< 2 Kolinitō 8 >

1 Pea ko eni, ʻe kāinga, ʻoku mau fakaʻilo atu kiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻofa ʻae ʻOtua kuo foaki ki he ngaahi siasi ʻo Masitōnia;
We make known to you, brethren, God’s gracious gift, which has been given in the churches of Macedonia;
2 Koeʻuhi naʻe tupulekina ʻenau fiefia ʻi he ʻahiʻahi lahi ʻi he meʻa mamahi, pea tupulekina ʻo lahi ʻenau foaki kae lolotonga ʻenau masiva lahi.
that under an afflicting trial, their overflowing joy, and their deep poverty, abounded to the riches of their liberality;
3 He ʻoku ou fakamoʻoni ki heʻenau mafai mei honau loto, ʻio, ʻo lahi hake ʻi heʻenau faʻa fai;
for I testify that according to their power, and beyond their power, they gave voluntarily,
4 Mo nau kole fakamātoato kiate kimautolu ke mau maʻu ʻae foaki, pea mau kau ki hono tauhi mā ʻae kakai māʻoniʻoni.
beseeching us, with much entreaty, that they might give, and take part in the ministering to the saints;
5 Pea ʻikai ke hangē ko ʻemau ʻamanaki, ka naʻa nau fuofua foaki ʻakinautolu ki he ʻEiki, pea kiate kimautolu foki ʻi he finangalo ʻoe ʻOtua.
and they did this, not only as we had hoped, but they gave themselves first to the Lord, and then to us, through the will of God;
6 Ko ia naʻa mau pehē ai kia Taitusi, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻene kamata fai, ke ne fakaʻosi ʻae ngāue ko ia ʻiate kimoutolu foki.
so that we exhorted Titus, that, as he had previously begun, so he would bring to an end this gift among you also.
7 Ko ia, pea ʻi hoʻomou tupulekina ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē, ʻi he tui, mo e lea, mo e ʻilo, mo e faʻa fai kotoa pē, pea mo hoʻomou ʻofa kiate kimautolu, ke mou tupulekina ʻi he lelei ni foki.
Now as you excel in every thing, in faith, and in speech, and in knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love for us, see that you excel in this gift also.
8 ‌ʻOku ʻikai teu tala eni ko e fekau, ka ko e meʻa ʻi he fiefie fai ʻoe niʻihi, pea ke, fakamoʻoni ʻaki ʻae moʻoni ʻo hoʻomou ʻofa.
I do not speak this as a commandment, but on account of the zeal of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
9 He ʻoku mou ʻilo ʻae ʻulungāanga lelei ʻa hotau ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi, ʻa ʻene mohu koloaʻia, ka naʻe hoko ʻo masiva koeʻuhi ko kimoutolu, koeʻuhi ʻi heʻene masiva ke mou koloaʻia ai.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet, for your sakes, he became poor, that you, through his poverty, might become rich.
10 Pea ʻi he meʻa ni ʻoku ou enginakiʻi: he ʻoku ʻaonga ia kiate kimoutolu, he kuo mou tomuʻa kamata fai, pea ʻoku ʻikai ko ia pe, ka naʻa mou fie fai talu ʻae taʻu kuo hili.
And I give my judgment in this matter; for this is profitable for you, who began not only to do, but to show a willing mind, a year ago.
11 Pea ko eni, fakatoʻotoʻo ʻa hono fai; ke hangē ko e fie loto ki ai, pea ke pehē foki ʻae fie fai mei he meʻa ʻoku mou maʻu.
Now, therefore, perfect also the doing of this; that as there was a readiness of mind to be willing, so also there may be an accomplishment of the doing, out of that which you have.
12 He kapau ʻoku ai ʻae loto lelei ki ai, ʻe lau ia, ʻo fakatatau ki he meʻa ʻoku maʻu ʻe he tangata, ka e ʻikai fakatatau mo ia ʻoku ʻikai te ne maʻu.
For if there is a readiness of mind, one is accepted according to what he has, not according to what he has not.
13 ‌ʻOku ʻikai [fai eni ]koeʻuhi ke fiemālie ʻae niʻihi, kae māfasia ʻakimoutolu:
For I do not intend that there shall be relief to others, and affliction to you; but that, according to equality, your abundance, at the present time, may supply their wants;
14 Ka ʻi he fakatatau ʻi he kuonga ni hoʻomou maʻumeʻa lahi ki heʻenau masiva, ke hoko ai ʻenau maʻumeʻa lahi [ko e tokoni ]ki hoʻomou masiva foki koeʻuhi ke fakatatau pe:
and that, at a future time, their abundance may supply your wants; that there may be equality,
15 ‌ʻO hangē ko ia kuo tohi, “Ko ia [naʻa ne tānaki ]ʻo lahi, naʻe ʻikai hano toe; pea ko ia [naʻe tānaki ]ʻo siʻi, naʻe ʻikai haʻane masiva.”
as it is written: He that gathered much had nothing over; and he that gathered little did not lack.
16 Kae fakafetaʻi ki he ʻOtua, ʻaia naʻe ʻai ki he loto ʻo Taitusi ʻae tokanga lahi ko ia kiate kimoutolu.
But thanks be to God, who put the same earnest care for you in the heart of Titus:
17 He ko e moʻoni naʻa ne tali ʻae enginaki; ka naʻe muʻomuʻa hono loto ki ai, naʻe ʻalu atu ia kiate kimoutolu ko hono loto pe.
for he accepted my exhortation, and, being more earnest, he went to you of his own accord.
18 Pea kuo mau fekau mo ia ʻae kāinga ʻoku ʻofeina ʻe he ngaahi siasi kotoa pē, koeʻuhi ko e ongoongolelei;
And we have sent with him the brother whose praise in the gospel is in all the churches;
19 Pea ʻoku ʻikai ko ia pe, ka ke ongoongolelei ai ʻae ʻEiki pe ko ia, pea mo homou loto fie fai:
and who, moreover, was chosen by the churches as our fellow-traveler with this gift, which is to be distributed by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and as a declaration of your readiness of mind;
20 ‌ʻO vakai eni, ke ʻoua naʻa lauʻikovi ʻakimautolu ʻe ha tokotaha ʻi he meʻa lahi ni ʻoku mau tauhi:
being careful for this―that no one shall blame us in this abundance, which is ministered by us;
21 He ʻoku mau tokonaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa matamatalelei, ʻikai ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ʻEiki pe, kae ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai foki.
for we provide what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
22 Pea kuo mau fekau mo kinaua hotau kāinga, ʻaia kuo liunga lahi ʻemau ʻilo ʻene faʻa fai ʻi he ngaahi meʻa lahi, ka ko eni, ʻoku ʻāsili ʻene faʻa fai, ʻi heʻene faʻaki mālohi atu kiate kimoutolu.
And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have often proved to be diligent in many things, but now much more diligent on account of the strong confidence which he has in you.
23 Pea ko Taitusi, ko hoku tokoua ia mo e kaunga ngāue kiate kimoutolu: pea ko homau kāinga, ko e kau faifekau ʻae ngaahi siasi mo e nāunau ʻa Kalaisi ʻakinautolu.
If it is necessary to speak of Titus, he is my partner and fellow-worker for you; if our brethren are spoken of, they are the apostles of the churches, the glory of Christ.
24 Ko ia mou fakahā kiate kinautolu, ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ngaahi Siasi, ha fakamoʻoni ʻo hoʻomou ʻofa, pea mo e mau vikiviki koeʻuhi ko kimoutolu.
Therefore, give to them, in the presence of the churches, a proof of your love, and of our boasting of you.
