< 1 Pita 5 >

1 Ko au ko e motuʻa, pea ko e fakamoʻoni ki he ngaahi mamahi ʻa Kalaisi, pea teu kau foki ʻi he nāunau ʻe fakahā, ʻoku ou enginaki atu ki he kau mātuʻa ʻoku ʻiate kimoutolu:
I am exhorting the elders among you, I, who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and am also one who will share in the glory that will be revealed:
2 Fafanga ʻae fanga sipi ʻae ʻOtua ʻoku ʻiate kimoutolu, ʻo leʻohi ia, ʻikai ʻi he fakapāpākū, ka ʻi he loto fiefai pe; ʻikai koeʻuhi ko e koloa ʻuli, kae ʻi he loto manavakavakava;
Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God would have you serve—not for shameful profit but eagerly.
3 Pea ʻikai hangē ko e kau pule ki he nofoʻanga, ka ko e faʻifaʻitakiʻanga ki he fanga sipi.
Do not act as a master over the people who are in your care. Instead, be an example to the flock.
4 Pea ka hā mai ʻae Tauhi lahi, ʻe maʻu ai ʻekimoutolu ʻae pale ʻoe nāunau ʻe ʻikai mae.
Then when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive an unfading crown of glory.
5 Pea ko kimoutolu foki, ko e kau talavou, fakavaivaiʻi ʻakimoutolu ki he mātuʻa. ʻIo, ke fefakaʻaiʻaiʻaki ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē kiate kimoutolu, pea kofuʻaki ʻae angavaivai: “He ʻoku tekeʻi ʻe he ʻOtua ʻae fielahi, ka ʻoku ne foaki ʻae ʻaloʻofa ki he angavaivai.”
In the same way, you younger men, submit to the older men. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility and serve one another. For God resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.
6 Ko ia ke fakavaivai ʻakimoutolu ʻi he lalo nima māfimafi ʻoe ʻOtua, ka ne hakeakiʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻi he ʻaho totonu:
Therefore humble yourselves under God's mighty hand so that he may lift you up in due time.
7 ‌ʻO tuku hoʻomou tokanga kotoa pē kiate ia; he ʻoku ne kau kiate kimoutolu.
Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.
8 Leʻo, pea faʻa vakai; koeʻuhi ko homou fili ko e tēvolo, ʻoku ʻalu fano, ʻo hangē ha laione ngungulu, ʻo ne kumi pe ko hai ne faʻapuku hake:
Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, is stalking around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
9 ‌ʻAia mou tekeʻi atu ʻo mālohi ʻi he tui, ʻo ʻilo ko e ngaahi mamahi pehē ʻoku kātaki ʻe homou kāinga ʻoku ʻi māmani.
Stand against him. Be strong in your faith. You know that your community of believers that is in the world is enduring the same sufferings.
10 Ka ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ʻaloʻofa kotoa pē, kuo ne uiuiʻi ʻakitautolu ki hono nāunau taʻengata ʻia Kalaisi Sisu, ʻoka hili hoʻomou kātaki siʻi pe, ke fakahaohaoa, mo fakatuʻumaʻu, mo fakamālohi, mo fokotuʻumaʻu ʻakimoutolu. (aiōnios g166)
After you suffer for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will perfect you, establish you, and strengthen you. (aiōnios g166)
11 Ke ʻiate ia ʻae ongoongolelei mo e pule ʻo taʻengata pea taʻengata. ʻEmeni. (aiōn g165)
To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Kuo u tohi siʻi kiate kimoutolu ʻia Silivenusi, ʻaia (ʻoku ou pehē) ko e kāinga angatonu, ke enginaki mo fakahā ko e ʻaloʻofa moʻoni eni ʻae ʻOtua, ʻaia ʻoku mou tuʻu ai.
I regard Silvanus as a faithful brother, and I have written to you briefly through him. I am exhorting you and I am testifying to you that what I have written is the true grace of God. Stand in it.
13 Ko e [siasi ]ʻoku ʻi Papilone, kuo fili fakataha mo kimoutolu, ʻoku ʻofa atu kiate kimoutolu; pea ʻoku pehē mo Maʻake ko hoku foha.
The woman who is in Babylon, who is chosen together with you, greets you. Also Mark, my son, greets you.
14 Mou fetoutou ʻuma ʻaki ʻae fekita ʻoe ʻofa. Ke ʻiate kimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻia Kalaisi Sisu ʻae melino. ʻEmeni.
Greet one another with a kiss of love. May peace be to you all who are in Christ.
