< Mātiu 7 >

1 “ʻOua naʻa mou fakamaau, telia naʻa fakamaaua ʻakimoutolu.
"Judge not, that you may not be judged;
2 He ko e anga ko ia ʻoku mou fakamaau ʻaki, ʻe fakamaaua ai ʻakimoutolu: pea ko e fuofua ko ia te mo fua ʻaki, ʻe toe fua ʻaki ia kiate kimoutolu.
for your own judgement will be dealt--and your own measure meted--to yourselves.
3 Pea ko e hā ʻoku ke tokanga ai ki he malamalaʻi ʻakau ʻoku ʻi he mata ʻo ho kāinga, ka ʻoku ʻikai te ke tokanga ki he fuʻu ʻakau ʻoku ʻi ho mata ʻoʻou?
And why do you look at the splinter in your brother's eye, and not notice the beam which is in your own eye?
4 Pea ʻe fēfē haʻo faʻa pehē ki ho kāinga, ‘Tuku ke u toʻoa mai ʻae malamalaʻi ʻakau mei ho mata:’ kae vakai, [ʻoku ai ]ʻae fuʻu ʻakau ʻi ho mata ʻoʻou?
Or how say to your brother, 'Allow me to take the splinter out of your eye,' while the beam is in your own eye?
5 Ko e mālualoi koe, tomuʻa, lī ʻae fuʻu ʻakau mei ho mata ʻoʻou; pea te ke toki mamata totonu ke toʻo ʻae malamalaʻi ʻakau mei he mata ʻo ho kāinga.
Hypocrite, first take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to remove the splinter from your brother's eye.
6 “ʻOua naʻa ʻoatu ʻae meʻa māʻoniʻoni ki he fanga kulī, pe sī hoʻomou mataʻitofe ki he fanga puaka, telia naʻa nau malamalaki ia ʻi honau lalo vaʻe, pea foki mai ʻo haehae ʻakimoutolu.
"Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor throw your pearls to the swine; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and then turn and attack you.
7 “Kole, pea ʻe foaki ia kiate kimoutolu; kumi, pea te mou ʻilo; tukituki, pea ʻe toʻo ia kiate kimoutolu:
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
8 He ko ia kotoa pē ʻoku kole, ʻoku ne maʻu; pea ko ia ʻoku kumi, ʻoku ne ʻilo; pea ko ia ʻoku tukituki, ʻe toʻo kiate ia.
For it is always he who asks that receives, he who seeks that finds, and he who knocks that has the door opened to him.
9 He ko e tangata fē ʻiate kimoutolu, kapau ʻe kole mā ʻe hono foha, te ne ʻoange ki ai ha maka?
What man is there among you, who if his son shall ask him for bread will offer him a stone?
10 Pe kapau te ne kole ha ika, ʻe ʻoange ki ai ha ngata?
Or if the son shall ask him for a fish will offer him a snake?
11 Ko ia kapau ʻoku mou ʻilo, ka ko e angakovi, ke foaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa lelei ki hoʻomou fānau, ʻe fēfē hono lahi hake ʻoe [fie ]foaki ʻae ngaahi lelei ʻe hoʻomou Tamai ʻoku ʻi he langi kiate kinautolu ʻoku kole kiate ia?
If you then, imperfect as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
12 Ko ia, ko e meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku mou loto ke fai ʻe he kakai kiate kimoutolu, ke mou fai ia kiate kinautolu: he ko e fono ia mo e kau palōfita.
Everything, therefore, be it what it may, that you would have men do to you, do you also the same to them; for in this the Law and the Prophets are summed up.
13 “Mou hū ʻi he matapā fāsiʻi: he ʻoku fālahi ʻae matapā, mo ʻataʻatā ʻae hala, ʻoku fakatau ki he mate, pea ʻoku hū ai ʻae tokolahi.
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad the road which leads to ruin, and many there are who enter by it;
14 Koeʻuhi ʻoku fāsiʻi ʻae matapā, mo lausiʻi ʻae hala, ʻoku fakatau ki he moʻui, pea ʻoku ʻilo ia ʻe he tokosiʻi pe.
because narrow is the gate and contracted the road which leads to Life, and few are those who find it.
15 “Vakai telia ʻae kau palōfita kākā, ʻoku haʻu kiate kimoutolu ʻoku kofu fakasipi, ka ko e fanga ulofi fekai ʻi loto ʻakinautolu.
"Beware of the false teachers--men who come to you in sheep's fleeces, but beneath that disguise they are ravenous wolves.
16 Te mou ʻilo ʻakinautolu ʻi honau ngaahi fua. He ʻoku toli ʻe he kakai ʻae fua ʻoe vaine ʻi he ʻakau talatala, pe ko e fiki ʻi he talatalaʻāmoa?
By their fruits you will easily recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thorns or figs from brambles?
17 Pea pehē, ʻoku tupu ʻi he ʻakau lelei kotoa pē ʻae fua lelei; kae tupu ʻi he ʻakau kovi ʻae fua kovi.
Just so every good tree produces good fruit, but a poisonous tree produces bad fruit.
18 ‌ʻE ʻikai faʻa tupu ʻi he ʻakau lelei ʻae fua kovi, pe tupu ʻi he ʻakau kovi ʻae fua lelei.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a poisonous tree good fruit.
19 Ko e ʻakau kotoa pē ʻoku ʻikai tupu ai ʻae fua lelei ʻoku tā hifo, pea laku ki he afi.
Every tree which does not yield good fruit is cut down and thrown aside for burning.
20 Ko ia te mou ʻilo ʻakinautolu ʻi honau ngaahi fua.
So by their fruits at any rate, you will easily recognize them.
21 “ʻE ʻikai hū ki he puleʻanga ʻoe langi ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku pehē mai kiate au, ‘ʻEiki, ʻEiki,’ ka ko ia ʻoku ne fai ʻae finangalo ʻo ʻeku Tamai ʻoku ʻi he langi.
"Not every one who says to me, 'Master, Master,' will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens, but only those who are obedient to my Father who is in Heaven.
22 ‌ʻE pehē kiate au ʻe he tokolahi ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, ‘ʻEiki, ʻEiki, ʻikai naʻa mau akonaki ʻi ho huafa? Pea ʻi ho huafa naʻa mau kapusi kituʻa ʻae kau tēvolo? Pea ʻi ho huafa naʻa mau fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa mana lahi?’
Many will say to me on that day, "'Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Thy name, and in Thy name expelled demons, and in Thy name performed many mighty works?'
23 Pea te u toki fakahā kiate kinautolu, ‘Naʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te u ʻiloa ʻakimoutolu: ʻalu ʻiate au ʻakimoutolu ʻoku fai kovi.’
"And then I will tell them plainly, "'I never knew you: begone from me, you doers of wickedness.'
24 “Ko ia ʻoku ne fanongo ki heʻeku tala ni, pea fai ki ai, te u fakatatau ia ki he tangata poto, naʻe langa hono fale ʻi he [funga ]maka:
"Every one who hears these my teachings and acts upon them will be found to resemble a wise man who builds his house upon rock;
25 Pea tō ʻae ʻuha, pea ʻoho mai ʻae vai, pea hoko mo e havili, ʻo tō ki he fale ko ia; ka naʻe ʻikai holo ia: he naʻe langa ia ʻi he funga maka.
and the heavy rain falls, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and beat against the house; yet it does not fall, for its foundation is on rock.
26 “Ka ko ia ia ʻoku fanongo ki heʻeku ngaahi tala ni, pea ʻikai fai ki ai, ʻe fakatatau ia ki he tangata vale, ʻaia naʻe langa hono fale ʻi he ʻoneʻone:
And every one who hears these my teachings and does not act upon them will be found to resemble a fool who builds his house upon sand.
27 Pea tō ʻae ʻuha, pea ʻoho mai ʻae vai, pea hoko mo e havili, ʻo tō ki he fale ko ia; pea holo ia: pea ko e meʻa lahi ʻa hono holoki.”
The heavy rain descends, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and burst upon the house, and it falls; and disastrous is the fall."
28 Pea kuo fakaʻosi ʻe Sisu ʻae ngaahi tala ni, pea ofo ʻae kakai ʻi heʻene akonaki:
When Jesus had concluded this discourse, the crowds were filled with amazement at His teaching,
29 He naʻa ne akonakiʻi ʻakinautolu ʻo taau mo ia ʻoku mālohi, kae ʻikai hangē ko e kau tangata tohi.
for He had been teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their Scribes taught.
