< Kau ʻAposetolo 5 >

1 Ka ko e tangata ʻe tokotaha ko ʻAnanaia hono hingoa, mo hono uaifi ko Sāfaila, naʻa na fakatau ʻae ʻapi,
But a certaine man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, solde a possession,
2 Pea naʻe taʻofi ʻe ia ʻae konga ʻo hono totongi, pea ʻilo foki ia ʻe hono uaifi, kae ʻomi pe hono konga, ʻo tuku ʻi he vaʻe ʻoe kau ʻaposetolo.
And kept away part of the price, his wife also being of counsell, and brought a certaine part, and layde it downe at the Apostles feete.
3 Ka naʻe pehē ʻe Pita, “ʻAnanaia, ko e hā kuo fakapito ai ho loto ʻe Sētane, ke ke loi ki he Laumālie Māʻoniʻoni, pea ke taʻofi ʻae konga ʻi he totongi ʻoe fonua?
Then saide Peter, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart, that thou shouldest lye vnto the holy Ghost, and keepe away part of the price of this possession?
4 Naʻe kei tuku pe, ʻikai naʻe ʻoʻou pe ia? Pea ka kuo fakatau ia, ʻikai te ke faʻiteliha pe ki ai? Ko e hā kuo tupu ai ʻae meʻa ni ʻi ho loto? ʻOku ʻikai ko hoʻo loi ki he tangata, ka ki he ʻOtua.”
Whiles it remained, appertained it not vnto thee? and after it was solde, was it not in thine owne power? howe is it that thou hast conceiued this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lyed vnto men, but vnto God.
5 Pea ʻi he fanongo ʻe ʻAnanaia ki he lea ni, naʻe tō ia ki lalo, ʻo mate: pea naʻe hoko ʻae manavahē lahi kiate kinautolu kotoa pē naʻe fanongo ki he ngaahi meʻa ni.
Now when Ananias heard these wordes, he fell downe, and gaue vp the ghost. Then great feare came on all them that heard these things.
6 Pea naʻe tuʻu hake ʻae kau talavou, ʻo fakakoloa ia, pea ʻave kituaʻā, ʻo tanu.
And the yong men rose vp, and tooke him vp, and caried him out, and buried him.
7 Pea hili nai ʻae feituʻulaʻā ʻe tolu, pea haʻu hono uaifi, kae teʻeki ʻilo ʻe ia ʻaia kuo fai.
And it came to passe about the space of three houres after, that his wife came in, ignorant of that which was done.
8 Pea pehē ʻe Pita kiate ia, “Tala mai, pe naʻa mo fakatau ʻae ʻapi ʻaki ʻae meʻa ni. Pea pehē ʻe ia, ʻIo, ʻaia pe.”
And Peter sayd vnto her, Tell me, solde ye the land for so much? And she sayd, Yea, for so much.
9 Pea pehē ai ʻe Pita kiate ia, “Ko e hā kuo mo alea ai ke ʻahiʻahiʻi ʻae Laumālie ʻoe ʻEiki? Vakai, ʻoku ʻi he matapā ʻae vaʻe ʻokinautolu kuo nau toki tanu ho husepāniti, pea te nau fata koe kituaʻā.”
Then Peter sayde vnto her, Why haue ye agreed together, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? beholde, the feete of them which haue buried thine husband, are at the doore, and shall carie thee out.
10 Pea ʻiloange, naʻe tō ki lalo ia ki hono vaʻe, pea mate: pea hū mai ʻae kau talavou, ʻo ʻilo kuo mate ia, pea ʻave ia kituaʻā, ʻo tanu ia mo hono husepāniti.
Then she fell downe straightway at his feete, and yeelded vp the ghost: and the yong men came in, and found her dead, and caried her out, and buried her by her husband.
11 Pea naʻe tō ʻae manavahē lahi ki he siasi kotoa pē, pea mo kinautolu kotoa pē naʻe fanongo ki he ngaahi meʻa ni.
And great feare came on all the Church, and on as many as heard these things.
12 Pea naʻe fai ʻe he nima ʻoe kau ʻaposetolo ʻae ngaahi mana mo e meʻa fakaofo lahi ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai; (pea naʻa nau fakataha kotoa pē ʻo loto taha ʻi he fale hala ʻo Solomone.
Thus by the hands of the Apostles were many signes and wonders shewed among the people (and they were all with one accorde in Salomons porche.
13 Pea ʻi hono toe naʻe ʻikai kau mo kinautolu ha tokotaha, ko ʻenau manavahē: ka naʻe fakaʻapaʻapa ʻae kakai kiate kinautolu.
And of the other durst no man ioyne him selfe to them: neuerthelesse the people magnified them.
14 Pea naʻe ului tokolahi ai ki he ʻEiki ʻae kakai tui, ko e tangata mo e fefine.)
Also the number of them that beleeued in the Lord, both of men and women, grewe more and more)
15 Ko ia naʻa nau fata ai ʻae ngaahi mahaki ki he ngaahi hala, ʻo fakatokoto ʻi he mohenga mo e tokotoʻanga, ke fakamalū honau niʻihi ʻaki ʻae ʻata ʻo Pita ʻi heʻene ʻalu ange.
In so much that they brought the sicke into the streetes, and layd them on beds and couches, that at the least way the shadowe of Peter, when he came by, might shadow some of them.
16 Pea naʻe haʻu foki ʻae tokolahi mei he ngaahi kolo ʻoku ofi ki Selūsalema, ke fetuku mai ʻae kakai mahaki, mo kinautolu naʻe mamahi ʻi he kau laumālie ʻuli: pea naʻe fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu kotoa pē.
There came also a multitude out of the cities round about vnto Hierusalem, bringing sicke folkes, and them which were vexed with vncleane spirits, who were all healed.
17 Pea toki tutuʻu hake ʻae taulaʻeiki lahi, mo kinautolu kotoa pē naʻe ʻiate ia, (i he faʻahinga ʻoe Sātusi, ) kuo nau fonu ʻi he ʻita,
Then the chiefe Priest rose vp, and all they that were with him (which was the sect of the Sadduces) and were full of indignation,
18 Pea naʻa nau puke ʻae kau ʻAposetolo, ʻo fakahū ʻakinautolu ki he fale fakapōpula lahi.
And laide hands on the Apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 Ka naʻe toʻo ʻae matapā ʻoe fale fakapōpula ʻe ha ʻāngelo ʻae ʻEiki ʻi he pō, pea ne ʻomi kituʻa ʻakinautolu, mo ne pehē,
But the Angel of the Lord, by night opened the prison doores, and brought them forth, and sayd,
20 “Mou ʻalu, ʻo tuʻu ʻi he falelotu lahi, pea malanga ki he kakai ʻaki ʻae lea kotoa pē ʻoe moʻui ni.”
Go your way, and stand in the Temple, and speake to the people, all the wordes of this life.
So when they heard it, they entred into the Temple early in the morning, and taught. And the chiefe Priest came, and they that were with him, and called the Councill together, and all the Elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison, to cause them to be brought.
22 Ka ʻi he hoko atu ʻae kau tangata fekau, ʻo ʻikai ʻilo ʻakinautolu ʻi he fale fakapōpula, naʻa nau liu mai, ʻo fakahā,
But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and tolde it,
23 ‌ʻO pehē, “Ko e moʻoni naʻa mau ʻilo ʻae fale fakapōpula ʻoku tāpuni maʻu, pea tutuʻu ʻituʻa ʻae kau leʻo ʻi he ngaahi matapā: ka ʻi heʻemau toʻo ia, naʻe ʻikai te mau ʻilo ʻi loto ha tokotaha.”
Saying, Certainely we founde the prison shut as sure as was possible, and the keepers standing without, before the doores: but when we had opened, we found no man within.
24 Pea kuo fanongo ki he ngaahi meʻa ni ʻae fungani taulaʻeiki mo e pule ʻoe falelotu lahi mo e kau taulaʻeiki lahi, naʻa nau fifili pe fēfē ai nai eni.
Then when the chiefe Priest, and the captaine of the Temple, and the hie Priestes heard these things, they doubted of them, whereunto this would growe.
25 Pea naʻe toki haʻu ʻae tokotaha, ʻo ne fakahā kiate kinautolu, ʻo pehē, “Vakai, ko e kau tangata naʻa mou fakahū ki he fale fakapōpula, ʻoku nau tutuʻu ʻi he falelotu lahi, ʻo ako ki he kakai.”
Then came one and shewed them, saying, Beholde, the men that ye put in prison, are standing in the Temple, and teach the people.
26 Pea ʻalu leva ʻae ʻeiki mo e kau tangata fekau, ʻo ʻomi fiemālie ʻakinautolu: he naʻa nau manavahē ki he kakai, telia naʻa tolongaki ʻaki ʻae maka ʻakinautolu.
Then went the captaine with the officers, and brought them without violence (for they feared the people, lest they should haue bene stoned)
27 Pea kuo nau omi, ʻo tuku ʻakinautolu ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kau fakamaau: pea naʻe fehuʻi ʻae fungani taulaʻeiki kiate kinautolu,
And when they had brought them, they set them before the Councill, and the chiefe Priest asked them,
28 ‌ʻO pehē, “ʻIkai naʻa mau mātuʻaki fekau kiate kimoutolu ke ʻoua naʻa mou ako ʻi he hingoa na? Pea vakai, kuo mou fakapito ʻa Selūsalema ʻaki hoʻomou akonaki, pea ko homou loto ke ʻomi ʻae toto ʻoe tangata ni kiate kimautolu.”
Saying, Did not we straightly commaund you, that ye should not teach in this Name? and behold, ye haue filled Hierusale with your doctrine, and ye would bring this mans blood vpon vs.
29 Pea toki lea ʻa Pita mo e kau ʻaposetolo, ʻo pehē, “ʻOku totonu ʻemau talangofua ki he ʻOtua ʻi he tangata.
Then Peter and the Apostles answered, and sayd, We ought rather to obey God then men.
30 Ko e ʻOtua ʻoe tau ngaahi tamai kuo ne fokotuʻu ʻa Sisu, ʻaia ne mou tāmateʻi ʻo tautau ʻi he ʻakau.
The God of our fathers hath raised vp Iesus, whom ye slewe, and hanged on a tree.
31 Pea kuo hakeakiʻi ia ʻe he ʻOtua ʻaki hono nima toʻomataʻu ko e ʻEiki mo e Fakamoʻui, ke foaki ʻae fakatomala ki ʻIsileli, mo e fakamolemole ʻoe angahala.
Him hath God lift vp with his right hand, to be a Prince and a Sauiour, to giue repentance to Israel, and forgiuenes of sinnes.
32 Pea ko ʻene kau fakamoʻoni ʻakimautolu ʻoe ngaahi meʻa ni; pea mo e Laumālie Māʻoniʻoni foki, ʻaia kuo foaki ʻe he ʻOtua kiate kinautolu ʻoku talangofua kiate ia.”
And we are his witnesses concerning these things which we say: yea, and the holy Ghost, whome God hath giuen to them that obey him.
33 Pea kuo nau fanongo eni, pea nau tekelili ʻi he ʻita, mo nau fakakaukau ke tāmateʻi ʻakinautolu.
Now when they heard it, they brast for anger, and consulted to slay them.
34 Pea toki tuʻu hake ha taha ʻi he kau fakamaau, ko e Fālesi, ko hono hingoa ko Kāmelieli, ko e akonaki ʻi he fono, pea naʻe ongoongolelei ia ʻi he kakai kotoa pē, pea fekau ʻe ia ke tuku siʻi atu kituaʻā ʻae kau ʻaposetolo;
Then stoode there vp in the Councill a certaine Pharise named Gamaliel, a doctour of the Lawe, honoured of all the people, and commanded to put the Apostles forth a litle space,
35 Pea ne pehē kiate kinautolu, “ʻAe kau tangata ʻo ʻIsileli, mou vakai pe ko e hā ʻae meʻa ʻoku mou tokanga ke fai ki he kau tangata ni.
And sayd vnto them, Men of Israel, take heede to your selues, what ye intende to doe touching these men.
36 He naʻe muʻa ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ni ʻae tuʻu ʻa Teutasi, ʻo ne pole ko e lahi ia; pea naʻe ʻalu mo ia ʻae kau tangata, ko e toko fāngeau nai: pea naʻe tāmateʻi ia; pea fakamovete ʻo ʻosi ʻakinautolu kotoa pē naʻe talangofua kiate ia.
For before these times, rose vp Theudas boasting himselfe, to whom resorted a number of men, about a foure hundreth, who was slaine: and they all which obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
37 Pea hoko mo e tangata ni ʻa Siutasi ʻo Kāleli, ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ʻoe tohi kakai, pea ne tataki ʻe ia ʻae kakai tokolahi: pea mate foki ia; pea naʻe fakamovete ʻakinautolu kotoa pē naʻe talangofua kiate ia.
After this man, arose vp Iudas of Galile, in the dayes of the tribute, and drewe away much people after him: hee also perished, and all that obeyed him, were scattered abroad.
38 Pea ko eni, ʻoku ou tala atu kiate kimoutolu, ʻoua naʻa fai ha meʻa ki he kau tangata ni, kae tuku ai pe ʻakinautolu: he kapau ʻoku mei he tangata ʻae fakakaukau ni mo e ngāue ni, ʻe ʻosi ia:
And nowe I say vnto you, Refraine your selues from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsell, or this worke be of men, it will come to nought:
39 Pea kapau ʻoku mei he ʻOtua, ʻe ʻikai te mou faʻa fakangata ia: telia naʻa ʻiloange kuo mou tauʻi ʻae ʻOtua.”
But if it be of God, ye can not destroy it, lest ye be found euen fighters against God.
40 Pea naʻa nau loto ki ai: pea kuo nau ui ʻae kau ʻaposetolo, mo kauʻimaea, naʻa nau fekau ke ʻoua te nau lea ʻi he huafa ʻo Sisu, pea tukuange ʻakinautolu.
And to him they agreed, and called the Apostles: and when they had beaten them, they commanded that they should not speake in the Name of Iesus, and let them goe.
41 Pea naʻa nau ʻalu mei he ʻao ʻoe kau fakamaau ʻi he fiefia, koeʻuhi kuo nau ʻaonga ke kātaki ʻae fakamā koeʻuhi ko hono huafa.
So they departed from the Councill, reioycing, that they were counted worthy to suffer rebuke for his Name.
42 Pea naʻe ʻikai tuku ʻenau ako mo ʻenau malangaʻaki ʻa Sisu Kalaisi, ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē, ʻi he falelotu lahi, pea mo e fale kotoa pē.
And dayly in the Temple, and from house to house they ceased not to teach, and preach Iesus Christ.
