< ʻIsaia 5 >

1 “Ko eni te u hiva ki hoku ʻofaʻanga ʻaki ʻae hiva, ʻo ia ʻoku ou mamana ki ai, ʻoku kau ki heʻene ngoue vaine. ʻOku maʻu ʻe hoku ʻofaʻanga ʻae ngoue vaine ʻi he moʻunga kelekele moʻui:
Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
2 Pea naʻa ne ʻāʻi ia, mo fetuku mei ai ʻae ngaahi maka, pea ne tō ʻi ai ʻae ngaahi vaine lelei lahi, mo ne langa ʻae fale leʻo ki ai, pea naʻe ngaohi foki ʻi ai ʻae tataʻoʻanga uaine: pea ne ʻamanaki ʻe tupu ai ʻae ngaahi kālepi, ka naʻe tupu ai ʻae kālepi vao pe.
And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
3 “Pea ko eni ʻae kakai ʻo Selūsalema, mo e kau tangata ʻo Siuta, ʻoku ou kōlenga ke mou fakamaau kiate au mo ʻeku ngoue vaine.
And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
4 Ko e hā mo ha meʻa ʻe faʻa fai ki heʻeku ngoue vaine, ʻoku teʻeki te u fai ki ai? Ko e hā kuo u ʻamanaki ki he tupu ai ʻae ngaahi kālepi, ka kuo tupu pe ʻae fua kona?
What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
5 Pea ko eni; te u fakahā kiate kimoutolu ʻaia te u fai ki heʻeku ngoue vaine: te u toʻo mei ai ʻā hono ʻā, pea ʻe keina ia ʻo ʻosi; pea ʻe holoki ʻā hono maka, pea ʻe malaki hifo ia:
And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
6 Pea te u liʻaki ia: ʻe ʻikai ʻauhani ia, pe keli; ka e tupu ʻi ai ʻae ngaahi ʻakau talatala: pea te u fekau foki ki he ngaahi ʻao ke ʻoua naʻa ʻuha ki ai.
And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7 He ko e ngoue vaine ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e fale ʻo ʻIsileli ia, pea ko e kau tangata ʻo Siuta, ko ʻene ʻakau toulekeleka: pea naʻa ne ʻamanaki ki he fakamaau, kae vakai ko e fakamālohi; ki he māʻoniʻoni, kae vakai ko e tangi.”
For the vineyard of Yhwh of Armies is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
8 ‌ʻE malaʻia ʻakinautolu ʻoku fakahoko ʻae fale ki he fale, ʻonau ai ʻae ʻapi ki he ʻapi, ke ʻoua naʻa toe ha potu, koeʻuhi ke māʻolunga taha pe ʻakinautolu ʻi he fonua!
Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
9 Naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ki hoku telinga, “Ko e moʻoni ʻe lahi ʻae fale ʻe lala, ʻio, ʻe ʻikai kakai ʻae ngaahi fale lahi mo lelei.
In mine ears said Yhwh of Armies, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
10 He ko e ngoue vaine, ko e ʻeka ʻe hongofulu hono lahi, ʻe maʻu mei ai ʻae pate pe taha, pea ko e homa ʻe taha ʻoe tenga, ʻe utu mei ai ha efa pe taha.”
Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.
11 ‌ʻE malaʻia ʻakinautolu ʻoku tuʻu hengihengi hake, ke kumi ki he kava mālohi; pea nofo ʻo aʻu ki he pō, kaeʻoua ke nau kona ʻi he uaine!
Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
12 Pea ʻoku ʻi heʻenau ngaahi kātoanga ʻae haʻape, mo e vaiole, mo e lali, mo e mimiha, mo e uaine: ka ʻoku ʻikai te nau tokanga ki he ngāue ʻa Sihova, pe vakai ki he ngāue ʻa hono nima.
And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of Yhwh, neither consider the operation of his hands.
13 Ko ia kuo ʻave pōpula ai ʻa hoku kakai, koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai ʻiate kinautolu ʻae ʻilo: pea kuo fiekaia honau kau tangata ongoongo, pea mo honau tokolahi ʻoku mate fieinu.
Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
14 Ko ia kuo fakalahi ai ʻa heli ʻe ia, mo fakamanga lahi ʻaupito hono ngutu: pea ʻe ʻalu hifo ki ai honau mālohi, mo honau tokolahi, mo ʻenau laukau, mo ia ʻoku fiefia. (Sheol h7585)
Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. (Sheol h7585)
15 Pea ʻe fakahifo ki lalo ʻae lāuvale, pea ʻe fakavaivaiʻi mo e tangata mālohi, pea ʻe hifo ki lalo ʻae mata ʻoe fielahi:
And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
16 Ka e hiki hake ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻi he fakamaau, pea ʻe fakaongoongoleleiʻi ʻae ʻOtua māʻoniʻoni ʻi he angatonu.
But Yhwh of Armies shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.
17 Pea ʻe toki kai ʻae fanga lami ʻo hangē ko ʻenau anga, pea ʻe kai ʻe he muli ʻae ngaahi potu lala ʻoe kakai koloaʻia.
Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
18 ‌ʻE malaʻia ʻakinautolu ʻoku fusi ʻae angahala ʻaki ʻae afo ʻoe vaʻinga, pea fai hala ʻo hangē ko e maea mālohi:
Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
19 ‌ʻAkinautolu ʻoku pehē, “Tuku ke ne fai vave, pea fakatoʻotoʻo ʻene ngāue, ke tau mamata ki ai: pea tuku ke ʻunuʻunu mai pea haʻu ʻae tuʻutuʻuni ʻae tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli, koeʻuhi ke tau ʻilo ki ai!”
That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
20 ‌ʻE malaʻia ʻakinautolu ʻoku ui ʻae kovi ko e lelei, mo e lelei ko e kovi; ʻoku ui ʻae poʻuli ko e maama, mo e maama ko e poʻuli; ʻoku ui ʻae kona ko e melie, mo e melie ko e kona!
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 ‌ʻE malaʻia ʻakinautolu ʻoku poto ʻi honau mata ʻonautolu, mo kinautolu ʻoku pehē ʻoku nau fai fakapotopoto!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22 ‌ʻE malaʻia ʻakinautolu ʻoku mālohi ke inu uaine, mo e kau tangata mālohi ke felingiʻaki ʻae kava mālohi:
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 ‌ʻAkinautolu ʻoku fakatonuhiaʻi ʻae angahala koeʻuhi ko e totongi, ʻonau toʻo ʻae meʻa totonu ʻae māʻoniʻoni meiate ia!
Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 Ko ia, hangē ʻoku keina ʻe he afi ʻae veve, pea fakaʻauha ʻe he ulo afi ʻae louveve, ʻe popo pehē honau aka, pea ʻe puna hake honau fisi ʻo hangē ko e efu: koeʻuhi kuo nau liʻaki ʻae fono ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, pea kuo nau fehiʻa ki he folofola ʻae tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli.
Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of Yhwh of Armies, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Ko ia kuo tupu ai ʻae houhau ʻo Sihova ki hono kakai, pea kuo ne mafao hono nima kiate kinautolu, pea kuo ne taaʻi ʻakinautolu: pea naʻe tetetete ʻae ngaahi moʻunga, pea naʻe haehae honau ʻangaʻanga ʻi he ngaahi hala ʻoe kolo. Pea neongo ʻa eni kotoa pē ʻoku teʻeki ai ke taʻofi hono houhau, ka ʻoku kei mafao hono nima.
Therefore is the anger of Yhwh kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
26 Pea te ne hiki hake ʻae fuka ki he ngaahi puleʻanga mei he mamaʻo, pea te ne seseʻe ʻakinautolu mei he ngataʻanga ʻo māmani: pea vakai te nau haʻu vave mo fakatoʻotoʻo:
And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
27 ‌ʻE ʻikai vaivai pe humu ha taha ʻiate kinautolu, ʻe ʻikai ha taha ʻe tulemohe pe mohe pea ʻe ʻikai vete ʻae noʻo ʻi honau konga loto, pe motu ʻae nonoʻo ʻo honau topuvaʻe:
None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:
28 ‌ʻOku māsila ʻenau ngaahi ngahau, pea kuo teke ʻenau kaufana kotoa pē; ʻe fakatatau ki he maka afi ʻae pesipesi ʻo ʻenau fanga hoosi, pea ko ʻenau ngaahi saliote ʻe hangē ko e ʻahiohio:
Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:
29 Te nau ngungulu ʻo hangē ko e laione, te nau ngungulu ʻo hangē ko e fanga laione mui, ʻio, te nau ngungulu, pea puke ʻae meʻakai, pea te nau vete ia, pea ʻe ʻikai ha taha te ne taʻofi.
Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.
30 Pea ʻi he ʻaho ko ia te nau tangi kiate kinautolu ʻo hangē ko e ʻuʻulu ʻoe tahi: pea kapau ʻoku sio ha tokotaha ki he fonua, vakai ko e fakapoʻuli mo e mamahi, pea kuo fakapoʻuli ʻae maama ʻi he langi.
And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
