofo mo kimoutolu kotoa pē, ka ʻe tupulekina ai hoʻomou tui mo e fiefia;
And of this I feel assured, that I shall remain and continue among you all for your advancement and joy in the faith,
26 Pea ke tupulekina ʻaupito ai hoʻomou fiefia ʻia Sisu Kalaisi koeʻuhi ko au, ʻi heʻeku toe ʻalu atu kiate kimoutolu.
that your rejoicing in Christ Jesus may become more abundant through me by my being present among you again.
27 Kae kehe, ke taau hoʻomou ʻulungāanga mo e ongoongolelei ʻa Kalaisi: koeʻuhi ka ai haʻaku ʻalu atu ʻo vakai kiate kimoutolu, pe teu mamaʻo, te u fanongo pe ki hoʻomou ngāue, ʻoku mou tuʻumaʻu ʻi he loto pe taha, ʻo uouangataha pe, ʻo feinga fakataha ʻi he tui ki he ongoongolelei;
Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of the Christ, that, whether I come and see you, or be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,
28 Pea ʻoua naʻa ilifia ʻi ha meʻa mei homou ngaahi fili: he ko e fakaʻilonga ia kiate kinautolu ʻoe malaʻia, ka ʻoe fakamoʻui kiate kimoutolu, pea ʻoku mei he ʻOtua ia.
and in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
29 He kuo tuku kiate kimoutolu koeʻuhi ko Kalaisi, ke ʻoua naʻa ngata ʻi he tui pe kiate ia, ka kemou mamahi foki koeʻuhi ko ia;
For to you it is given in behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but, also, to suffer for him,
30 ‌ʻI he tauʻi ʻakimoutolu, ʻo hangē ko ia naʻa mou mamata ai ʻiate au, pea fanongo eni ʻoku ʻiate au.
since you have the same conflict that you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
